Any reputable vet will tell you don’t even give them a little bit. Why give your dog something that is toxic in larger amounts even if your opinion is that a tiny bit won’t hurt? There is plenty of research from reputable sources on the Internet that all agree: stay away from garlic and onions as well. Anyone can call themselves a vet in the comments so take that with a grain of salt. Do your own research and talk to your own veterinarian to be sure.

@@cityofoaks One study is not enough to counter widey agreed on previous findings. Yamamoto was trialling AGE (aged garlic extract), not fresh garlic. @@nelstar-b I agree that being careful is always prudent. However people having a conniption fit over a dog eating a relatively small amount of garlic is insanity. People forget that before Yamamoto's study garlic was routinely included in kibble. @@cityofoaks Well it appears you are right. It's not necessary though to take that sneery tone about 'the science' when almost every vet article online repeats the incorrect reading of one study. I did wonder, as I have used garlic as an animal remedy in the past and used to feed my cats leftovers which often had garlic in them. From the few (very few) articles I could find refuting this whole thing, it seems garlic is ok in small quantities; the problem lies with the rest of the allium family. The sulphides in onions are particulalry toxic.

Do some research before feeding your dogs random things please. Garlic is poisonous to dogs. One clove of garlic for dogs of that size 'probably' won't cause them problems. But it's irresponsible to feed it to them just to get some views on a video. Plus someone else might watch this and also think it's ok to feed to their dogs. But if they happen to have a small dog, or one that's just sensitive to garlic, they could be in serious trouble. I'd suggest you edit this video to remove the garlic.
