I personally dont think i would pick up these new ones. I eventually will pick up maybr a 15 or 16. But at 232K miles still running strong. Saw my same truck the other day with 391K.

Love hearing people who got 16-18mpg out of the 5.7. No doubt amazing trucks, one of the best engines ever. I drove one for many many years. I did change to 275/65/20 all terrains but nothing else, and never ever saw 16-18mpg. On average over 200k miles my truck was around 12.5- 13.5mpg. Never saw mileage that high. Most people putting down the new v6TT haven’t tried one. They tow circles around the 5.7. Anyone saying different has never used either truck for truck purposes. It’s Toyota, they will iron the kinks out of the new engine and it will be legendary just like the 5.7. I’m personally fine with the v6TT getting crappy mileage, it’s just that much better for towing than the old i-force

My ‘12 tundra gets 9mpg towing. Most trucks same. I trust Toyotas turbo 6 cyl over the ford ecoboost any day. Those motors have known problems. I looked into the new tundra I force hybrid but it gets only a small increase in mpg. Ford still has the 5.0L V8 and it pulls hard with the towing gear option. It has 205k miles on the clock; paid for, and as soon as the auto industry corrects I’ll be going truck shopping. As anyone does, I’ll be looking for something they gets better fuel mileage across the board. I may go by and look at Tundra’s just because of the extras available on them but will probably wind up in a 3/4 ton gas truck with the gearing for towing.

Huge Toyota fan, but average 10 mpg with our 07/08 Tundra with the 5.7 towing a 06 Z21 Ranger. One reason why we’re deciding to go diesel and not new tundra is cause there isn’t really a difference in tow mpg for that 70k price tag.

I appreciate the v8 diehards. I have both a 2003 4.7L v8 SR5 sport with 240,000 miles. I recently bought a 22 1794 Edition. Love it. For those that want a v8, eventually the v8s across all manufacturers will go away due to the EPA emissions continuing to tighten over the next few years. It’s not for fuel economy, simply tailpipe exhaust gas limits. For those that have v8s keep them. Their value will only increase over the next few years. Eventually, the next generation of buyers will never have driven a v8 or possibly even a v6, making it even easier for manufacturers to sell smaller displacement power train vehicles.

Hate to break it to new 2023 Tundra owners. But, turbo charged engines do NOT last for the same sort of extended mileage without service as a normally aspirated engine. Higher cylinder pressures and more power per unit volume means lower engine life. Only time will tell how long these drive trains will last under normal usage.

The 1794 trim is my favorite trim, but I still do not like how the new Tundra looks. I would prefer the previous gen anytime and/or if I have to buy a brand new truck, the GMC/Chevy 1500 twins with the 3.0L diesel engine - that is the best 1/2 ton truck(s) today (although RAM 1500 is an amazing truck as well.

Never used to be the case but the interior and ride of the Ram is untouchable. Wish they’d use an inline 6 diesel in their half ton. Otherwise that GM baby dmax is hard to beat.

@@cummins4408 The RAM 1500 is a very solid truck. If I am not wrong, it is currently the most reliable 1/2 ton truck according to Consumer Report. All American trucks are really light years ahead than the Tundra, and since they all are not cheap, I still think that the GMC/Chevy 1500 with the 3.0L diesel is the best money wise too.

So Get the same MPG as 19 and 21 TRD PRO and 19 has been made into overland type vehicle. I test Drove a 22 TRD PRO. It felt so cheap and for money they want its insane. No way those are gonna last 400K miles. The Cummins turbo 6s dont even do that most of time and that is a much better engine. After I pay off 21... gonna get like a 2026 GMC 2500 AT4X. I really wanted to love the New Gen 3 Tundra BUT... That MPG is identical to my 5.7L!! WTH, Actually, I can do much better on the highway with the cruise control set and I tow a 25' Contender with twin 200 4-strokes! (6500+ loaded) ... Airbags for a little Bass boat? No V8 (or even a small V8), No Tow Hooks, No Steel Bed *Plastic Bed (Yes, "Composite" is a fancy term for plastic) No rear Bumper step... All the quality control complaints, wind noise, loose vents, rattling center armrest, window seals not sealing, failing Turbos, plastic base on driver's seats cracking, thin foam in driver's seat. *These complaints are well documented on KZbin videos (KERevs, Trigger Happy, 251 REELING, TRD Jon just to name a few). Those Turbos won't last as long as a naturally aspirated motor.. Finally, the ridiculous MSRP and dealer mark ups. I clearly understand there are some issues with a New Gen but this is ridiculous. Toyota has ruined the Tundra name. *Keeping my 2nd gen *Thanks for the review.

Do the following items bother you? Maybe I am more discriminating: 1) No decent truck box access solution (no in tailgate step assist) 2) 'Hump' in the center of the rear passenger floor. F150 and Ram are completely 'flat.' Flat floors allow for more stable storage of longer items without a teeter-totter rocking issue. 3) Poor Door/Window Seals - I read a LOT of complaints about wind noise squealing into the cockpit because of poorly designed weather stripping. 4) Lackluster fuel economy - Ford turbos provide much better mpg 5) Poor fit and finish and hardware - Read a lot about poor fit and finish..... cheap side seat plastic panels breaking, etc. 6) Ridiculous feature where the vehicle shuts off when you open the door after remotely starting it. I am not a 'hater'..... I did own a new Highlander Limited in 2014 and hated the fact that the vehicle would shut off when opening the door after a remote start - what a stupid thing to do. You don't remote start a vehicle with the thought of entering it and having to restart it)

I just came from an F-150 3.5l ecoboost to the new tundra, and the ford did not get any better mpg. The quality of the tundra is also much better than the ford. Mine is a 23', and I think Toyota has worked out the new-gen issues with rattles, etc. I also have a bed step, so no issues getting in an out. I couldn't care less about rear hump.
@user-le9be6es4t
@user-le9be6es4t Жыл бұрын
@@user-mh5qg5jb7d Most serious truck owners care about the things I listed..... also, rear seat legroom is not as big as its competitors.... and headroom in the rear seat is horrible. I am 5/11 1/2" tall, and my hair hits the rear headliner on the outboard sides...and, with a sunroof, I literally have to turn my head sideways and smashed against the headliner in the 'center' rear seat position. Combine that with your knees halfway up to your chest because of the dopey rear passenger floor hump, and it is one uncomfortable place to be. Do you like how the remote started vehicle shuts off when you open the door? WTH is with that? My Highlander did that and I hated it. That side bumper step is so funny.... looks like a complete afterthought.... did they buy that from Home Depot and bolt it on? Hard pass on this Tundra for me...and I HAVE owned a Toyota in the past....so, am certainly not 'anti-Toyota'..... or I would have never checked one out for fun. Just curious, how can you say the 'quality is much better on the Tundra than the Ford?' The tundra has lots of online complaints about window frame wind leaks, rattles all over the dash and door panels, and breaking cheap plastic seat side trim pieces... not to mention some mechanical issues when first released - not sure if those were adequately addressed or not, but, not sure that quality fit and finish is something that can be attributed to the new Tundra based upon many, many user reviews. But good luck with yours!

Your fuel mileage is no better or worst than the 5.7 V8. I would not buy one because of the V6 Turbo. I will just keep my old Tundra with the V8. That V6 turbo will not last 400,000 miles as the 5.7 V8 do. You will have trouble and spend big money on those turbos after the 100,000 mile mark. Turbo V6 not for me.
