I am a long time Harley guy. I have had six and currently ride an Electra Glide. I love it BUT I just picked up, a week ago, a slightly used GoldWing GL1800 with 26k miles (not quite broken in for a GoldWing)….and man-o-man is the GW a sweet bike!….. I’m looking forward to taking her out on some nice, long road trips shortly

I was shopping for a venture possibly. But after seeing this video, I’m going to consider the Gold wing ... this is my favorite KZbin motorcycle video . I could actually sense how effortlessly and smoothly that Goldwing operated on the highway.... That was one fantastic motorcycle shop, I’ve worked in five of them, and that one is the biggest I have seen.. as far as nobody greeting you when you went into the shop. I sold motorcycles for 17 years. I always waited till a looker zeroed in on one machine. I always let them get comfortable before approaching them. I hate when a salesman approaches me as I walk in, and the door hasn’t even closed behind me yet..They always give me the impression that they are starving or desperate when they do that. I wish you would make or publish a complete video of the entire trip.It’s better than 99 percent of those shows the networks put on television I was concerned with you leaving at 3:30 in the morning in early summer. I have impacted 4 deer.. two of them while I was riding my motorcycles. One at 70 miles an hour.I was riding my BMW K 1200 LT. $5500 damage. It wrapped around the faring just above the front wheel. I didn’t go down either time, but I do not ride at night anymore.. I drove from Pittsburgh to Fairmont West Virginia one year in the fall. There were 47 deer carcasses on interstate 79 There are more deer in the United States now than there were when Columbus landed.. native Americans and natural predators kept their population in check. Deer alarm whistles do not work. I had them on one of my motorcycles when a mailman that delivered packages and mail between post offices saw them on my machine while I was at the post office one day. He told me they don’t work, he has had them on his mail trucks for years, tried every style, he has impacted 16 deer on his daily route between Pittsburgh and State College.. Love the video.. I felt like I was riding the bike..

YES THE GOLDWING IS A PHENOMENAL BIKE. THE BEST OF THE TOURING BIKES, LOTS OF POWER , VERY SMOOTH AND SUPER COMFORTABLE. AS FOR LEAVING AT 4:00 AM I WANTED TO DO MOST OF THE RIDING DURING THE DAY. I HAD ABOUT 2 HOURS OF NIGHT RIDING SO I WAS TRYING TO BE EXTRA CAREFUL RIDING AT NIGHT. BUT I DONT DO THIS ONLY IN EXTREME CONDITIONS BUT DO NOT MAKE A HABIT OF NIGHT RIDING ON INTERSTATES. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR NEW BIKE PURCHASE. AND I HOPE YOU GET A WING (LOL) YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. THANKS FOR WATCHING PEACE.

