With all the hardware including watercooling and expensive fans the total is just shy of 7700. Fortunately for him a lot of that hardware was provided for free so it’s more like he will spend about 4800-5000 on the entire build in the end, if that. That’s assuming he bought the cpu, gpu, motherboard, case, psu, and some of the watercooling parts, oh and those nas red drives. Boy it would be nice to be a rich youtuber. Where you get paid to show people the things you like, and you get to keep most of them, and ask the companies for whatever you want just to have it for your personal use. Like that new 10980hk 2080 super laptop with dual screens? You can have it. Like that 4k ultra wide 175hz monitor? Sure take it. Like that 1000 dollar 16gb ram kit? Take it. And if your linus level you can ask companies to send you over a dozen 4tb nvme drives for free, even multiple 10k dollar gpus. It’s not fair lol. Equal rights for all pc users.
@p3rrin19974 жыл бұрын
@@MisterRorschach90 It is fair... Every tech KZbin i have seen who gets "Free" hardware has an audience, generally quite large. How many people that watch traditional TV are also likely to drop a bunch of money on a gaming level computer. Why would asus/gigabyte/msi/etc spend a bunch of money on an ad for traditional TV when they can give a tech KZbinr hardware and let them work their magic. Companies wouldn't give expensive stuff like this away without getting something in return. Channels like bitwit, linus tech tips, and gamer's nexus to name a few, probably bring in a huge amount of money for the brands they feature. Their could also be a hidden motive behind just giving the hardware away. Think of it this way, a company has to take the upfront hit of the hardware and labor cost would they not want to make free money down the line? If the KZbinr keeps the product, even better of they use it daily, it's almost like an endorsement. If Linus always has his Razer or HP laptop that's essentially free adverting for the brand. I understand wanting free hardware, or more goodwill from the brands that make up the industry, but by supporting independent content creators they are picking the more fair choice. If they only ran ad's on TV it would be more unfair. Anyone can start a tech channel on KZbin, and with enough skill or charm and a big enough following you can make a case for companies to send you free hardware.

Hey Kyle, I don’t recommend distilled water for metal pipes. Distilled water is an excellent solvent and will leach from your blocks and could corrode them over time (that’s why desalination plants add stuff back to the water after distilling). I’d use a non corrosive liquid in there.

14:40 Hey Kyle, you got the flow direction the wrong way around. Both DDC and D5 pumps have the inlet in the center. The impeller inside the pump then uses centrifugal force to push liquid through the outlet which is located towards the edge of the pump casing. So in that distro plate, it feeds the GPU first. Also, just distilled water or clear coolant? Not sure if straight distilled water will be enough, you might have to add biocide and anti-corrosion additives anyway in which case it's just easier to use a premixed clear coolant.

Kyle, @ 13:00, just move your finger directly to the right... and if you want everything symmetrical, @ 13:03 just stack another "n" shape loop over the top of the top loop. Yeah, adds a bit of length to your cuts, but 1) that's more fluid volume for the cooling, which isn't a bad thing, and 2) solves the issue of blocking the view caused by going over the top of the RAM.

Kyle, use plastic or nylon screws to fix GPU sag. You screw them behind the motherboard where the gpu tabs go into the slots, the slots are too big which is what causes sag not the gpu weight as commonly believed. Jay did this in a video a while back as well and would like you to also so you can show others this cool trick as well. Sag is a case mfr thing that has been plaguing us for 10 years now lol, maybe we can get them to make them slots smaller. Until then nylon screws or even tooth picks will work and no more sag and tidy inside of case with no brackets or stands. You can use metal screws for a more permanent solution just be careful of thread debris before powering on ;) P.S I'd run each part through it's own rad to keep temps even as possible. Water is easily saturated and if you're running a TR4 and go into a GPU you will be limiting how far you can use your GPU as it's heated from the CPU return as well. I know the metal tubing is a pain but get the tools and do the runs right to avoid heat issues down the road. That thicker rad will keep your GPU nice and cool and the upper 360 will handle the TR4 well. I would advise against running the 2 in line and sacrifice a little bit of tidiness to separate those 2 parts. Looking great though cannot wait to see the final build.
Thanks iBotta for sponsoring this video! If you like money you should download their free app here: www.inflcr.co/SH21b Btw I got the loop direction wrong! The pump actually flows towards the GPU first. Thanks guy on Floatplane for bringing this to my attention initially. Monoblock all the way, every time, hands down. Distro plate = options, not limitations. (I've been thinking/dreaming(?) about one for my O11D for a while) I've been sat staring at 15:17 for perhaps a bit too long, thinking about the loop. What say ye to a vertical GPU mount? No more sag, and it shows off the front of the card with the black & nickel. The outlet from the disto plate could go out and over to GPU front, sitting 'behind' the card. Then from GPU back, which would be 'in front' of the card, you could go straight over to either the long riser or the bottom rad, or pretty much anywhere, including the monoblock... A single run straight from top to bottom rad could be interesting. Monoblock out could go straight over and into top rad... I realise that most of the workarounds are leaving sections of the plate unused, but that doesn't mean they can't be used for something else. You could divert flow through any of them, just for the fun of it...

