MX5 NA Miata - How to install Delrin door bushings

Great news! I got my own MiataMods Delrin door bushings which even have a better fitment than the ones I used in the video! I sell them on my webshop (miatamods.net/...) for only €40,- and that includes international shipping!
In this video I'm going to do a very simple but useful modification to the car, and that is installing Delrin door bushings. The door bushings are located behind the doors and they help to keep the door in place when it's closed.
The old door bushings are made out of rubber so they are a bit soft and a lot of times they are also worn. Because of that they leave a bit of room so the door will still move, even when it's closed.
The Delrin door bushings are a lot stiffer and they fit a lot better. Because of that it holds the doors solidly locked into place. This in turn allows the doors to reinforce the chassis and the doors play a big role in that. The effect is a stiffer car with fewer squeaks and rattles.
Things you will need:
» Socket wrench
» 10mm socket
» Old rag
» Delrin door bushings (miatamods.net/...)
» Phillips head screwdriver

I've never even noticed if the door moves when closed but given the age of the car, I'll bet it does. Canadian winters are not a good time to drive the Miata so it's parked beside the garage under a cover. I'll have to check the bushings in spring. Thanks for the video. I've had my NA for 5 years and the door just didn't close right with a minimal effort. After trying to adjust the bushings with a screw driver and coming close to stripping out the screw , I tried the 10mm socket as you did and off it came off easily. Cleaned it up and put the old bushings back and now it closes tight as a drum ! Thanks for the idea on this easy 10 minute project that makes a world of difference.

I just received and installed these on my car and the doors close more solid now which I like, and when I drive there is a small but noticeable difference of the car feeling more tight and less rattle. My driver door cup is slightly tighter that the passenger door cup and takes a little bit more force to close but I'm hoping it will wear in after a while otherwise I might sand the bushing a tenth of a mm. Sanding the bushing down will be quite hard because Delrin is really strong. What happens if you remove the bushing and push it in the door cup? Does it fit nice and snug? If that is the case, you need to readjust the mounting position of the bushing

Haven't had any issues with all the bushings I've sold, including the ones I run myself. Delrin is incredibly strong. Buy it and try it I would say ;-)

I install the Flying Miata door bushings and there basically the same except there's also contain carbon fiber. Didn't really notice any difference in my handling.

Well there's your problem; You should have bought the MiataMods bushings. They contain fairy dust which is even better than carbon

It’s just a transfer sticker from the company who supplied me the door bushings, nothing special really 😛

Those are just the standard NA/MK1 seats but with new leather covers. Before you ask, no I don't know where you can buy those covers because I had a local guy remove the fabric covers and install the leather covers.

My doors never close properly anymore with these. Takes a pretty big slam or follow through. So many times my door isn't closed properly and results in a dead battery.
