After watching this video I found it extremely interesting how you have fine tuned techniques that most would think are primarily baitcasting techniques to spinning. I love coming to your channel and seeing a completely different perspective on how we can fish. Sometimes we get so set into what the majority tells us is “right” but as you proved, there are many multiple ways to catch the same fish! Really enjoy your content keep up the great work!

Do you have any recommendations for a good spinning combo because right now I’m using a old ugly stick I need a new one but can’t decide on a good one to throw it all spinners jigs and all that good stuff

If you don't mind spending a little extra money, you should purchase 13 Fishing Omen Black 3. It's on sale for $100-$110. Also the 13 Fishing Kalon is also on sale for $60-$65. The Kalon A is my favorite. My Ugly Stik combos cost me about $100, so for $50 more you will step up to a much lighter and more sensitive combo that will be as durable as the Ugly Stik. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

I think you would like the Twin Power. It would pair well with some of your longer rods. It's powerful and butter smooth. Great value in the JDM marketplace. Enjoyed the video.

Thank you for your informative videos. You’re the reason I bought a zodias last year. I am looking hard at the Expride B medium heavy in spinning. The problem I’m running into is that the lipless crank baits that I throw are 7/8 of a ounce ( I fish for pike and walleye in Canada). In order to get into the weight range of the lipless lures, I would need to get a Expride B medium heavy in a casting rod (like you, I prefer spinning reels). Do you think the Expride B spinning will be too overpowered by that heavy of a lure like my zodias is? I have looked at the Daiwa Rebellion heavy, spinning rod, but I really want the monocoque handle. Thank you in advance for your opinion in the matter. God Bless.
@familybudgetfisherman

Thank you for your comment and question. I definitely appreciate the fact that this channel has influence your decision making. I hope it is for the best, lol. If you want to throw 7/8 ounce lures, the Daiwa rebellion may be a better choice. An even better alternative to the Expride be is the Phenix Feather Heavy spinning. It’s rated to 1 3/4 ounce. I produced a video on it. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

Noticed none of your models have exposed threads on the reel handle a must for me! And know your a young 52yr old! Still thinking of the 7’ Light Zodias for really light Rapala’s not sure it has a soft enough tip to load the rod?!?! Thanks again yep and noticed the merch, you’ll have a couple less coffee mugs! Thanks again!

What a lineup, that is amazing ! My own lineup is much more limited since I almost exclusively fish from a kayak (do own a boat, I just prefer the kayak) : 6'10'' ML Expride B spinning 2piece (trout fishing with reaction bait, ned , shaky head) 7'0'' M Zodias Pack 5piece (yes a 5 piece rod, this one is always in my car, out of sight, just in case I drive by something I wanna fish, I usually use this for deadsticking for trout, tube, worms and senkos and light skirtless jigs) 7'2'' MH Expride B spinning 2piece (crankbait, spinnerbait, in-line spinner, jerkbait, paddletail, chatterbait, spoons, topwater for which I just add a mono leader after my fluoro leader which is a wierd setup but it does work) These are all very new rods and I couldn't find anything better quality than Expride that came in multipiece rods (this is a french canadian thing, everyone use multipiece rods). Looking into adding a heavier lure rod for swimbaits and co for pike next. If you had to limit yourself to a few rods (let's say 3 just because that's the amount of rods I carry with me), how would you go about setting up your rods and which one would you use for what ?
@familybudgetfisherman
@familybudgetfisherman Жыл бұрын
You have a fantastic for taking advantage of even driving by a fishing opportunity! LOL. I had no idea that a multi piece rod was such a big deal in any country of the world outside of being used for traveling. As you know, the one piece is king here in the U.S. I would chose my St. Croix Legend Extreme to throw crappie baits and light bass weights up to 3/16 oz. For power finesse applications, such as tubes, spy baits, and a 6 inch worm on a 3/16oz Darterhead or Ballhead jig hook, I would use my G. Loomis NRX+. For Power reaction baits such as crank baits, bladed jigs, and bass jigs (up to 5/8 oz) I would use my Shimano Poison Adrena. I believe these 3 rods would give me the best opportunity to dial in a pattern and catch the most fish and any body of water. Thank You So Very Much for such a great question! 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

Impressive Mali….the only combo that‘s missing is a big bait combo :). How would you rate the St. Croix Legend Extreme regarding balance, sensitivity and weight in comparison to the nrx+ or the Poison Adrena? This Legend Extreme triggers my addiction really hard and I‘m barely able to resist. I would use it for bottom contact techniques from a quarter to one ounce. Would be nice to get a sophisticated opinion directly from you. Have a nice weekend and greetings. Edit: with regard to upgrading some reels you should also take either the Shimano Vanquish (extremely light weight due to itös magnesium body/rotor) or the DAIWA Certate into your considerations. The Stella is top notch (I have four of the older generations) but meanwhile quite expensive. The Exsence, Vanquish or Certates are really close to a Stella and less expensive.
@familybudgetfisherman
@familybudgetfisherman Жыл бұрын
The St. Croix Legend Extreme and the G. Loomis NRX+ are better rods than the Shimano Poison Adrena for specific techniques. However the Poison Adrena is a better at employing the widest selection of techniques. It's a more universal rod. My 7’6” Med Fast Legend Extreme is Heaviest at 4.4 ounces. My 7’6” Med Fast NRX+ is lightest at 3.2 ounces. My 6’11” Med Hvy Fast Poison Adrena is in the middle at 3.7 ounces. I prefer the Legend Extreme to the NRX+ for bottom contact applications. The Legend Extreme is noticeably more responsive than the NRX+. I may just do a comparison video to demonstrate the differences. I do plan to upgrade the reels to a Stella for the NRX+ and the Exist for the Legend Extreme. I can get the both reels for the price of 2 Certate LT's. Hopefully I will have them by April 3rd. Thank You So Very Much! 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

@@familybudgetfisherman Great, thanks for the information Mali. I think I‘ll give it a try latest at Black Friday 2023. With regard to balance I assume there is nothing to complain concerning the Legend Extreme? Which reel have you paired with this rod?
@familybudgetfisherman
@familybudgetfisherman Жыл бұрын
I am soo sorry I missed this reply! I originally paired the Legend Extreme with a Shimano Vanford since I couldn't find a good deal on either the Daiwa Exist or the Shimano Stella. However I just recorded a video that includes a reel update to the Legend Extreme. That video is scheduled to post this coming Thursday. I would really love to read your reply to that video. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

It would be nice if rods could be ferruled so we could swap out whatever handle we would want. For those who want a cork handle could get one and for those who want a foam or rubber handle could connect that choice to the main blank. Thanks for the comment.👏🏿👏🏿🎣

Not yet! But help me...Should I get the Daiwa Steez OR the Megabass Windbuster? 👏🏿👏🏿🎣
@makcatchem9614
@makcatchem9614 Жыл бұрын
@@familybudgetfisherman it's all personal opinion between those two rods. Both are great sticks. But The real difference is the reel seat/grip and rear handle length. The wind buster is a much more compact and smaller in the hands rear end and grip. The Steez has much more purchase on the grip and a longer butt handle length. Also the wind buster bends deeper into the blank but doesn't sacrifice power. The Steez is a bit more rigid through the midsection with your tip being left to the parabolic bend. IMO the mega bass is a bit more versatile because of that. But not to take anything away from the Steez because it can still perform very well with most applications, I just feel that it is built as a platform for a bit larger hands
