When I was a little young boy, I used to think that people would get rhinoplasties to look like an actual rhino. And that was exactly what I wanted to be when I grew up, a rhino. Then I watched this girl getting a nose job on TLC, and her nose started growing hair because they took skin of her forehead or something like that. That's when I understood my whole life had been a lie. My dreams of becoming a rhino were shattered, and I was heartbroken. Hmm…I think the best bet is to do initial research on doctors who specialise in the type of surgery you want, then from there narrow it down to 2/3 doctors. From there I would say book a no-obligation consultation with all 3 of them and see what they all have to say, instead of basing your decision on one doctor’s advice. Because clearly the doctor she chose wasn’t particularly up to date with the best methods of cartilage harvesting for rhinoplasty, and for the doctor to say 30% of his patients need a revision is not reassuring at all. For example, I’ve been thinking about a breast augmentation for a while. I haven’t gone through with it yet, but I saw one doctor who only advised me on making the incision under my breast or around the nipple, the second doctor advised me of those two methods plus an armpit incision, which is the least obvious for scarring. If I would have just settled on the first doctor, I would never have known about the additional methods there are out there.

I worked for a plastic surgeon and most times surgery doesn't come out exactly as you want because it depends how your body heals and everyone is different. The surgeons can so everything by the book, but sometimes your body and gravity will just work against yours and your doctor's plans.

As a woman with a big and prominent nose, and a small face that makes it look even bigger, I received a lot of bad comments on it, mainly by men that were mad I wasn't fitting whatever standard they had. I was even told that I looked like a witch or "too bad you have a big nose" as if I could have been pretty otherwise. Well, too bad I ain't interested in making everyone fall in love with me lol I was always baffled when someone would say something negative about my nose because I really like it. I have a big nose with a small bump and a small face. I never saw anything wrong with it until a female family member pointed that its big and that it would be nice to have surgery. Since that day I've started looking at my nose differently and felt like it "took away from my potential beauty". Fast forward a few years later, another female friend was staring at me then said I have such a beautiful nose.. that it has a high bridge and looks nice (she has a small button nose with a low bridge) and I was so pleasantly shocked! Never in my life would I think ANYONE would see my nose as desirable. Over the years, I started to embrace it and take more side photos without feeling embarrassed. I think it fits my face well but it doesn't fit the current conventional beauty standard. We women are pieces of walking art despite our shape, size or color. Your nose offended those men because you look more "real" than many photoshopped fantasies that they have. They see women as objects that's why they feel entitled to speak about your appearance in such a way. These aren't the type of men you want and deserve. Consider it a blessing from God that they showed you their true colors early on so you can save yourself for a man that appreciates you as you are.

This always piss me off. I don’t have big nose but when someone (sometimes even other woman) point out about me why don’t you change your eyebrows or loose weight or something with surgery . Like sorry I don’t bother about it why do you bother then? Like I personally don’t care how other people look and what they do with their looks. Only when you are my partner or interest in partner. Personally I let myself my big eyebrows and just change it only little bit so they look more even. But I actually like the effect it makes to my eyes they are more noticeable even when I don’t use make up.

they still need to pay the anesthesiologist and facility which is a large fee, and they are not the ones who are changing the nose are not them, they need to be paid for their work and the costs of medicine and care. the surgeon even if they do a good job there is always risks unfortunately, and they still need to be paid for their work. so i don't see having a highly discounted fee for a revision to be an issue

I’m Middle Eastern and my nose looked fantastic as soon as the cast came off 10 days later. I’m really happy with the result (I got my tip lifted and reduced, and also my nostrils narrowed), it’s subtle enough that no one can tell (it just looks like a slightly smaller, slightly more lifted/defined version of my old nose)...but it makes a huge difference in my facial proportions. I did (and still do) have a ‘Semitic’ nose, and did NOT want a ‘Europeanized’ look (ie. Upturned/button nose look), so I made that VERY clear to my surgeon (who was Middle Eastern himself so he understood), I just wanted it abit smaller to be in better proportion with the rest of my face. Best part was that I only paid slightly less than $3k on top of achieving a great result. Recovery was also breeze, as what I had was a ‘closed rhinoplasty’. It’s been 10 years, and I can say that my nose still looks beautiful. Moral of the story: understand your own face, make sure your expectations are realistic and what you want actually suits you, and last but never least, research your surgeon and ask them to show you their before/after pictures. I find that when it comes to face work (especially noses) it helps to deal with a surgeon who has a lot of experience working on faces that are of your race/ethnicity.

