Pro tip; if you still have your Radiomaster TX16s foam case it comes in, you can flip your radio upside down in it and work on the back without your nice new gimbals rubbing and pushing into the table.

I thoroughly love my TX16S, but the endpoints being “fluid” is getting worse by the day, now that it’s 6+ months old and has 6 or 8 models programmed into it, which I cycle through multiple times daily. Wish I could afford these gimbals. Those would be a GREAT upgrade!

I see what you mean about that little bit of extra 'wiggle'' space when pressing the throttle lower on my T16, but that little anomaly has never been an issue for me, the gimbals on that are perfectly fine for my flying. At $130 I guess it's for serious racers or anyone who has to have the best no matter what.

That jitter on the yaw is caused by a lack of sheilding from an external tx like crossfire. Radiomaster support legit said "just turn down your tx to 25mw"... Glad these gimbals seem to have better sheilding

I think the „sensual“ thing to do is waiting for the new Radiomaster - let’s call it tx 20 - with built-in elrs 2,4 ghz and 915/865 mhz and these frickin‘ gimbals in the max version ;-). Should be between 300 and 350 bucks and will give the competition a round for their money. I bet it’s gonna come out next spring, maybe even sooner. Peace

i just bought these. my tx16s is half year old and the right gimbal is weird in the top right. i can push down on the stick and it changes value of around 5 to 10 and stay there until i slightly pull the stick out. i screwed down the 2 adjustable metal things in the back and its somehow good now. but these look verry good and i beleve after seeing this they must feel buttersmooth and solid

When you take a radio apart you should set it in the foam carrier to protect the sticks. I use my Spektrum Tx foam package.

Correctly calibrating with no force does prevent the channel endpoint from changing. The point is just to demonstrate how much flex the factory gimbal has vs. the metal one.

im so glad i got mine, my pretty new tx16s right gimbal was acting weird pretty early on. if i put pressure on the stick just by having my thumb on it, it wil slightly pitch forward, it does that upto 9% depend how hard i push the stick wile flying. now its all smooth and i can just really hard handle the stick and only get the output i give currenty

Glad to see the metal gimbals fit with the LED spacers. When you first showed the metal ones I was sure they looked thicker than the plastic ones, when I put the LED rings in I noticed the rear of the gimbals was pretty close to the rear cover of the TX.

That was something I had to-do with my first radio, the IR8M! Not the best radio, but it served its purpose. The gimbals were "loose" around the middle, I glued them onto the pot shaft with some nailpolish and all the jittery sloppiness went away!

Oh my GOD!!! The gimbals on a $1200 radio are better than the gimbals on a $180 radio?? :D They dang well better be! I had noticed the flex on the gimbals of my TX-16s. To compensate, I am VERY careful when I do a calibration and have even gone into Companion and tweaked the calibration data to guarantee a +100 & -100 resting position with no contact with the stick. Other than this, the original gimbals are very good. I can't say that I have noticed any effect from this flex (or other minor flaws of the gimbals) in flight. Still... I am now very tempted by these new gimbals. I really wondered about these gimbals when I firs saw them a few days ago and am glad/unhappy to have seen this video demonstrating their differences. Yes, I am somewhat of a gimbal snob even if I may not have the skill level to truly take advantage of the better hardware.

AG01 V3 is already on aliexpress with the same price as of getfpv. Anyway, it's a set of thruster and self-centered sticks with front adjust screw holes which already appeared on Radiomaster's OEM Eachine remote. They reused the design.

Just got mine. The last thing that I have been missing from my Taranis X9D was that heavier solid stick feel. The sound/feel when you let the sticks snap back. Very nice.

Have the TX16s "new color edition", haptic motor mount was broken out of the box. Added the CNC kit and several screw holes were stripped or posts cracked from factory, had to use lots of bigger screws to reassemble. But also anyplace the "grease" had got on the plastic it was was crumbling, like locktite does to PC. Got it working, but because it does not fit my hands have gone back to my X9D+. If you interested I will make you a deal on a very slightly used TX16s, am in North central Florida.

