One of the enduring mysteries of life is why Chris Rea has never been appreciated in the U.S. the way he has been for decades in Europe. He is a genuine musical treasure. And I shall always be grateful that he chose to write a song about my home state (Texas, that is, not Hell :)

so underrated as a musician singer & song writer. Wasnt CR like a reluctant superstar. All he wanted to do was play music. i think not being an ego driven money maker with everything being about me me me he just didnt fit the American mould. His voice and guitar playing just transports me to a place of joyful peace.

No enthusiasm? Did we watch the same thing? He is totally into the music in every song. Its not likely I'll ever see him play live (opposite side of the world, unfortunately!!) but from every interview I've seen or read and every video watched, it's never been about the show, or the man; just the music. And that still sounds good to me.

Absolutely brilliant for a man with pancreatic cancer (even though he has had his pancreas removed, he still has major problems with the bile duct and his diabetes, which means he has to take 34 pills and 7 injections daily), thus due to all this we NO longer get any ENCORES anymore and only 50 minute sessions as his body is failing him, but his voice is ideal for his type of music and he can still sling a guitar with the best of them all; I am really glad that he didn't do extensive tours of the U.S. of A. as it would have completely drained all the life out of him, they can all buy any one of his albums, compilations or DVD's and there are many of them; I would listen to him all day if I could afford the time.

A couple of interesting things I have noticed whilst listening to and watching this concert is his voice and how it has "matured" into his songs and style of songs that he writes, it is almost as though he has reached absolute perfection for all he does vocally; secondly is the way he treat his guitars, the "Italia" Maranello Classic looks as good today as when he first got it from the workshop, whereas his beat up ol' Red Fender Stratocaster has more dings and tape on it than the last time I saw it, luckily the Fender can withstand the abuse where as the "Italian Job" is a touch more sensitive and that certainly tells when it's in his hands, the notes he is able to draw for the "Italia" are simply amazing, God (The God of your choice) Bless you Chris Rea, may your life continue to be a joy to you and your family as much as it is to all of your followers of outstanding music.

To all the people complaining about Chris not saying hello or playing a song they wanted to hear? Piss off wimps. Chris is a true guitar hero and a living legend. I have been lucky enough to see him live numerous times. I attended one of his 2014 tour concerts and he was phenomenal as always. He plays his backside off to the point where in one concert of the 2014 tour he collapsed on stage and was rushed to the hospital. If that does not prove the man gives it his all every time despite his ill health, nothing will. Most musicians would have retired after suffering the health complications Chris is so diligently fighting against. Be thankful Chris is still playing live and making great music you ungrateful sods.There are plenty of true fans who would have loved to take your seats and actually enjoyed the concert. Unfortunately tickets were wasted on the likes of you. Next time do all true fans a favour and bugger off!

As a slide player, I think Chris is so down to earth he doesn't realise how good he actually is. Add in to the mix his health problems that would've stop 99% of people even playing at all, the man is a total Blues legend. The great pity is he's only appreciated as one by too few people. God bless Chris Rea.

the awesome Chris Rea, unfortunately, highly underrated, his voice is the most original and fantastic , the tone of his voice, is unreal, and obviously he still has it. His compositions are awesome, and he is a very good guitar player. He reminds me of Boz Scaggs, they both have "different " voices & music per mainstream, and they both play guitar. I would love to see them together on stage. Keep doing it Chris.

I never get tired of listening to this man, his mastery of that Fender is amazing. Along with Mark Knopfler, Sting, Peter Gabriel and a handful of other artistes, they make this world a better place. The trouble is, when they have gone, they have gone. There is no one out there that can take their places.
@pocketmnstr117 жыл бұрын
Yes he is good on that beaten up old RED Fender and the other Fenders that he has a liking to, but my preference is when he pulls out that Maranello "Italia" Classic guitar and really hits the right chords perfectly; rather talented, what with his song-writing, guitar and banjo playing (amongst a few other instruments he has mastered that weren't used in this concert). Wake up every morning to my "OWN" time with Chris on the stereo with kick-ass 'phones, so as not to wake the family and thus I am in a great mood to start the day, what more could I want.
