My 1972 Buick Riviera Build Recap. Still a long way to go!

Put together a little video showing the progression of my build. I've done a lot but still have a long way to go. Changing the color scheme, new rims, interior, back halved and tubbed, qa1 suspension, tubular a-arms, wilwood brakes and who knows what else. Stay tuned!

Congrats on your build. i love the color. I owned my 72 Riv for around 17 years. Wish I still had it. Mine had the factory buckets and console with floor shift. It hurts to think what I sold it for and to see what a basket case goes for now.

Born & raised on the North side by Girard. Almost bought one in HS 1974. A 72 model Green, took it for a ride & actually watched the gas gauge drop! Went w/ A 400 Grand Prix.. Nice whip

Thank you! It rode pretty good. Only downfall was that you could feel more of the imperfections in the road due to the low profile tires. No rubbing, stock suspension.

Comes w/ the territory, I have 20s on my 18 Cadillac. 20s aren't bad but pushing it to 22" ,I wouldn't want to drive it as much.

Nice build I have a 72 buick and had the rear end done tire and shaft came off together did the rear end froma crown victoria fit right up. I want to go to a double posi. Also could you please let me know where your cluster. Man that thing is sick.

Thanks. Yeah I only had to do minor changes to the crown vic rear end when I got it. The digital dash is from a company called Intellitronix.

Used mounts from a chevy G20 van. Running a 4l60e trans

I had to use a small spacer on the rear wheels but that's it.

Bro did you do any brakes upgrade ? And did you have a 455 in there before the swap and if so why did you change it out?

Just put slotted and drilled rotors up front. Swapped the rear end out for a ford 8.8 with disc brakes. About to upgrade to 14 inch rotors and 6 piston brakes up front and 4 piston brakes in the back. Yes, I had the 455. It needed to be rebuilt and I could build 2 ls motors for the price of building up that 455. Also, wanted something I could just jump in and turn the key and roll.

I’m out of Dayton so when I came across a fellow buckeye with a 72 it made my day, father in law gave me and my wife a 72 riv this week so this will be my second build. I built a 78 regal with all the upgrades with a 6.0 LS I rebuilt myself about to put coilovers in the back before the end of summer and hope to add vintage air conditioning this winter before I start the 72. If you know anyone who might want that 455 hit me up.

A company called Intellitronix. They don't make one specifically for the boat tail so you will have to get their Create A Dash Kit.

That's a honda color. Basecoat clear. I think it was PPG but not sure.

Love it. Only changes I'd make if it was mine was maybe do the wheels black to match the top and interior instead of paint matched and I'd drop the front some instead of the squatted stance but shit its ur car not mine

Do you like that Riviera? It’s just too bad that you’re modifying it because those were a low production car and of course top-of-the-line. I like them best when they’re all original and clean by the way I owned a 71 for 18 years bought it when it was four years old should I kept it

Yes I love it. And I like modified/custom cars. I like all original cars too. I’m going to get another one that I will keep all original.
