your videos (including the original sgt. pepper's collection video) were one of the reasons i started my channel! seeing this update on the release day of now and then is a weird full circle moment for me. 64 copies of anything is bonkers, i could only hope to be this level of off the hinges one day edit: congrats on the album! will be buying mine tomorrow for bandcamp friday

4:08 Is that a Factory Sample sticker on the record label?
@doncolevinyl572 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, no, it is just a sticker with the former owner's name on it

There's a Taiwanese pressing of this on the Liming label, and it has some horrible misspellings on it, including the title on the front cover entitled Sgt. Peppeb's Loney Hearps Club Band. "A Day in the Life" on the label is spelled "A Dan in the Life".
@doncolevinyl572 Жыл бұрын
Haha yes, I have been trying to find that pressing for a long while! That is definitely the next pressing that I want the most.

I have a Yugoslav Mono pressing, that has a couple skips in the beginning of both sides. No inner groove, in case you're wondering. I'm thinking of purchasing a Mono Canadian pressing, that will hopefully sound better. Also are you aware of the 1970 reissue from Singapore that has the censored tracklisting? It replaces the songs that have references to drugs with random tracks off of the Magical Mystery Tour album.

Ooh that is pretty cool! I don't believe the OG Canadian pressings sound very good, just like the US pressings, so I would recommend UK, German, or Japanese copies, although they are generally more expensive. Nope, I have not heard of that pressing. That definitely seems like a pressing I should look into buying!

@@doncolevinyl572 Okay, thanks for the suggestion, I'll look elsewhere for a Mono pressing then. Also that Singaporean pressing isn't cheap, especially if you're looking at a VG+ copy.

I bought the Beatles mono red box lp collection in 1982 primarily to get the British mono version o' Sgt. Peppers. To my dismay side 2 was stereo! I wrote to EMI in England explainin' the situation 'n got this reply. I was told that the limited edition was sold out but the person sent me his personal copy from his box set 'n said I could keep my original mono/stereo copy! Me thinks I have a collector's item...!

Forgot to ask Don, wondering how many of these pressings include our don't include the locked groove runout track? Also you need to get a pressing from Australia, I'll feel represented 😉
@doncolevinyl572 Жыл бұрын
Hmm, I forget exactly which copies have the locked groove or not since most of these copies I haven't listened to for a while. I know none of the US copies have the locked groove, and I think that most of the later foreign pressings don't have it as well. But I believe that most of my OG foreign pressings have it like the UK, Japanese and German copies. And I would love an OG copy from Australia! But I just haven't had a good opportunity yet to buy one for a good price.

Checked out your music, cool stuff man! Played the first one for a bit, totally a jam. Although, I think the cover should've been something simpler, like a solid color and the text, because the font is too cool to not accentuate it.
@doncolevinyl572 Жыл бұрын
Thanks, I appreciate you checking it out! And I can understand that, but I've always preferred album covers that have a bit more going on, like the Sgt. Pepper's cover! But you may like the label design, since I used the album cover text on a bit more plain of a background on both sides.

WOW! Incredible! Where does the Jiles Martin Mix of Sgt Pepper rank in your collection? I liked it a lot 😊! Great finds!
@doncolevinyl572 Жыл бұрын
I actually really like it! If I'm going to spin one of my copies, I will usually play either my anniversary edition or an original UK mono copy. If I'm listening to the album in the car, I will always play the anniversary edition.