BTW: It was a pretty nice Dealership You stopped at there.. Looked like they pretty much have at least one model, of all Honda Bikes that was out and possible to buy at that point... Very good selection... Even in Trikes.. Even though I personally would take the BUS, instead of ever being caught out in the open riding on a Trike.. Or a Sidecar.. THAT's NEVER EVER GONNA HAPPEN AT ALL... I would even BET my Mom on that..
@raymondmaple22306 жыл бұрын
Tusj WELL IM NOT A FAN OF TRIKES BUT THEY DO HAVE A PURPOSE GOR PEOPLE THAT CAN'T HOLD THE WEIGHT UP LIKE A GOLDWING. I MAY TRIKE MY WING IF I CANT HOLD IT UP. ILL THINK ABOUT THAT WHEN THAT TIME COME THANKS
@TusjMan6 жыл бұрын
Well.. I totally AGREE with You on that.. And I get that it is People that can only come close to Biking by using a Trike or a Sidecar.. And for any of those reasons I totally Get it too.. And if Your Handicapped or have a Disability in some way, I'm totally behind You (them..) getting a Trike to go Biking and to be in a Biker Group or "Gang".. And I know of a Man that used to be a everyday Biker and used his Bike even to commute back and to work.. And to use his Bike in the morning like that and to make him go Laneswapping in to go between all the cars made him spare over 1,5 hours of standing in a Car Que each and every day... But suddenly he got some health Issue that made him totally loose all of his Feelings in his Nerves from the waist down.. So he couldn't walk and use his legs again.. And he was chained to a Wheelchair for the rest of his life.. But, the Guys in his old Biker gang still considered him a Part of the 'Old' Biker Group and "GANG" so they Bought and Built him a very Nice Bike with a Very Cool and a Comfortable Sidecar on it, with a very Good and Comfortable Seat in it.. And, they all would take turns on being his driver on the several trip they still would go on.. And, since he also needed to have a Caretaker with him too... They all always contributed and saved up Money for a extra nice and double room for him so he still could get the Care and Treatment he still needed in the night after they had been on/in a Club or in a Pub or whatever.. But they NEVER EVER left him behind anywhere.. But, after a while.. It just didn't feel the same for him or them that he could never drive on his own.. And after all, since many of the Men in the "Gang/Group" also was Great and very Good Bike Mechanics and Builders.. And since he still could drive a Car that was Customized to use Hand throttles and brakes almost like a bike.. They also managed to Build him a TRIKE out of an Old 2008 model Honda GoldWing and used the Back of a Car to Build a totally Custom Trike with 3 seats (2 for Passengers.. 1 for his Wife and 1 seat for a caretaker that he always needed and had to have with him almost 24/7..) And, it also had some very good storage under the seats, and with a little more Storage over the Engine Compartment, just like any real "Super Car" would have too... But, it could also Tow/Drag a little Customized Trailer behind it too, so they thought about it all, and made him TWO totally alike and small Trailers.. They looked completely the same, but one was much bigger (a bit Wider and Longer..But both had a Wheelchair Lift inside it..) than the other one, to be able to hold some more storage for 3 people to live comfortably on the road for a few weeks at a time, together with all the medical stuff he also needed.. But, they also made one that was a bit smaller than the one made for trips and Traveling, so that he could also Go and Use it on his own for small trips in the daytime without any Caretaker or anyone else at all.. just like he used a Car.. So that he could go out and be totally alone and still feel a bit of totally Freedom if that's what he wanted to do.. But he would also have room for a Caretaker, when ever that was needed too.. And with a 2,5 Flat 4 Turbocharged Subaru WRX Engine (stolen out of a Subaru crashed in a Rally..) And they Tuned and Tweaked it just enough, so that it still would feel a bit Sporty and nothing like a Family Subaru at all..(after all, it used to drive a Rally Car.. But the lowest and smallest, and most stock engines class that was allowed.. But it still had somewhere in the range of 250 to 300 hp (Horse Power..) in it.. So, he wouldn't slow anyone down, even though the Whole Trike with the different Trailers behind, was actually quite heavy with the Wheelchair Lift inside it, and with the Biggest Trailer Behind, it would probably weigh over half a Ton... But, with that WRX Engine it would also feel little like a Bike with all that Power you always have available with a simple "TWIST OF YOUR HAND"... And suddenly the Roads come RACING TOWARDS YOU.. OOOH.. Nothing can BEAT that RUSH of a feeling that gives You... Only Pure Power can Manage that.. And even if 250-300 hp against a weight of 500-600.kg. (is about 1100-1300 lbs..) STILL MANAGE TO MOVE QUITE FAST.. A Trike Will Never Feels like a Real Bike.. But, it's a close as You may get.. And his Trike is now Famous all over Bike Communities in the whole of Northern Europe and Scandinavia, and he have WON almost ALL and EVERY PRICE there is to win for his Custom Build Trike, He Won several times for Best Custom Paint Job, for Best Light features on a Bike or Trike or bike with a Sidecar, Best Engine Customized and Build, etc etc etc.. They have made him travel all across Europe and Go to Bike Shows and display and Show his Custom Trike.. And that HE and HIS "GANG/GROUP" also have an quite amazing story to go with the whole Trike Build, and why they decided to Build the Trike in the first place.. That Story KILLS all over and wherever they go, so they all have been invited to go on Morning Shows in Germany, Austria and in Scandinavia.. So I know how "IMPORTANT" a "TRIKE" can really be.. And I really think there is a Loads of Nice, Cool and Awesome Trikes out there.. I just said that they "Just isn't for ME"... And I hope that they won't ever Be either.. But, with my health Issues I have going on right now.. I'm actually looking closer to a Trike then I actually is for a Bike Right now... So, life is really all about IRONY... lol... (BTW: So Sorry for another "Very Long Answer"...)

