Truly wish you would list in the description the same order of fragrance that you review. It would make it easier for me to follow and to go directly to watch certain fragrances that I’m truly interested in. Truly enjoy watching your reviews. You are very often spot on in my opinion. Great job !

Never thought of Hacivat as a Chypre till now. Bought a full bottle yesterday after sampling. It really is something else. A grown up Aventus with great performance. So good. Thanks Sebastian for your reviews and lists.

One of my favorite styles. The ones I own from the featured fragrances and the ones mentioned are Fate Women which I absolutely adore. Furthermore Chypre Extraordinaire, Mitsouko, Vengeance Extrême. On my list to acquire are Diaghilev and Chypre Palatin.

Sebastian, sorry for the late comment, but I have to tell you that since you made this video, I discovered Rouge Perfumery and Meleg Perfumes. Anyone who doesn’t care about IFRA compliance should get samples from both of these Indie houses. Manny and Matthew are artists and the work is truly wonderful. I found Rouge because I saw Mouse Illuminee recommended just before Easter. After ordering Manny’s sample, I found that I like Chypre Siam the best. I only discovered Meleg a few weeks ago. I’m working my way through the sample pack I ordered. No. 50 “Civet Cat Chypre”, which you mentioned in this video, has real Oakmoss absolute and Civet musk, which is ethically harvested. If you don’t mind smelling a little “dirty”, as Matthew says, you gotta try this. He also makes, Peach and Oak Moss Chypre No. 7: Madeline. I think it’s a tribute to Matthew’s mother. He describes it as a true classic and very close to the original formula. This is his salute to the 1920’s Chypre perfumes, and it contains musk keystones, which he explains on his site. Matthew says that both contain 80% natural materials. Both of these artists sell on Etsy and are very gifted. I can’t say enough about them.

Hi Sebastian, I have a question for you and may be Dana :) . I have been using oak moss absolute and co2 extract for years in my homemade perfume blends. Since I do not care for IFRA, I use as much, as I want to. The biggest problem comes with its dark color. Oak moss leaves stains on my skin for weeks. Have you noticed that non IFRA oak moss fragrances, tend to leave stains on clothes or skin?

Any chypres similar to ATH Legend 2023? The citrus top and oakmoss base is amazing. Has a slight metallic/talc cleaness if anyone has a recommendation. Did smell Aventus at their boutique and it did not blow me away. Perhaps a few good sprays on skin will change my mind

Great video. Do you consider malle's POAL a chypre?
@ThePerfumeGuy4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't consider it a Chypre as I think it's more of an Oriental Woody but I could see it falling into that category. But since it doesn't have any of the three main notes to create that accord it's not as it's missing Bergamot, Labdanum and Oakmoss.
@carlgranados71064 жыл бұрын
I don't get it with Aventus. Doesn't do it for me. I like the much cheaper Aventus inspired Mont Blanc Explorer and I adore Mancera Cedrrat Boise which some say is a clone but smells totally different to my nose.
@EanPaul2004 жыл бұрын
Im not sure why this category fascinates me so much. That oak moss, laudanum, citrus mix is so strange. I have chypre extraordinaire and Diaghilev from Roja and both are awesome but still so strange. The Rouge perfumery chypre seems the most classic and true to me. Again strange but keeps pulling me in.

hello friend, could you talk about tom ford ombre leather, I see a lot of negative feedback about longevity and projections, 1-2 hour longevity, skinscent(2019 batch code), and 8-9h. longevity by 2018 batch code. for 1 year reformulated fragrance((( can you tell your batch code

I sampled Olfactive Studio Chypre Shot thanks to your collaboration with this lovely brand, but to be honest I was disappointed. I got cantaloupe, floral elements and patchouli in the base. It's pretty simple, quite artificial and lightweight. I imagine it rather as one of the Jean-Claude Ellena's instead of Duchaufour's.
@joelm62764 жыл бұрын
Not to put a fine point, but the pronunciation is sheep-pre (for the word chypre). Not she-per. It is French, for Cyprus (the country).

I’d rank Diaghilev at the top of everything you listed. For me it’s one of the best Chypre’s ever. I was expecting more Roja dove fragrances on your list like Roja dove vetiver and Roja dove musk Oud. Either ways that’s a great list and I’m hoping to try some of the fragrances on the list.
