That's an excellent video and precisely what I was looking for. Clear and insightful explanations... Big thumbs up - new subscriber! I wanted to note however that there are some things missing, and probably the only thing that I disagree with. I had played hundreds of hours when it first came out (gave up afterwards - bad game balancing decisions, erratic or absent communication of dev response and roadmaps, boredom, lack of new content) and I can safely say that PvP was not a full (or almost full as you said) requirement at all. As I generally don't like PvP at all, I didn't even touch it and I played and obtained everything I wanted without any perception of being forced to play PvP at all. As for Aeternum, I didn't see any reference in this review to what I see to be a common player complaint these days: that the best-in-slot items and those of the top item level are only obtained from the raid or the PvP zone. There are many players like me that don't do raids or PvP, and don't want to be artificially forced into playing these for the chance at obtaining the best gear that the game has to offer. There should have been a chance of obtaining this through any high-level PvE activity. (Edit: yes, I know you have a video covering this, but what I am saying is that a review video should have info addressing this concern, as it is important) Another thing that I wanted and expected to see (but didn't) is what happens with the old characters before the Aeternum upgrade that have been left unplayed for ages. I have one with houses, chests, gear, upgraded skills etc. and I wouldn't want to see them wasted.

This was an easy to understand and well made video. Despite being an older gamer who loves RPGs and had a love a while back for certain MMOs, I never played this one. Im waiting for thr Black Friday ps+ subscription sale and maybe a sale for the game itself on the PS5. Despite a comment here about the crafting, most reviews and feedback Ive read has been extremely positive about the crafting, so Im looking forward to trying that too.

If you can get it on sale, it's definitely worth it. I spent the first few days of the new servers just crafting. I enjoy that part of the game a lot

This game seems very interesting, it's been on my radar for a few months now. Thank you for your review. Based on what I've seen in the Aeternum version, it seems this game *might* be able to compete with my love for DC Universe Online. In my opinion, that game has the best MMO gameplay to this day and I've never found another MMO that can hook me in like DCUO did. I always return to DCUO for a month or two then take a break cause the game needs a big graphics overhaul and PvP has been dead for years but man. I just need something to compete that also has a flourishing player-base. Hopefully this game goes on sale soon so I can try it out.

If you're looking for the PvP experience I would recommend against it until AGS decides to actually patch the broken state of PvP right now. Aside from that, the main quest, side quests, expeditions, leveling experience, and overall PvE experience is really fun.

@@BraidedZero PvP is more so a means to switch up things and have a balance between PvE and PvP experiences for me. I like to switch it up. Still looking forward to trying out the game at some point!

I have been playing WoW since it was released 20 years ago, I used to carry on with end game Raids back in Vanilla, Molten Core, Naxx etc, but once TBC got released I stopped doing end game content, what for? Just a few extra bits of gear? I did play New World on PC 2 years ago, but only played 3 hours, now fast forward to now and I just purchased New World Aeternum on my Series X and I am loving it, the leveling and quests are fun, farming matts ( which is what I love to do ) as I am the sort of player that will max out its crafting system if I can, but does that mean I will carry on with end game gameplay? No, I will reach what I can Gear wise and crafting, then stop. I am too old now to be bothered with chasing gear just for a GS of an extra 1 or 2 points, I'll enjoy MMO's the way I like to play, and have fun doing it.

I like that style of play. Of course I'm one of those people that chases the best gear but I respect people who enjoy a different play style and would rather just relax and gather resources.

NGL, Think the endgames good. we got a good raid, it's more fun than I've found vs tab target mmo raids. just need more of them. once we have 3, and you can keep changing rewards. Now we're onto something. big L not adding hive leaderboards though...

Once there are a few more raids it will be a ton better. I equate this game to Destiny. It was tough when the game first came out but after 10 years there is so much to do in that game

I put in about 20-30 hours on console so far, I'm completely new to the game as well, I heard about it when it first came out but the reviews wasnt so good so I stayed away and naturally it died. So I was skeptical to buy it now but I now heard great things about it and that it played good on console, also I had recently tried TnL reached endgame there and was already bored because lvling experience was meh and at endgame it was nothing but terrible RNG for gear with time gated content and stunlock PvP so nothing interesting, also PvE felt terrible. So I needed a new mmorpg to waste time on and I'm so glad I bought the game, already from the start it felt better than TnL both in the atmosphere and gameplay and a lot of other things. So coming from an absolutely terrible mmorpg experience for me this felt amazing, now I am at lvl 60 so I haven't reached endgame yet but even if it sucks I at least enjoyed my experience to get there so I will give them that. I already know from previous mmorpgs endgame tends to be bad and al you do is login daily to get some stuff then there is nothing to do unless you have a bunch of friends and a guild going. I will dive into joining a company and trying the PvP stuff once I get to 65 and I will see then how it feels. But again if I can get 100 hours of fun or more for a 60$ game I think it's acceptable considering you get the same amount in singleplayer games if not less sometimes. People just needs to learn that you cant expect to find a game you can play for the rest of your life, if you can that is great but don't expect it because it almost never happens. So move on to another game until new content is added then come back.

I agree. I spent $60 so far and have almost 600 hours in the game. I'd say that's pretty good.

Crafting is mainly bags, tools, and matrices. You can craft 725 gear but it takes a hefty amount of investment. Tbf unless you are flush with gold, paying, on my server, 15k per matrix, is not very easy and you could likely craft those faster than the money to outright buy them.

The game is killed because of horrible game design, the game is basically a solo game, and it’s best enjoyed as solo….very weird
@BoredAndBrowsing21 күн бұрын
It's and ARPG, not an mmo, let's not forget this. There are group content, but most of the leveling process is solo...which is normal in an mmo anyway, no? I don't think there is an mmo that requires a group to level up, not one, none at all. And yes, while the leveling process is solo, you still have alot of group content, whether you choose to participate is on you. I mean, even the chest runs are a group activity...sure you could solo it yourself, but it would take you the whole day vs a couple hours with a hundred other players. So tell me, what part outside of the leveling process is a solo game? Do tell.
@BraidedZero21 күн бұрын
I feel they heavily concentrated on the solo experience up to endgame. After that you need to do multiplayer otherwise I believe your endgame will be very limited.
@ninponighthawk15 күн бұрын
The story is solo, as every story is...to my knowledge. After the story you will be very hard pressed to do any content a lone if not unable to period.