I think you may have the "directionality" wrong at 14:45 For the distroplate I believe the 14mm fitting you have immediately to the top left of the pump is the output of flow. So although you can have it come from the radiator, it would need to be FROM the radiator TO the distro plate (if you wanted that config you originally mentioned). Either way your layout was correct just the flow direction is actually reversed. The pump goes to the GPU GPU up to the CPU (via distro) CPU up to the radiator (via distro) Radiator back to distro Distro to radiator Radiator back to pump (via distro) For the waterblock, the EK standard waterblocks work the best. The spacing between the fittings and height of the tubes are usually standardized and you get the straightest and cleanest bends this way. If you venture away from this, it kind of messes with the straight bend appeal of a distroplate build. If you do decide to change it up; with different heights and spacing of fittings, you might as well go for that sick monoblock. Chok di my Thai brother.

But over all flow direction doesn't matter to much as long as the reservoir feeds the pump. Which in this case it does. Its a easy mistake to make though. I also have a distroblock like this. But its the one that goes in the front of the standard 011 case.

For the waterblock, you really only have 2 options IMO. - Ideally I'd say the monoblock because it's badass, but like you said the bends might not work out and you'd have to rig up some sort of solution with wonky offset fittings... - The realistic, easier approach: Go with that last EK waterblock, for two reasons: 1. It would be the simplest and cleanest (also no RGB on it like the monoblock, since you're doing a minimal-to-no-RGB theme), and 2. It's made by EK. Maybe it's my OCD, but I don't like mixing up brands (at least where the logo is readily visible), lol.

Why use the distro block between the rads? Straight pipe from one to the other eliminates connections, which reduces chances of leaks, though I guess it would also leave a section of the distro empty. If the goal is new industrial, which it seems to be then everything in use fits, but if it is old industrial then having parts unused I think would fit better.

Kyle, I used that EK XE rad about 18 months ago and I noticed that the fittings that block the other side of the inlets corroded very badly after 1 day of liquid exposure. I mean the classic EK look hex key stop fittings but instead of being shiny chrome, they are matt-ish black. I don't know what caused it but they seemed to be very low quality in terms of finish. I replaced the black ones with the regular chrome ones and never had issues with those. I used Mayhems X1 coolant if you're interested.

For the best heat transfer, it may be best to route the fluid from radiator to cpu to radiator to gpu. This should give the lowest fluid temperature at the heat sources and the greatest heat exchanged, as opposed to relatively hot fluid from the cpu straight into the gpu. May mess with the beauty or simplicity of the route, but should be more efficient.

I built a very similar system back in December and wish that EK had the monoblock out at that time. The biggest issue that I have is the top radiator covers the heatsink heat just gets trapped. The fans do kick on at times are are very noticeable. The only concern would be the outlet port is pretty high and may interfere with a top mount radiator unless you use a 90 degree fitting. Will be interesting to see how you integrate it into your build. For reference, I'm using an Phanteks Enthoo 719 with a 360PE radiator on top and a 480PE in the front.

*POWER CONSUMPTION* My estimate on overclocked, stressing everything is roughly 800 Watts (from PSU not wall). My estimate on TYPICAL worst-case (video conversion involving CPU and GPU) would be closer to 500W. Does that sound right? I like to calculate PSU power draw and line that up with FAN NOISE. Some pretty quiet PSU's now that can really quiet (i.e. 10dB) even at up to 70% load.