Yeah very rarely is a person so disgustingly ugly that they would need to dramatically destroy and rebuild their body just to look attractive, personaly I'm for the natural look too. If one want to go for beuty surgery even slight changes is sometimes enough, it makes me sad when people destroy themselves because they were unable to apreciate what they were born with. Like literal supermodels/movie stars be out here getting plastic surgery and stuff. If that doesn't tell you that the chase for perfection beuty is impossible I don't know what will. Okay it's their choise but it's not at all nececary and sometimes it makes them look way worse than they did before. At some point you're just gonna have to say "I'm good enough as I am, with my flaws" because if one keeps chasing perfection then you're playing a losing game and will make yourself miserable. And some people have serious mental illness where they have body dysmorphia and so they keep doing more and more surgery into infinity because they see themselves as monsters in the mirror and that's very sad. Or just learn to love your appearance with your flaws and don't do surgery, that's 100% natural beuty afterall.

I hate though it is listed as a "deformity " now when you research rhinoplasty, almost like everyone with a dorsal hump *should * get a nose job because noses aren't supposed to have them. But, it is normal and natural. It's a nose shape ! I am too scared to get rhinoplasty and I am in my mid-40s so now i am dealing with sagging face and neck. I have bigger fish to fry. I remember badly wanting a rhinoplasty when I was young, beauty standard wise a flat wide nose isn't something people seemed to find attractive. I've also seen tons of people with my nose type doing surgery to change it, naturally I grew terribly insecure to a point of crying about my own image and wanting surgery badly. Over the years I worked out of that mindset, instead of conforming to the beauty standards I instead set out to create my own. If we all did surgery to follow the standards, then the world I feel like would be boring because we'd all look the same way.

i feel for Kayla. know what she's going through. i had nose job 17 years ago and was very disappointed. i had a hump on my nose as well. i have long narrow nose with tiny nostrils. i wanted hump completely gone. i showed doctor pictures of the nose i would like if possible. i wanted a kind of Spanish nose, a little wider and and "flatter ". i did not get that at all!! the hump was gone, but, my nostrils were pinched in😮. A few months later, my hump came back, not as big as before though. I should also mention that i did not receive enough anesthesia and felt them rasping down my nose and heard them talking to each other. I couldn't speak because the muscles are paralyzed under anesthesia, so in my mind i was telling them it hurt, but, nothing came out of my mouth!! Hurt like hell😢😢😢 When i told doctor that i heard conversation, she said, " no, i didn't say that, you must have been dreaming!". How would i know that she asked for the rasp and asked the other doctor how my nose looked on the other side?? Of course she wouldn't admit it, it would lead to a possible lawsuit. Twenty months later, a difficult doctor, same hospital, shaved down the hump again while i had local anesthesia. Hump came back AGAIN!!!!😢😢 Still have it. I'm very disappointed, but, cannot afford to do it again. Wish i had Dr. Linkov! I'm still very insecure about my nose and very angry with both doctors who obviously had a very poor sense of aesthetics. If Dr. Linkov ever wants to do a teaching case, please contact me 😊

I worked for a plastic surgeon and most times surgery doesn't come out exactly as you want because it depends how your body heals and everyone is different. The surgeons can do everything by the book, but sometimes your body and gravity will just work against yours and your doctor's plans. I wish more people knew that before going under the knife because I feel so many patients aren't aware of how much is actually out of the doctor's control. If that's you on the profile pic though I think you look great :)

Honestly, if my life depended on drawing accurate depictions of all my loved one’s noses…I’d be SO screwed. I got a rhinoplasty when I was 18, I had a big dorsal bump which I got removed and my bulbous tip was reduced. I don't regret doing it at all - my doctor was great, the healing was easy and I got what I wanted, and my nose still looks natural and no one noticed. That being said, oddly enough I'm still insecure about my nose lol, it's still a rather big nose but not as wonky as it used to be. I have a lot of insecurities in general though and I would never get another nose job (because I got exactly what I asked for and I'm satisfied with it, and I don't want to look unnatural). But I feel like that is something to keep in mind as well, you may grow out of insecurities over time and you may also develop new ones with your new "face", especially with social media and how so many human features are treated as trends. Then I started to like my nose a lot! It’s a copy paste trait from my great grandmother who’s native. She’s 90 something years old at the moment and her nose aged beautifully just like the rest of her cute face. Wouldn’t change it now even if the surgery was affordable tbh… Not only would it be a pain in the ass the whole recovery process, but I also have a dust allergy so I can’t imagine what it would be to sneeze and all the itchiness while I have a tender nose. Btw, this doctor’s voice is so soothing, asmr style. He could be a model too! He’s pretty attractive 😩

