I agree with this Isaac fella here I'm referring to the video I watched before Jason, 5 tips about the lawn business. I was in the paint business for 3040 years. What I didn't hear you mention as you were talking about purchasing equipment and this that and the other and you're driving around but what you didn't mention is as an overhead expense How expensive that truck is to maintain you're driving around the cost of fuel for it and the lawn mowers machines whatever they may be..as overhead is damaged near or as expensive as labor.

Great video. I'm just starting a little lawn care business and I'm glad I took the time to watch this. It's great to soak up the experience from people that have been doing it a long time. I'm using battery powered equipment so I think a lot of the maintenance is probably simplified. Batteries do run out of power faster than gas though so that is a little challenge charging and changing batteries a lot. The hardest part is mostly that the batteries are expensive and set a sharp limit on the amount of work I can do in a day. Those little nuances aside, he has a lot of great advice that is relevant to anyone.

One thing to mention, if you don't plan on selling whatever truck you are hauling with, very short drives are actually worse for longevity than longer drives because you're not letting the engine reach operating temps. which means fuel map is running closed loop(rich) and you get worse gas mileage. But if you plan on getting the most resale value just worry about mileage. this mostly applies to people with newer trucks.

This is great information! Thanks! Where abouts are you located in Alabama? I live in the Oxford Anniston area and have recently been knocking around the idea of starting a lawn care/treatment business. At least try it out on the side. Do you think there is a big enough market to do premium/golf course grade residential lawn care (reel mowing, fertilization, weed/fungus treatment, aeration, leveling, fall overseeding) ?
@drakechampion4064
@drakechampion4064 2 жыл бұрын
Also, do you think a business performing golf course grade service to residential customers could become profitable? Or do people tend to not want to pay that amount of money for the highest quality? (including reel mowing low/cutting same lawn at least twice a week)

definatly contact the owner, about the situation. This is also one of those situations where you NEED to be @ that property on an agreed time/day, so they know when to put the animal inside in order for you to do your job saftley.

I deal with this alot as well. One field trip I have is always. Literally always. Make your presence known before entering any backyard. Even if you've literally just shook hands with the customer don't walk silently into the back yard. And the first thing I always do is check for a dog door. I've had it happen multiple times where I've spoken directly to a customer, gone to the back, and still been charged by a dog.