Nice video! I love the look and probably the feel, if I could afford them. Mine actually didn't have that flex problem you showed at the beginning of the video, and the bending of the plastic faceplate is made moot, when they are screwed to an aluminum CNC faceplate , which is what my Max, and yours also has. My gimbals actually feel better than my old Jumper T16, so I won't be replacing them ,unless they break. Yours might be the by-product of inconsistencies of production:-)Then, I will be faced by the decision to buy these. If the radio is still in good operable condition, than I would probably pull the trigger. But so far, all is good with my Radiomaster T16S Max, and I love it. Love the fact your doing setup and programming videos on the T16S. Keep up the great work!

If this were on my old Qx7s that I used for 3 years, this would be a no brainer - it has great gimbals but I could notice some issues and unpleasant feeling with trying to nail a smooth line. Maybe at year 2 or 3 for Radiomaster, I’ll be eyeing these up as a definite way to maintain my radio.

Hey guys a Toothpick works great for putting some grease on that plastic piece instead of a q-tip and I think THATS a piece of silicon over the plastic piece there but I put a little lube on my stock gimbles

The stock gimbals are pretty good and none of my high end radios where any better. When JR put metal gimbals in there radio they where awesome. I never owned one but flew with one and wow best gimbals period. So I expect these gimbals will to be the same when I get them can't wait. It will technically turn the cheap radio into an expensive radio

Bad things happen once you go too deep down the rabbit hole of a hobby... If your not careful you will be seriously out of pocket and not much happier.. Joshua, you need longer throttle fingers and skinner screwdrivers, especially the screwdrivers, thay was painful to watch the wrong sized tool being used. I must be a little weird with the sticks, I reverse the heads so the knurled section is facing the gimbal, and the cone shaped collar is all the way up, to make the sticks as long as possible for a greater length arc for the degrees of movement, for as fine a granularity of control as possible.

I have a jumper T12 Pro with hall effect gimbals and love the feel. My T8SG also has the hall effect gimbals. They are rock solid with no flutter or bounce!

That’s surprising. I’ve had 3 different T12s and 5 different T8SG radios over the years and they all had stick jitter when you check BF receiver tab. Radio feels ok but hard to get consistency. Have you tried other radios? You may find other hall effect gimbals are noticeably better at similar cost.

Jumper T8SG/T12 have a great size and switch layout imo, but even after adjustment, calibrating, setting endpoints and subtrim, the gimbals frequently go out of calibration. Again, not a bad radio but those gimbals are not consistent in my experience.

If you replace the sticks with a thinner base there won't be any "wiggle" input, what actually happens is the stick knob is hitting the gimbal frame.

The reason why the wires are run underneath the others is so they do not get caught in the gimbals. The throttle/left gimbal should probably be run under the first and second set of cables.

We already change our transmitters one a year because of the fancy funky bigger better faster reason. How important is it that they last 200 years? You can handle dead-zones, jitter and flex at the end throw in betaflight or sim calibration. Adjusting tension once in anTX lifetime. But hobbyists love to invest in their hobby.

The real upgrade is said to be the FlySky HZCZ03-ADJ gimbals. They require a custom version of EDGE TX but then you get all kinds of voodoo including 4096 steps resolution, 3 axis hall sensor and a temperature. If you plan on running 500hz update rate the added resolution should be win. Please also review the most extravagant solution!@@

Or alternatively I *think* they might fit straight into the Nirvana radio, which would make it the most up-to-date radio on the market now that it has EDGE TX as well. Long time coming.

I just tested the gimbals in my TX16S (carbon fiber faceplate version) and I get no flex at all. They also don't jitter and I have the ADC filter off. I did just get it a few months ago so maybe that's why?. Running EdgeTX on it. I do really want these gimbals. Sucks they cost more than I paid for the radio but I'm gonna get them. Probably going to have to wait until next year though with Xmas coming up and hopefully getting my Steamdeck soon, my budget for hobbies is tight.

I'll bet it cant be much different/better than the Pyrodrone CNC model because that TX has the smoothest gimbals I've EVER used. Flexing the stick with almost 10% of deadzone means the calibration was done blindfolded. I'm not seeing $150 worth of product imo, but whatever floats your boat.

One day someone will make a full size radio with beautiful gimbals right out of the box and they will absolutely clean up. Needs to be crossfire module compatible and with independent, easily replaced switches and feel great all over. The market is primed for a must have, do it all radio but so far I haven't seen it. These gimbals look great but they probably cost more than the radio itself which looks and feels pretty cheaply made in the hands. Maybe a Mambo 2?