May 20th was a good day for me to . I have a 2013 GOLDWING with all the bells & whistles, I Love It Man, And Ray I think Your GOLDWING is real nice.But the reason that MAY 20 2017 was a good day for me was because I have (had) Liver Cancer For the last 2 years and I was getting real bad, I was very sick with my Liver & my kidney's shutting down with 2 1/2 month's to live max.I was in the San Francisco Hospital wanting to die. I was in a lot of PAIN & very sick.The only thing that kept me going was my Faith in JESUS and my Wife and my 2 Girls and wanting to ride again, On May 20th the Dr came to my room at 4:35 AM and said that we have a Liver from a Male 37 years old, Died from a car wreck, With a very good Liver so, My youngest daughter (23) and I (58). Said yes we will take the Liver and the transplant started at 5:30 AM on May 20th.And now it's 12-21-2017 and I am doing great, THANK GOD and I started riding again on 10-19-2017. I Live about 180 miles north of San Fran in a small town of Red Bluff Ca, And come May 20th The Wife and I are going down to ATL to see a ARMY BUDDY of mine who rides a H.D. . Maybe we can hook up? Would love to shake your hand and see your GOLDWING AND TRAILER, We do not have one. Have to pay a Dr Bill ! .

What was your average speed and mpg pulling your wagon on this trip? Goldwings are really nice bikes, I had an '07 for a couple years and got bored with it however ... ended up with a Harley again. I'm waiting to see what they do to the '18s, then I just may be on a wing again, not sure. To me, it always seemed like they could use a 6th gear on the highway ... not really NEEDED, but would be nice.
@raymondmaple22307 жыл бұрын
Brian Zaborowski MY AVERAGE MPG WAS 37.5 AND MY AVERAGE SPEED WAS ABOUT 85 MPH FOR MOST OF THE TIME I SET THE CRUISE AT 85-95 AND LEAVE IT THERE TILL IT JUST ABOUT RUN OUT OF GAS FOR ME I WILL NOT BUY NOTHING BUT A WING FOR A TOURING BIKE ITS HARD FOR ANY OTHER TOURING BIKE TO COMPETE AT 118 HORSEPOWER AND 125 FT LBS OF TORQUE THERE'S NOT MUCH CAN DEAL WITH IT SMOOTHNESS RELIABLY AND COMFORT I HAVE SEEN WINGS WITH 450,OOO TO 500,00 THOUSAND PLUS MILES IT'S THE BIKE FOR ME THANKS FOR WATCHING
@brianzaborowski27247 жыл бұрын
Thanks and your caps are on. I think the most I ever could squeeze out of my '07 was around 41-43 mpg. If you think about it ... Honda is really the only good full-size touring bike left that is water-cooled and reliable. The BMW K1600 is nice, but read many problems with some of them and I hated the clunky slipper clutch in the '13 GTL that I rode. I'm thinking of trading my Ultra for either an Indian, new Venture or a wing again. Can't seem to make up my mind and not so sure I want another air-cooled bike.
@raymondmaple22307 жыл бұрын
Brian Zaborowski YEA THE NEW VENTURE IS A REALLY AWESOME BIKE SEEN IT AT AMERICADE WAITING TO SEE HOW IT STACK UP AGAINST THE WING THE K1600 IS NOT OFFICIALLY A TOURING BIKE ME I LOVE THE WING PLEASE DONT PAY ATTENTION TO ME WRITING WITH CAPS ON EVERY TEXT AND EMAILS I WRITE IS LIKE THIS IF IT'S NOT LIKE THIS IT'S NOT ME THANKS FOR THE RESPONCE BACK

Raymond Maple haha yes sir every bit! I wasn't as comfortable as you I'm sure, but it wasn't bad. I was riding my beloved Yamaha vmax. Definitely not a touring bike but it was alright. The worst part about it is the fuel tank isn't really big so you have to stop for fuel every 100 miles. Was a blast though. One of the best vacations I've ever did. I love the feeling you get when you get to your destination haha.

@@raymondmaple2230 how do you not get ticketed everywhere? An without hammer down, not get that kind of daily mileage? Thank! Example: car went by me like I was standing on I-5 North Seattle, about 4 minutes later I pass him stopped by State Trooper, standing along side his car! Making time is cancelled by stops whether fuel or cops!
