Useful TIPS if you want to try this EXPERIMENT: 1. Don´t worry about pieces not being equally sized 2. @@gregoryantoniou1861 Yes, but when you are starting for the first time taking it you need to ease yourself into it slowly or else you run the risk of experiencing an aggressive shedding phase. I took a quarter of a 5mg pill once per week for a month, then increased it to a quarter of a pill twice per week for a month, then increased it to three times per week which is my regular pattern now. I take it Monday - Wednesday - Friday - Sunday - Tuesday - Thursday - Saturday - Monday - Wednesday - and so on....

Nice video as always. I find that quarter split portions of the pill work better. This is because one day its 1.25, another its 1.10 and yet another day 1.5 My patients on this split technique are happier than those who take the costlier 1 mg Propecia.

I am on 1mg per day and no side effects. Finasteride is one of the safest most popular drugs men take, and has been for decades. Studies and patient-follow-ups show that less than 2% of people who take the drugs get side effects which subside after stopping. And even then, it's less than 1% because in the studies, compared to people taking placebo, there was no significant difference in that portion of the population not on the drug who would have same side effects as well, from getting older and other health issues. Finasteride at the prescribed 1mg dose only blocks 70% of DHT. You still have 30% of DHT, which for the vast majority of people is more than enough for sex drive. DHT is mainly a sexual maturation hormone for puberty. After puberty, it continues to age men, and in excess amounts leads to hair loss and growth of prostate cancer. It has very limited uses in the body after puberty. Testosterone is more important and used for muscle building and also for sex drive. Finasteride does not block testosterone. So unless you are a man who has very low testosterone, you should have enough testosterone and DHT left over for basic sex drive, PRODIVDED you have a good diet to support it, like enough zinc, copper, B vitamins, choline, folate, glycine, betaine. There are many people trying to sell snake oil salesman hair loss products that do not work, or who own hair loss forums with adds from lawyers looking to prey of gullible people to sue drug companies that make finasteride for money, because of their greed, for imaginary disorders that do not exist and have not been proven and have been debunked by the scientific literature, like "post-finasteride syndrome." There is nom such thing as post-finasteride syndrome. The effects do not last forever. Side effects subside once drug is stopped. Much research has been done on this. These forums send trolls to spam comments on youtube with fake comments, and some youtubers looking to grow large hair loss channels talk about the drug in a bad way to create fake controversy to grow a subscription base of people who are afraid of using the drug and instead use theirs or someone's snake oil supplement which does not work for hair loss, so that they can get views and more ad revenue. Many of these gullible people come from hair loss forums and are overweight, diabetic incels who suffer from such preexisting health conditions and want to blame the drug they usually only tried for a few weeks or months for side effects they already experienced from time to time because of their preexisting health issues which they do not want to tackle because they do not want to stop eating junk food and lose weight or tackle the cause of their low testosterone levels, etc. Many of these people read fake reviews of the drug that are bad before using the drug and, as a result, suffer from the ''no placebo effect."' A nocebo effect is said to occur when negative expectations of the patient regarding a treatment cause the treatment to have a more negative effect than it otherwise would have. For example, when a patient anticipates a side effect of a medication, they can suffer that effect even if the "medication" is actually an inert substance. The complementary concept, the placebo effect, is said to occur when positive expectations improve an outcome. Both placebo and nocebo effects are presumably psychogenic, but they can induce measurable changes in the body . More can be read about the "no placebo effect" here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nocebo Truth is, side effects are extremely rare with the drug and it has been used for decades by tens of millions of people and if side effects were common, tens of millions would not be using it. Even the follow-up studies show after 2-3 years or more, people mostly are just fine. Most hair loss doctors also report similar results after 20 or so years of treating patients with the drug. It is very safe and non-toxic to the liver and organs at the low dosage as well. Also, there are populations of people who for genetic reasons produce little DHT due to a polymorphism that effects the 5AR enzymes synthesis and they are just fine and healthy. Finasteride is the ONLY thing proven to work. And if someone is concerned about preventing or stopping hair loss before it is too late, the best thing they can do is get on it ASAP before it is too late and it all falls out or most of it falls out and they need a far more costly option like hair transplant surgery, if they can afford it and want it. Sadly, some people listen to the scammers selling useless snake oil products that do not work, or youtube gurus trying to get ad revenue and sell their 'courses' on scam 'at home treatments' that also do not work, and they end up wasting hundreds to thousands of dollars, and much time, which means many hair follicles that can not be brought back. In the rare event that one gets side effects taking finasteride, and it is legitimate and not the 'no placebo' effects, or part of a preexisting health condition, they can lower the dose and in most cases do well, or just give it some time and the side effects will pass and they will adjust. Some hair loss doctors recommend patients take 1mg every other day, or three days per week instead of 1 mg to lesson any possible side effects. Some doctors have patients take 0.5mg per day, and some doctors in Asia give dosages of 0.25mg per day. But 1mg per day is ALREADY very low and only blocks up to the threshold of DHT needed to stop hair loss, but it doesn't block more DHT than that., which is nice.

