I don't carry it as a necker but the Bark River Bravo EDC is, in my opinion, one of the absolute quintessential "must own" knives. While I love every knife I own, most of them all have specific things they excel at and things they aren't great for. My big ass knives are killer around the camp or hard use yard work while my folders and smaller fixed blades are great for carving or food prep or edc and sometimes a knife can overlap into 2 categories. The Bravo EDC on the other hand excels in almost every category except super hard use. I can edc this thing very easily and use it for office tasks, home tasks, kitchen tasks, general edc tasks, yet I can confidently head out for a weekend hiking trip with it and not feel like I need a bigger knife. When I am really honest about what I actually NEED out of a knife, the Bravo EDC literally covers all categories. It carves like a dream, splits wrist sized sticks for a camp stove, preps food quite well, excels at general edc tasks, carries easily around the neck, on the hip, in a pack or in the pocket, it is exceptionally comfortable to use in every grip, would likely be a good game knife, and is durable as hell. If I had to choose just 10 or so knives while all others would cease to be made, the Bravo EDC would make the cut.

I EDC a CRKT 2387. I bought it from LOWES on a whim and love it. It got me hooked on neck knives and I have purchased 3 or 4 more but always go back to the CRKT. I just got a Schrade SCHF60 today (no idea how it got into my Amazon cart) and it may replace the CRKT. Great video by the way.

I started with an ESEE Izula and now carry the CRKT Minimalist Bowie. Usually when I'm hiking in case I fall and get my pack snagged I can hopefully cut myself loose. When I'm in a sketchy area I have a double edged dagger neckker from RUKO that is defensive only and wore under my shirt in those places. Where I live I can wear any of my gear pretty much anyplace!

I was so glad to hear you say that you don't think 1095 is the bees knees any longer. Nothing wrong w it, of course, if it's HT'd properly (I'm legally required to say that), it's a fine knife steel....but much better steels exist with which to make all sorts of knives, so it's cool to see that you've evolved on this. & I'm not a steel snob (I am), I'm just saying that several of the CPM steels, 52100, etc., are noticeably all around "better" performers in real world knife applications. Now, if you'll excuse me, I do need to locate a ladder to assist in getting down off of this high horse. Thanks for another great vid Chris!

I use several different neck knives for different reasons, but some that I like are the Mini-Tac Skinner & Kiridashi from Cold Steel as well as their Best Pal 2.5" push dagger. (I also have a Mini-Tac Tanto, but it's a bit too heavy for my taste.) The first two work well for both self defense and utility while the push dagger is pretty much for defense only. You can use it for opening boxes, but it's mostly for unzipping bad guys. Those knives are all pretty affordable. I also have a Bark River Ultra-light Bushcrafter with blue & gold elder burl scales and mosaic pins that I like a lot. That one is not affordable, but it sure is pretty! Moras also make pretty decent neck knives when you're in the field. When I'm in the field I almost always have a neck knife of some description. I generally carry a large fixed blade on my belt -- my 'survival knife' for lack of a better term -- and I keep a smaller carving or bushcraft knife around my neck. Those two, along with my Leatherman Surge, my Victorinox Swisschamp and often a 'tactical folder' of some type (love my Kershaw Blur) make up my outdoor knife system, emphasis on 'system'. They all work together, and they each have their own jobs to do. I am not a 'one tool option' guy!

So this video ends at 6:50 where we finish about the Bark River that is the best knife :) Seriously - I like this channel and keep up the great work! Not for nothing but the best thing about this channel that I liked so far and that doesn't get enough credit IMO is your commitment to keeping (and getting into) decent physical shape. IMO that is the most important prep before you get into all the 'tools' that are important and that is overlooked by most. Maybe you can do some videos focusing more on stamina, strength, etc. Many will falter on physical conditioning or mental stamina in a dire situation despite spending money on buying prepper gear or lots of EDC kit.

I'm just looking for a last ditch knife. Not planning on bush crafting or anything. May get used on occasion. Was liking the Gerber Ghost Strike Or the Bear Grylis para knife. I fell in love with the Esee Candiru on this vid. Just what I'm looking for. If not tor the price. And do I see right the sheath is extra? Just wondering what you thought about the Gerbers or if can suggest similiar knives for as cheap or cheaper?

William Gale...from personal experience, the Bear Grylls line of stuff is, well, overhyped crap. I had one I won in a auction when I lived in Alaska and the handle broke after a couple of months of use...not even hard use, just camp chores...went immediately back to my original Cold Steel products.
