Pure genius in its simplicity. Just letting you know; I am going to "steal" this idea ;)

This method is better than any other on the market. The easiest way, is always the best way. Thank you John for the video!

I hope you patented the idea before someone else takes your idea and makes a huge profit out of it. Loved your video by the way!

Hi John, thanks so much for showing this. seems very impressive. I want to make one for myself. Can you let me know which drum you bought. I cannot seem to find any good one at reasonable price. Can you give us a link for the drum ?
@Joshua79C7 жыл бұрын
All you did was what The Snowplow Shovel snow pusher is but made your own with taller moldboard and attached it to a metal pusher shovel, HDPE which is what the drum you cut up is made of and UHMW-PE which the SnowPlow shovels are made of are most versatile and low friction plastic.

Yeah, it was just a simple idea I thought of after watching a lot of videos on homemade shovels. It surprised me however in its performance. I am 66 yrs old and this is the best shovel i have had in all my years! I just wanted to inspire someone else to make a simple shovel of their own. It's the perfect angle on the curve and the plastic is very rigid and wears well. I hope you can find a good push shovel to attach the piece of barrel to, and you can have your own great snow remover. I paid $10.00 for the barrel and I can make 8 shovels out of it; however all I need is one!

Quick reply, yeah I read the other comments before I posted this so knew somewhat how young you are these days, like I said in a reply in another comment that is the perfect curvature you want, some makers like to add a bit more curve at the top half to help throw it forward a bit more. Sadly with a shovel or pusher you would be hard pressed to figure a way to curve it so it scoops like the Fisher XLS wing plow but with a slight width curve to reduce side spill. Then again if you put this at a slight angle you can windrow like larger machine plows. Do not push yourself beyond your limits, you seem to still have more youth to live and got yourself a more reliable plow now on a nice low budget.

Great job but what about heavy wet snow , how does it handle .
@johnturner20146 жыл бұрын
Yeah Brian, it works just as good with the wet heavy snow as well. It's easy to make, and the hardest part is to find a good push shovel to attach it to; but once you find the right pushing handle, you'll see how great this home-made shovel works.

How does it do in the heavy wet stuff? Looks cool!
@johnturner20147 жыл бұрын
Yeah, this shovel works great even in the wettest heaviest snows; it's just the most perfect shovel I have found in the 60 years I have lived so far. Make one you'll see for yourself!
@bikeroftheeverywheres8647 жыл бұрын
John Turner i'm in the process of making one right now, and your video helped a bunch! The shovel gets under the snow and curls it, thus keeping the weight up and moving, rather than bogging down the shovel. Genious! Thank you so much for sharing!
@Joshua79C7 жыл бұрын
What you see in the curve is the same for most part in many plows, some makers go with a more extreme curve at the top of the moldboard as it is called in the industry.
@johnturner20147 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I didn't invent the curve, the curve is in the barrel design itself, all that is needed is to quarter the barrel and wallah!!!

Where can I buy one of your shovels?
@johnturner20146 жыл бұрын
Hey LumpyLanny, the idea is to make one of your own. You need a 55 gal blue plastic barrel, cut that in half, then cut one of the halves into quarters; finally find a good handle to mount one of the quarters to, and there you have it! It's a homemade shovel project. Good luck Lumpy!!!