This brought me to tears as i remeber not taking and fretting for so long, the dreaded side effects of drugs, which have to understood first, by the patient and an actual doctor who is willing to invest his time, not forums and website who promote or demote a drug and just recklessly say self medicate either with drugs or "natural" therapies saying how its all Chemicals but forget the point we ALL are a bag of chemicals.... Another point i love to laugh at is when people say they have grown their hair by 2-3 cm in just a week or two after starting a therapy natural or medical and tout it as the cure. Have been on 1mg Finasterid since last December and have had absolutely zero side effects. I was put off at first from all the reports about erectile disfunction etc. My dermatologist would not prescribe 5mg though because she was against pill cutting. I get mine from a compoundig pharmacy here, 120 caplets für 98€. Might go on holiday in Turkey for cheaper finasteride though.

I am on it too and no side effects. The fearmongering out there is mostly pushed by trolls who own hair loss forums and sell worthless 'natural' hair loss products. I have concluded this after much research. A good diet with lots of zinc, copper, B vitamins, glycine, folate, betaine, creatine, choline, to also support healthy methylation and T levels in conjunction to finasteride is the only proven way for most people to stop hair loss with the least amount of, and in most cases, no side effects.

Have you ever tried crushing the pieces into a powder and then weighing the powder and adjusting the amount of powder to get a custom small dosage like 0.5 mg? Also, you could get a pill cutter which might make cutting the tablets into equal pieces easier. EDIT:. He has a newer video in which he does exactly this... He crushes the tablet and weighs it to divide a small portion to micro dose.

Instead of cutting them in 8 you can just cut them in 4, save you some work and take 1 piece every other day instead of every day. The weekly dosage will be the same that way and you don't have to throw away so much.

Not everybody can do 1 piece every other day in my opinion. F has pretty short half-life (about 6h). By doing that you´re only blocking DHT every other day. It´s better than nothing though. In my opinion, 0.5mg a day is the best long term strategy.

@@letsgethair I would agree with you actually that it's better. It makes more sense, but at the same time what matters most is the DHT levels in your scalp tissue not your blood. But I'm not sure how that's affected with different dosages. However, since finasteride accumulates in the body it also makes sense that if you keep the same weekly dosage it would accumulate at the same rate. We don't worry about F not being in the blood for the other 18 hours either and it seems to work fine that way too.