I'm sure it's like the difference in a Craftsman screwdriver and a Snap-on screwdriver. A, Epiphone SG and a Gibson SG. If you rarely use it, it's not worth it. If you make a living with it or constantly use it, it is worth the extra money. A 420 stainless steel blade with aluminum handle scales and steel liner lock with bronze bushings on the pivot compared to a titanium frame lock, s35vn blade steel and ceramic ball bearings. Knife people will understand the difference there.

Bummer, I was there a while back. Got a stimulus check, and bought the Jumper T16, to replace my bricked QX7 Taranis.(this is before I watched videos on how to revive bricked radios:-( Doesn't matter, because there is a noticeable control difference between the two. Now that I Bought a Radiomaster T16S, I could sense a small difference in the gimbals between those two. Stuff just keeps getting better. T16S is the best radio I've used. It was worth the jump to Hall effect gimbals for the control improvement.Hope you'll be able to try it sometime. Happy flying, it's good with Taranis also.

I’ve found X-lite can be weird about those gimbal adjustment screws in the back. I backed mine all the way out and then put back in making sure to use the correct length adjustment screw per FRSKY manual. Recalibrate and have been good for months now.

Did you ever grease your gimbals? I have jumper tx12, and from the factory one of the gimbals even squeaked a little bit, I used lithium grease and it bece very smooth. Can't do anything with flex, just don't push it too far, but they are buttery smooth now

this is EXACTLLY what I've been waiting for, I fly mode 1 and do quick full stick rolls all the time while my rates are also kinda steep at the end, so when I suddenly lower the throttle to minimum while doing full stick roll(which both happen on the right stick) gimbal flex will effect my roll input so sometimes can't get full 100% of rolling speed, this will fix my problem.

The gimbals look very well made. But the price is really very high. The battery for the Radiomaster. can also be charged via the USB-C socket? Okay with a LiPo charger it is certainly faster.

Instead of using a 5000mah LiPo, just buy 2 Sony VTC6 18650s. They are rated for 3000mAh each, are lighter and easier to charge

Not sure how they are easier to charge, since the radio has internal charging. Just plug in USB. Done. The 18650 do deliver 3000 mAh. Mine delivers 5000 mAh. And it fits perfectly in the battery bay so it doesn't rattle. That's why I switched.

What I meant was if you like to charge LiPos or 18650s externally, it's easier with 18650 since you don't need to babysit them and chargers are cheaper and simpler to use. My 18650 tray (that was included with the TX16S) doesn't rattle, there is a thick piece of foam on the lid. And a 20% increase in battery was a big deal to me

Hi Joshua! I have a problem with my quad, I can't use it with a pwm frequency lower than 32Khz. For example, if I use 24Khz, the quad starts to do yaw twitches. I'm not sure what could be causing this problem. All started when I had a Hglrc F722 Fc with a Hglrc Forward 60A 4 in 1 esc on the quad, but the twitches were in the yaw and pitch axis. Later, I decided to change the flight controller, because I thought it could be a bad gyro problem, I installed a Hobbywing xrotor f7 Fc, but the problem didn't go away. I'm not sure if I have bad luck with bad gyros or if the esc could be causing it. The flight controller is soft mounted and the esc has a 1000uF capacitor, the build is clean, the frame doesn't have any cracks, it's a new build. I saw a video from FlightOne where they talk about yaw twitches and they said that the esc could be causing the problem. The quad is flyable with 32Khz and above, but the motors get hot. If I change the esc will the problem solve?

This would make sense if products had longevity. But you know next year there will be the next vesrion etc etc.. so there's hardly any point in lifetime guarantee ball bearings in gimbals.

Too bad they don’t offer anodized aluminum to match the color combos they sold in the TX16S Max. I have the gold blingy and will lose some with these gimbals. 😟

I think pretty much every gimbal has 4 bearings hell my $60 devo from like 10 years ago had 4 bearing gimbals. As does my $70 T-lite maybe the "higher end" brands don't have them haha. I wonder if these have ceramic bearings they would make a really nice ELRS handset build though.

I didn't put this in the video but I pulled apart the original gimbal and its bearings looked the same. That being said, I'm sure there are plenty of cheap controllers with something worse.
