Really appreciate the knob turning part of the demo. Well done. I have 2 of these on my board. One for crunchy rhythm, the other for saturated singing leads. I’ve been through a lot of dirt pedals, including some very expensive “boutique” pedals. This is one of my favorites and the 3 band eq sets it apart from most others. I love it!

This pedal has become my main distortion/overdrive pedal. Works very well with my Les Paul & Marshall. Both the drummer & bassist in the band I play with, really like the tones I'm getting from this setup... & so do I. It suits the style of Classic Rock we play.

So much awesomeness for such a low price! Tried this in a local music store and literally had to drag myself away I was having so much riffalicious fun haha! Awesome fundamental tone, and a lot of range in the EQ. MXR seem to be going through a massive rejuvenation of late.

I’ve had this pedal for years and it’s amazing. Easily one of the top 3 most versatile pedals I own. It does near-clean boost, transparent overdrive, face-melting grunge tones, and all points in between. If you’re thinking about getting, stop thinking and get one ASAP as possible!

Great demo vid!!!!! Getting one today. This would be great for blues and classic rock!! I love MXR pedals and this would do great ta just push my amp on the clean channel ta get a great blues drive. Thanks again for ur vid!!!

+Kevin l Moore This really is a great distortion pedal and it's the one "distortion" pedal I currently use (I'm an "overdrive/boost" junkie). This wouldn't be my go to choice for blues, but everyone's taste in their dirt pedals varies. : ) You might want to also check out Barber's Direct Drive Compact. Prymaxe has a review for that one too. Mike Hermans does excellent pedal demos.

This pedal is very versatile. I also have a friedman be od. I must say with my particular old laney 15r amp, mxr works better. If you use the friedman in return of the fx loop, then yes it sounds more aggressive and better than mxr. But in terms of team work with other pedals and preamps, mxr wins!

Love the sound of this pedal... I love MXR. They really are the Boss. 😄 I'd like to design a distortion pedal that sends an amp frying signal that causes the amp to explode when you "scoop the mids". I'm currently running the MXR Classic Overdrive into a Distortion+. It sound pretty close to this but I may have to get this one.

I have a Boss SD1-w Super Overdrive. Would this pedal benefit from getting an overdriven signal, or does it give enough gain already? Also, are you using a compressor after or before the MXR Super Badass Distortion? Plenty of people advice putting the compressor after the overdrive, but maybe this pedal benefits from coming after the compressor.
@SamuraiBud4 жыл бұрын
Gee boss sucks id rather use speark mini booster
@mattgilbert73473 жыл бұрын
The SD-1 is a fkin amazing overdrive. I have 3, two of them modded and one stock. A BD-2 and one of those can cover a LOT of tones. For a straight up boost a Spark is good but I prefer the Xotic RC (or the identical but significantly cheaper Mooer clone, the Pure Boost). The SD-1W would make a good mid-boost but I think this pedal has enough EQ sweep, output, and gain, so probably fine on its own. Use the two pedals as two different gain stages, and use your comp as a boost. Experiment with it before, after, or inbetween the two drives. There are no final right answers, only better questions. And Boss definitely does not suck.
@G-NutZ Жыл бұрын
The sd1 will goose up the drive of the SB real nice. It makes the tone and feel real juicy and fluid sounding too. I use the sd1 as my main drive sound thru a four hole Marshall (20 watt combo) the SB is the boost/ lead tone

@Keeling Charles yeah I see it briefly at 8:00, but volume wasn't at unity lol. I think the manufacturer is confusing in the marketing. The pedal says super badass distortion, then they describe it as an overdrive . Its pretty much a distortion.

@matt926uk19 жыл бұрын
Žonatan Rivera you have a great attitude, and i agree, what you do with the pedal is up to you as a guitarist but nowadays it is so difficult to stand out. When Jimi hendrix used his fuzz pedal it was new and fresh and the world was like wtf is this, but how can you do that now? I'm sure if you get this super badass pedal you will get a pretty awesome distortion tone but will it be fresh and exciting? i don't think so
@matt926uk19 жыл бұрын
***** i don't think everything has been done but it takes an exceptional mind to think outside the box, Matt Bellamy of muse has done some pretty aweseome things combining technology with his guitar. but for the average musician who doesn't have thousands of pounds to spend experimenting it is very difficult. That said i still enjoy a well written song with a straight up traditional rock sound
