omg an mblaq reaction in 2024!! they used to be my fav group back in 2012 and i still go back to listen to their music sometimes. the one you said that he looks young was actually the 2nd youngest of the group, his stage name is Thunder (Park Cheondoong) and he is Sandara Park's (2ne1) brother actually.

I never thought I'd see someone react to MBLAQ in 2024 but I'm so so happy you did (and hopefully more reactors will check them out)!! They were one of my favorite boy groups at the time (still have some of their albums at home). I still remember when they debuted with Oh Yeah. Joon in that MV was just 😍 (well, he always is but he was also my bias so 😅)
@eleslie94097 ай бұрын
Clicked as soon as I saw this. Loved MBLAQ so much still and A+ (fandom name). They were Rain's first victims at horrible group management to be followed by Madtown and Ciipher. But unlike the other two MBLAQ did have quite good success in gen2 that fizzled out. I tell my bestie to play Smoky Girl by them at every important event of my life. Be A Man is also a slower more vocal heavy song also Mirror which was their last song and only 3 members left. For This Is War, he saves his target and falls for her while treating her, leaves her to his friend while he goes off and does crime/assassin stuff, then they get together... so he feels betrayed since he had come back with tickets for the two of them to flee together... essentially. Y's MV is actually unrelated, I guess they just loved having girls cheat on Joon and him get all angry with a gun for story, he is the actor idol of the group (still acts in big dramas). Joon and Seungho (short hair/kyungsoo/attractive man) are the most active still with Seungho doing musicals. Main vocal G.O left entertainment life and got married, Thunder still dabbles but recently got married. Mir the actual maknae has kinda laid low, randomly appears here and there, like Thunder he also had a successful older sister though she is an actress so they have done things together.

I've been a Kpop fan since 2008 and started studying Korean in around 2011, studied it at university in 2013 and moved to South Korea in 2015 and I have always said that I actually prefer not understanding kpop songs. I never understood them to start with, just like when I was a huge MBLAQ fan and had no clue about the lyrics, I just loved the song. I just thought the sound, the dance, the vocals were great. Even after studying Korean I always tune out to translating in my head because I genuinely think kpop is better experienced without it. Unless it's a deep ballad or rap song. But even then, some deep ballads I just wanna hear the feeling. I don't know if any of that makes sense, but it's why I often am like "noooo" when kpop reactors turn the captions on. IMO, kpop is all about the feeling and vibe unless it's absolutely necessary and actually a good example of that is the lyrics to This Is War; you can easily follow the MV without the lyrics but the lyrics add to it. I actually like it when reactors react to older kpop that have no subs because I'm like yes! this is the actual authentic experience of this song! we didn't have subs back then! We had to wait a day or so before someone subbed the music video and uploaded the subbed one on a fan channel. Also I'm thrilled you're reacting to the BEST MBLAQ songs, although their debut song Oh Yeah should have replaced Mona Lisa IMO. I still remember MBLAQ and BEAST (the best BEAST song is Bad Girl; the ultimate kpop bop, don't let anyone tell you otherwise) debuting at the same time. Such a great kpop era. Stay by MBLAQ and also Cry by MBLAQ are criminally forgotten bangers imo. It absolutely makes sense that Stay was your second favourite and Cry was your fave because they're exactly what kpop should be. I recommend Teen Top; a group you should absolutely do a throwback video for. I recommend To You, Crazy, Miss Right, Ah-Ah and Rocking by Teen Top. To this day, people say Teen Top are unbeatable alongside INFINITE in terms of syncronised dance and absolute bangers. And what you said about Stay by MBLAQ... Teen Top are just pure kpop bops. Not unique, just so much fun and so catchy. I can't see anyone else explaining this MV so: He's an assassin hired to kill her but he's fallen in love with her, other people are out to also kill her so he saves her. He takes her to his home where his brother lives. He has to go away for a few days so leaves a note asking his brother to take care of her. his brother and her fall in love. he comes back and feels betrayed but also wants them to both be happy so sacrifices himself for their happiness - hence the plane ticket at the end - it was for himself and her but he was giving it to them to run away together. He wasn't learning that technique for that reason, it just happened to come in handy for him. Personally, I think that This Is War is one of the best Kpop MVs and songs ever. The costumes may be OTT but they work with the dance, and the dance? It may not be super complicated but my god does it work so well with the song and mv. Their B-side to this actually got banned in terms of them doing the choreography live on TV because the broadcasting companies were worried they'd injure themselves. It's called Run and it did have a few live performances with the original choreography before the choreography was banned and they had to change it. I also highly recommend checking out INFINITE's Hoya's dance performance to the song "Close"... absolutely phenomenal and won him the competition. I could genuinely (as you can probably tell) write a thesis on older kpop (1990s-2015) so if you have any questions... i'm begging you to ask me. You want the best ballads in kpop? come to me. trust me, I know. I was 12 when I got into kpop, I'm 29 now. I remember my joggers had holes in the knees from me learning the Cry dance. I experienced the breakup of TVXQ, the greatest vocal group Kpop will ever have and have been trying to replicate ever since. I know everything you wanna know or hear. P.S. Have you ever seen people wear beige as well as MBLAQ do in this MV?

Warmly recommend checking out or reacting to Be a man and Mirror. It showcases their vocals a lot better. I've heard countless Kpop groups and vocalists in the last 15 years but G.O is truly one of the best of the best. Always has and always will be, you can feel the emotions in his voice and he sings from the heart.