I’m binging on your videos and love them -thanks for the great videos. I’m a nurse who had a facelift at age 50-no medical conditions, avid road bike rider, thought I would breeze through this surgery. The first thing that happened was I brady’d down in the OR (I have extremely low BP), and then I got life-threatening ischemic colitis 2 weeks after surgery. The cardiologist suspected the blood pressure meds mixed with the pain meds topped off with dehydration gave me such low BP’s that it created a perfect storm for this to happen. I was vomiting and had a GI bleed 2 weeks after surgery and my surgeon said if I hadn’t healed so quickly for the past 2 weeks, and because I had followed his aftercare guidelines to the tee, this entire surgery was averted from disaster. I was lucky and recovered fully, but even the healthiest of people -even those of us who think that “complications wont happen to me” can have very serious complications. I cant emphasize just how important it is for surgeries like this be done with thought and consideration, and by experienced, competent surgeons. They all come with potential risks, and following the physicians direction and aftercare can save you from a seriously devastating outcome.

I am grateful after I recover from my cold. I can't imagine that everyday from a result of surgery. She would cover her other nostril and it literally wouldn't move. Breathing in or out. She was treated very badly and her concerns were not addresses at all. Pandemic aside, they could've taken her more seriously.

I used to be indifferent about my nose and thought it fit my face quite well. I remember as a teenager showing my mom some selfies that I liked and her saying I looked like the "wicked witch of the west" with how big my nose looked. Now it's the only thing I can see in selfies and have a hard time taking pictures of myself or sharing them because all I see is my nose taking up the whole screen. I still like the way I look in the mirror though. Honestly it's made me consider plastic surgery sometimes but in the end I don't think the risk is worth it, especially if it took someone else putting me down to even notice the "problem" in the first place.

My primary rhinoplasty was performed and BOTCHED BY A WORLD RENOWN FACE TRANSPLANT SURGEON located in NYC. He narrowed my bridge but did not address my wide alar base so the result looked strange to say the least. He rotated my tip to an unflattering degree and left my nostrils piggy shaped. He left me with a deviated septum, collapsed right nostril, polly beak deformity, overall asymmetry and worst of all I have a random bony fragment floating around in my radix area. When I brought to his attention he dismissed all claims because apparently a man who performs face transplants can do no wrong and his ego is egregious! Thank god the rhinoplasty was free of charge through insurance for ffs surgery. I went to a different surgeon for my revision rhinoplasty who did a COMPLETE OVERHAUL! He corrected polly beak, added a very slight ski-slope which he was against because he only does natural results but he made a small exception for me after what I had been through. Straightened and corrected deviated septum. Performed alar base reduction and fixed rotation. Strengthened and supported my tip (thick skin) with cadaver grafts and now I have to most amazing tiny nose of my dreams!! 😭😍🙌🏼 My tips to anyone looking into rhinoplasty, try not to go to instagram doctors or doctors with a huge following because not only will their rates be ridiculously higher because of their notoriety and demand but they will usually have a disgusting ego to match. Do try to go to surgeons that do charity work on children with cleft palates and facial deformities. Not only will they have the skill and expertise to tackle the most difficult cases but they are equally as compassionate and have amazing bedside manner. Fun fact: some individuals may qualify for a discounted rhinoplasty through their health insurance so read the fine print of your policy. Good luck to all 💕👃🏼🤗

I agree with you. Septal and conchal cartilage would have sufficed to create a septal extension graft and tip grafts for tip augmentation. Limited dorsal and radix augmentation was needed in this particular case, given the natural high dorsum, and harvesting costal cartilage seems like overkill. I would reserve it for revision cases, in those needing concomitant septal reconstruction, or in patients needing a substantial amount of dorsal augmentation. Unless she had a previous septoplasty and there was insufficient septal material, costal cartilage was a big call for this nose.
@sunshinesmile94
@sunshinesmile94 2 жыл бұрын
@@divinegoddesstarot1111 that is what I said. Depleted cartilage stores: If she has had a prior septoplasty, it is highly possible there is insufficient septal cartilage to harvest. If it is a revision case, septal and conchal cartilage stores may certainly likely be depleted, which is an indication for using costal cartilage. She looks like she has a virgin nose however. Weak cartilage: Whilst it is true the septal cartilage in Asian patients is often significantly smaller and thinner than Caucasians, when combined with harvesting BOTH conchal cartilages, it is usually sufficient for THIS type of nose. Damaged cartilage... Even if the septum has multiple fracture lines which renders it a poor graft material, unless she has a history of contact sports with bilateral pinna haematomas and cauliflower ears, the likelihood of "damaged" conchal cartilage in both ears is highly low. I stand by what I wrote. Costal cartilage was a big call for this case.
