The best part is turning some these and having no noticeable difference made on my brand new controller
@muteFPV
@muteFPV Жыл бұрын
That sounds very strange. If you loosen completely, does the stick flop freely around the center (meaning that the spring has gotten completely loose)? Which screws feel like doing nothing?
@RandoManFPV
@RandoManFPV Жыл бұрын
@@muteFPV it did not. When I loosened every screw, the gimbal would stay wherever I left it. I took the controller apart and found out that the bendy thing that adds friction was making full on contact. The screw holding it was tightened to max. I just loosened that screw a bit and now all adjustment screws are working right.

Thank you for the feedback and I am glad you sorted it out. This would be my suggestion, to open it and see the gimbals from the back side. Did the radio ship with the throttle ratchet engaged or disengaged?
@RandoManFPV
@RandoManFPV Жыл бұрын
@@muteFPV Ratchet was disengaged. Friction bar next to it was maximum engaged. I'm wondering now tho. Is there a way to further limit vertical and/or horizontal travel? From inside/back of radio? I've got vertical travel maximum restricted from the front of the radio but it's still a bit much for me, and horizontal travel cannot be limited from the front/outside of radio. BTW I've got the tx16s mk2 JB edition specifically
@muteFPV
@muteFPV Жыл бұрын
Ok I suppose they wanted to avoid throttle stick moving on its own weight so they preferred to put much more friction than necessary... As for the stick travel, you could probably use longer screws for the vertical travel. For the horizontal I have never thought about it... First idea that comes to mind is some kind of 3d printed gimbal ring that limits the stick movement exactly where you want. I don't think if any way that you can reduce the horizontal travel from the back of the gimbal but I will give it some thought. Shorter gimbal sticks would also help reaching the full stick deflection with a smaller movement.

@muteFPV

Glad you found it useful! There are 2 grub screws included with the radio, which you can screw to secure the stick ends to any height. The stick ends are 2-piece but I always add the grub screws anyway, unless the stick ends are screwed in all the way or I have used spacers or something similar.

Hi I loved the video! I was wondering, is it possible to add the spring tension on the vertical axis of the left gimbal? I want to buy it but don't know if I can use it for both helicopters and trucks/cars (by adding or removing tension on the throttle stick). Thank you
@muteFPV
@muteFPV 2 жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you! Yes, you can enable self-centering on the left gimbal, loosen its friction bar and adjust its spring tension. These gimbals are made so that you can change flying modes (have the throttle on the left or right), so both have a spring on the vertical axis ready to be used for stick tension.
@marcostivanello6189
@marcostivanello6189 2 жыл бұрын
@@muteFPV Thank you very much for your quick reply. So basically they are same gimbals and I don't need to add any extra parts? It just needs to be adjusted with a screwdriver and that's it? Thanks a million!
@muteFPV
@muteFPV 2 жыл бұрын
Yep, exactly. Although I would probably not use friction at all if you want to switch back and forth faster. This way you will only have to engage/disengage self centering. I am sure there can be ways to hack the whole assembly and do it faster, without the need to screw/unscrew. It depends on how often you will need to do this...

@@muteFPV For the moment I'm setting up a Tamiya truck with which I want to play with my son, and later on I want to add a Trex heli. I don't need to switch fast, I will either use one or the other but I wasn't sure I could get the throttle stick to return to neutral (with the spring) the exact same way it does on the right stick. Well I placed the order and can't wait for it to be delivered..

Silly question In mode 2 should the left stick (throttle) have spring tension downward? I keep leaving the throttle up with unintentional results 😅
@muteFPV
@muteFPV Жыл бұрын
The throttle should not have any spring tension to return on its own, when flying drones or planes for example. You can set this up with self-centering but you will have to constantly "fight" the spring tension instead of flying smoothly. If you are used to gaming consoles / gaming controllers, it will seem strange at first :)

Hey, I want to purchase a new radio. I want it to be a compact, gaming style radio, with the ability to attach an ELRS module on back. What would you recommend? My current radio is the X9D+ ( which I despise) and I have an R9 module that works fine with ELRS flashed. I want to keep the module, but throw the radio in the trash.
@muteFPV
@muteFPV 2 жыл бұрын
Hello! I am not sure how many options you have for a gaming style radio that can fit a full size module on the back. Is selling the module and buying an ELRS-ready radio an option? Do you just need ELRS or also a 4-in-1 module?
@adeyinkabrasil4426

@@muteFPV ELRS has everything I need. So you think I'm better off just buying an ELRS radio and just sell or forget about the module, right? The only problem is I haven't seen a compact radio with internal 915mhz ELRS....They're all 2.4ghz
