I see pros commenting that they are mowing 1 hour lawns for $50 It’s $130 here all day long with the right equipment and good choices of client and lawn. It takes a bit to get there but I hate to see newcomers having to come in at half price to build a client list. So many bid low, then race the clock to make any money. Tears turf up and isn’t great on equipment.

Great video. One thing my cousin and I started doing was to hang door hangers with the price attached for the lawn service we provide. It has paid off well for us. Especially in subdivisions where we can spend a whole day.

good advice ….. my experience over 40 years , don’t get too big … .. primary focus should be in spring rush time you can higher extra help so that when steady the rest of the way through the season , you are busy or Iyou can chose to take some time to yourself once well established

I've got 1 thing to say you don't need any decal you don't need to do that because you don't want to go big when your small you wanna keep prices low and make money I do basic white letters on the side of my truck "McKays Landscaping" simple no one cares doesn't bother nobody I've got just a bunch of old 5.4L f-350s there cheap and rotted out but they run good and are reliable so keep them going as cheap as possible and a bunch of immigrant Portuguese guys dude you don't need anything special like new trucks to make a lot of money all you need is skills and a Walker lawnmower

Great vid! One thing I found to be important was "targeting" my clientele. In what I call upscale areas I found that people watered and fertilized and it took 3 passes to make their lawn look good. I found that I could make more per hour doing middle class lawns, a $30. lawn could be done in 20 minutes. A $50. dollar lawn took an hour and was further away as well.

Thanks for the advice and wisdom. Subbed, watching some of your other videos on starting a business. I'm trying to make spending money on a good zero turn mower for the lawns I need to mow now for family it is taking too much time and energy with a push mower. Having my own business sounds appealing but just not sure.

Great content! I appreciate the "real-ness" and encouragement! Just starting 01 March, had hoped to have everything lined up by 01 Feb... Did not happen, just super pumped to be prospecting, connecting sharing asking for business.. Work the day job and part-time work. Looking forward to cutting back on those because there are more lawns to do! Keep up the great work!

@ScirbbLs

I would guess plowing. Could always get a small side job to stay busy during the winter/ get out of the house like bar tending in your town.. which also can build connections… which can lead to free advertisement for your business ( this isn’t something I have done, but I’ve bartended in the past and you really do make connections with people and build friendships with regulars)

From Thomas you don’t use the primer bulb on the next job no throttle just set to full half and full to start easy and then you no complaints. The next day use the primer bulb. From Mr Thomas James Schmutter.

Inspiring video: I enjoy mowing my yard think Hank Hill. Any suggestions on string trimmers that are easy on the back? I have a straight Husqvarna and wonder if a curved trimmer would help more to put in more hours. I'm 6'1 yet have 3 fractured vertebrae and 2 herniated disc that deters me and can't finish weed eating my front nor back yard in one day; trying to figure out if I get a lawn care growing how I would manage that say I have 10 yards in 1 day? How important is it to leave perfect patterns when mowing yards? I practice on my yard and looks good, but neighbors use a company and god they cut at an angle pattern and looks flawless. Thank you again for this video

I don't have my own business or anything yet but I have a lot of weedeating experience and from what I have found for myself is the curved style actually slows me down. But to each his own.
