i went the other way :( ...i wish this could be the case with me. when i started running i wouldnt listen to anything, i even did 50km (about 5h run) with no music/podcasts etc and completely alone. Now a few years on i almost always listen to my fave music/podcast. Its like a bad habit i didnt used to have but now i do find it so hard to stop. i dont want to....but i get too bored now 😅

Honestly, as a cross country runner, the best thing I can say for a new runner (or someone in their off season) is to just run. Don’t have a super specific distance or time in mind. (For instance, instead of saying “I want to run 3 miles today” or “I’m going to run a 7:30 minute mile today” say stuff that has room for leeway “I want to run at least 2 miles today.) It might not seem like a big difference but not putting pressure on yourself makes it more enjoyable. Listen to music, and make sure it’s something you really like. Make sure your shoes fit properly and your clothes don’t annoy you because you think that slightly itchy tag is fine right now, but while you’re running, it’ll be all you can think about. Find somewhere you enjoy running, and try not to do the same thing every day. I hate running on treadmills, so I run around parks and things like that, and I find I enjoy it more if it’s someplace ‘new’. (Different route, or just a different place to make it interesting.) If you want some more specific tips I’ll be happy to give some. Happy running!

Great tips - one I’ve adopted is rewarding myself when I reach certain milestones! It’s been humbling getting back into running with a lot more weight than when I used to run years ago..but listening to my body and strengthening certain muscles (all of them) instead of running through pain has been life changing. I’m so glad your channel exists!!

Great video! As a former hater who started running half a year ago I can approve of these tips 😄 I especially recommend podcasts/audio books. It makes it more enjoyable and it's easier to keep a steady pace compared to listening to music which changes much more. (But I also listen to music every now and then to mix it up). I would also say it's important to start slow, especially if you're not super sporty. Start going on walks regularly, then start fast walking (so you sweat), then mix running and walking until you're ready to run for longer at a time. Also important to prevent injuries. And really don't care about your pace. I hated running because I always thought I need to run as fast as I can every time and then would feel completely exhausted and that's of course not enjoyable at all. But going for a run where you give your best according to your individual level is actually quite nice I found. Anyway, again, great video and appreciate all the running content! 😊

In the past I didn't enjoy running, because I always pushed myself too hard and forbid myself to listen to music to concentrate more on my breathing to get a better running result. I didn't enjoy that. Someday I went for a run and thought to myself just go as slow as you can and remind yourself to slow down while running. And with that I enjoyed my music and since then I love running 😊 Love your videos! Thanks for sharing :) ❤

As for eating dinner while watching a video and scrolling on your phone, that my dear is ADHD and I do it all the time… in fact, I was doing it while watching your video and eating breakfast… it’s okay… our brains are busy. Cold hands hack. Before you go out, put your gloves in your layers. I unzip my coat and tuck my gloves at the top along my shoulders/top part of my chest and let them get warm while I grab the last bits of my kit or go for my last pee/warm up. Then I put on one glove before going out and only put on my dominant hand glove after I start my run tracker (Strava). That way, both my hands are as warm as they can be at the beginning of my run. I put my gloves on the opposite side of the body as it makes it easier to grab, and I do this while I run if I need to take off my gloves for any reason. Learned habits make things easier. I hope that makes sense.

I started my running journey about a month ago and my goal is three times a week, but I don’t try to pressure myself into running three times. It’d start to feel like an obligation otherwise 🤷‍♀️ This could be a piece of advice for people who are thinking about starting to run, because nobody likes the feeling of another obligation when there’s already so many obligations in life.

For me, reading is a huge part of my mental health/wellness routine, so I would love videos on your reading habits. I often read a physical book while walking on a treadmill or on a stationary bike and use audiobooks to decompress or while lifting. I find that if I'm reading consistently, I am generally all around healthier. But please give all the book recs, not just the self help books all the fitness people like to preach. I want to know which trashy romcoms you're into too please!!!!

Of course I want a book video…girl I love how your mind works, you can assume that if you have a video idea I’ll be interested. But I appreciate that you ask and include your community. ☺️✨

7:43 it took me about 1.5 years to transition from heel striking to mid foot striking. I felt like I had to as it was too taxing on my knees. It was hard to change a habit of a lifetime

I loved this video ad your running cloth always look so cool 😁🤩 I need a west like that. What helps me make runs more fun is sing a song while I'm running because that also helps me slow down so I can actually sing and be in that zone 2 xD

I recommend going running knowing that you have your music when you really want it, but trying to see if you can go for even at least part of your run without it. 😊❤

I started running in January but had to stop in july because of a knee pain. Tried getting back into it in September but the pain came back 😢 waiting on medical instructions to know what is causing it and if I can ever go back to it

Just got back from my run, keep one pushin brothers and sisters. Running outside is the best mind therapy, studies even show it can form new neurological connections in your brain reducing brain fog and helping cognitively like memory and comprehension. We all could use that in these absurd times.