@@anthonym9130 aren't you referring to Avodart? Clearly not the case with Finasteride. Fin only stays in plasma for 6 hours (maybe 1-2 hours more if you're lucky). I'd stick to daily dosing of Fin. No skipping days. But even skipping them would be better than nothing though

I would look into supporting T levels and estrogen detoxification with a healthy diet, and healthy methylation. Get enough protein....1 gram per pound of body weight. Enough healthy carbs to support thyroid. Support methylation and T levels with zinc, copper, B vitamins, betaine, creatine, glycine, choline, etc. Get plenty of sleep. Support circadian rhythm by getting proper sleep at same time every night, blocking out blue light 4 hours before bed, and getting at least 15 minutes of sunlight within first two hours of waking up. Take your Vitamin A and D and K2 in the morning with fat also.

@@jacobhorton761 Because the Active Ingredient Finasteride may not be evenly spread out through the tablet. If you cut a 5mg Finasteride tablet in 4 parts, you cant be sure that each part has 1.25 mg of Finasteride. Cut One Pill at a Time so atleast you average 5mg of Finasteride over 4 days.

Does it matter if its Proscar or Finasteride Accord? I can find only Finasteride Accord 5mg, which i cut in 4 pieces. I've took them for like 3 months now. And my shedding stopped alot after second month. I dont see new regrow on hair, but maybe u need to take it for years. The problem is that there is no morning wood and i've got anoying diareha. Hi matt just a suggestion about dozing, if you know the exact weight it milligrams of this substance you could have crushed the entire batch of pills or just a few that will turn into enough powder and then slide slowly on scale until you get the desired weight, then dissolve in fluid and drink (if orally consuming). You mentioned that the pill in a form of powder is useless so I wanted to ask you why? Curious to know

@@carlosawad1132 i still have my hair so i guess it worked especially on the crown area i can notice it become denser , on the front it’s ok but not the same effectiveness , i started late as i was 1 year away from baldness so i started taking minoxidil late 2018 it worked very well like magic , huge growth and now i take (fina + minox) , at this stage to slow the progression is a win for me

sahil alam Finasteride doesn’t lower Testosterone. In studies it actually raises it. But support Testosterone with healthy diet. This means plenty of zinc and copper foods. AMinsk protein zinc sources are the best, like oysters. Get your vitamin A retinal form and Vitamin D and K2 and eat them with fat earlier in the day. Don’t take at night because it messes up circadian rhythm. Get sleep. Get your B vitamins, plenty of protein, build some muscle at the gym, support methylation so excess estrogen can be detoxified, so eat plenty of choice, supplant with betaine if you need too, get folate, and enough glycine. Look up Dr Chris Masterjohns nutrition work on methylation. 1mg if Finasteride itself is already low dose and has very little risk of side effects. At that dose less than 1% of people in good quality large studies and real life patient follow ups get side effects. It’s extremely rare despite all the fear mongering you read. But you can also do 1mg every other day or 3 days per week.

DHT blockers will raise your testosterone slightly since you have less DHT binding to SHBG, which in turn forces your testosterone to boost slightly but it's very minimal and probably won't see a difference muscle wise. Also DHT does nothing to enhance muscle growth which has been shown in studies with people who have zero DHT and still have as much or in some cases more muscle. The only issue you could run into is possibly gyno even tho it's extremely rare. Since you have a slight bit more testosterone with fin that means more can aromatiz into estrogen.

Why would you start now? You have had good success from transplants and other treatments. At this point, finasteride won’t do shit but you at least have been able to go through this without sides or the stress of sides. Now you are getting really nothing from finasteride but have to go every day being nervous of a crash ruining your life. I’m bummed out

Muhammad Atiah Finasteride does not stay in your body for very long. However, it inhibits 5AR2 permanently. Your body needs to create new enzymes once inhibited by Finasteride. Which takes days. So as long as you have inhibited enough 5AR by regular administration, then taking Finasteride every other day will be fine.

Consistency is kry not overdoing it. 5 mg is used for enlarged prostate disorders. Keep it 1 mg 3 times a week. If you had no side effects. Up it to 1.25 mg 3 times a week. Finasteride can stay active within the skin that means scalp. So overdoing might give you side effects. Like every drug please watch your dosage. Balance is key.