Would love a Throwback Thursday on B1A4. They are still an active group and released an MV a few months ago, but a lot of their older songs are so nostalgic for me like Beautiful Target, OK, What's Happening?, Tried to Walk, Solo Day, Lonely, Only Learned Bad Things, Baby Goodnight, Baby I'm Sorry...that's a lot lol. If I had to pick 5, it would be: 1) Beautiful Target 2) What's Happening 3) Baby good night 4)Tried to Walk 5) Lonely

Thank you for reacting to MBLAQ!! They're my best friend's ult group, and fun fact is when MBLAQ debuted it was on the same day with Highlight (formerly known as BEAST) back in the day. If you had seen any kdramas, you might have seen Lee Joon in some cause he is mostly now just an actor, also both Thunder and he were knowns for their dancing in the group. I'm sure everyone else has mentioned it but yes, Thunder is Sandara Park's younger brother...Also he had announced that he was dating former Gugudan memeber, Mimi, for 4 years and will be getting married May of this year. Mir, the one who was rapping in "This Is War" is the makane of the group, and back in the day there used to be the joke that Hongki of FTIsland and him looked like twins. Both Seungho and G.O. are well knowwn for their vocals. Seungho, the one who you said reminded you of D.O., is the leader of the group, and when he auditioned to join JTunes it was because his grandfather had told him to follow his dreams and not to live in regret for not pursuing it like he had. G.O. is now a streamer on Afreeca TV because he explained in a past stream that he would not return as an idol due to how shady and bad their contract had been; he got married to actress Choi Ye-seul in 2019. Also there's nothing wrong with your take on Stay being a generic dance song, it's a fair take because I think because you've seen other groups do it now, it makes sense. However, back in the day MBLAQ was one of the first groups to do that, so it definitely hit different back then compared to now, again nothing wrong with the take. Also fun fact, during one of their on stage performance of Y, Jee Joon's outfit had a wardrobe malfunction to the point instead of fixing he finished his performance shirtless and that almost got the group banned form stage performance. Again there's nothing wrong with your take on what MBLAQ's music, because like I had mentioned in early 2010's KPOP, it was unique as where compared to Kpop now it does feel common. Also the one who you said is your favorite is G.O. I would like to recommend if you do react again to MBLAQ is their debut song, "Oh Yeah", that song especially blew up in the hispanic/latin community for a lot of kpop fans. Other song re commendations would be "Smoky Girl" and "Be A Man".

Love is War MV is so sad. The betrayal. Like if imagine how he felt saving a girl he liked, leaving her with his younger brother to recover while he goes out to work again. Comes back just to find out his younger brother and his girl are in a relationship.🥲

No one should judge you for saying Stay is their most generic title track; it absolutely is LOL. It was the second part to Cry, and was meant to hit the more mainstream market and hopefully start a new trend (it hit too early, sadly). But it was basically living in Cry’s shadow. Yeeeeaaaah, early 2010s was the age of drama, angst and bad boys LOOOL. I hope someday you might be interested in viewing the rest of their MVs, since they don’t have very many left. I especially recommend Smoky Girl and Be A Man.

I was gonna write such a very long comment lol XD but kind people in the comments said it all 💕 MBLAQ have way more than what catches the eye .. They one of the most iconic and unique groups.. You know that one group that makes the songs that are a head of their times? Or the ones who don't follow the trends? They were that group.. Never really stick to a certain vibe or concept and they were the manly grown up men.. They had a lot of fanboys and people often commented at that time that whenever they wanted more of a manly different group they would pick MBLAQ.. I always feel glad that I was their duting their active days (2009-2015) and saw them on music shows and variety shows, they were actually called Kings of Variety Shows due to their very fun personality and how they make any show funny as long as they appear on it.. I was an A+ and I will forever be.. Well as obvious of my pictuure (Mir) and name 😆 Never too late to stan MBLAQ and be an A+ 💕 Also they always every once in a while hint to us that there is a chance they might come back but who knows.. It could happen or iti could not.. We will just wait.

People did talk a lot about them already but what I didn't really see is WHY they disappeared. The main thing is that their agency/company bankrupted due to a really shady CEO that robbed the artists (kind like what happened with so many other smaller agencies and groups like B.A.P/Secret, early Eric Nam's career and Spica). Rain did get mostly of the blame because they were promoted as "Rain/Bi" boygroup but it was mainly the agency they were signed to (which was not Rain's business). A lot of people like to close their eyes to that kind of stuff (smaller groups being mishandled/mistreated by agencies) and focus more on the bigger names being mishandled/mistreated by the Big4 and don't even know about minor things like that that are way "worse" and overlooked until there is a bigger scaldal like what happened to OmegaX, which is not an exception but what happens behind the scenes with a whole lot of small groups but no one knows because they are so "insignificant" to the people that only have eyes and time to the big names. Okay, let me stop ranting again or I can be here FOREVER, thing is that I'm around seeing groups come and go since 2004/2005, I've seen everything, the good, the bad, the ugly and the absolute disgusting things that this industry has to show. I'm almost "retired" because the newer/younger fans kind of take the worst of me when it comes to comments and their sensitiveness to the truths of life and how the world works (which most of the times does not revolve around their bellybutons and their taste and favorites) and mostly important, I just refuse to support most of the "big" agencies names that are the popular ones and keep myself mostly supporting smaller "nugu" groups which is PAINFUL because they usually just disappear/silently disband after a while but they need love. They desperately need love to keep going through the hardships they go to follow their dreams more than the bigger names do and people don't realize that. Their music may not be the most elaborate/produced stuff out there but they put all their soul and hopes into them and I cherish that, they deserve to have at least a bit of love for the few time they are able to be on stage. Aish, I'm ranting again. Well, sorry again.
