Great informative sharing, thanks! Quick question - If my subsequent 2nd (2nd floor) and 3rd nodes (3rd floor) are wired using cat 5e cables, will this limit my 10Gbps speed to only 1Gbps? Should I just ditch my ethernet and use the Wifi 7 for the whole house instead? Or should i consider upgrading my cat 5e cable to cat 6 (which may be costly and involve reno work). Thanks!

GOOD MESH WIFI. Great speed review. I have BE85 and been using it close to 1 mth on viewqwest 10GB plan. I'm still waiting for the SFP+ module so that I can bypass the modem and have 1 less device in my DB. Been getting between 6 to 8 GBps down and up thus far. The unit are HOT! So I bought 120mm fan and let the deco sit on top of it.
@AlexTeo3 ай бұрын

@TSPhotoAtlanta2 ай бұрын
Interesting that you actually the piece on a fan. I have a number of fans from old computer builds, from 45mm to 140mm and most in quite good shape, so I guess I could handle that bit easily. I don’t like having to put heat in the house and then have to remove it through cooling especially in summer. It’s paying for the power use twice, essentially. I do want those Wi-Fi 7 speeds though, so I guess a sacrifice will be due. Right now the highest speed fiber plans in my area are 5 gigabit per second, and they more than triple the price of a gigabit plan. Since I’m not running any Internet servers and my gaming needs are relatively small. I probably won’t upgrade the plan at this time. The main benefit for me of upgrading Wi-Fi would be reliability: my office computer is ~85’ from the modem/router also passing through 4 walls and a floor, so either upgrading to a mesh system or possibly putting ethernet to an old WiFi 6 router in AP mode (~55W) will work for now. WiFi 7 may have to wait, hopefully before the advent of WiFi 8! Paying to future-proof technology before you can actually implement it, as in at my house, can just be an expensive process without the best result.

I think a raw throughput comparison would be really helpful for some people who have servers in their home. Nonetheless great work!
