Back in 2007 my parents moved across the country and I had to pack up their old house that I grew up in. If that wasn't bad enough, my best friend's mom moved in afterward with her boyfriend, so the first time my buddy and I went up to visit, I literally couldn't speak for like two hours and just kind of wandered around in a trance until the overwhelming nostalgic feelings wore off.

Me too, although I'd have to wait an incredibly long time, because the school I went to from PrK3 to Grade 12 was brand new when I started and had always been getting new upgrades up until graduation. So it's still incredibly modern, and I can't see it being abandoned for several decades.

Mine 🙋‍♂️ too... Not exactly a school, but a university. Our classes were on the hilly part of the campus. During the duration of my studies, classes were gradually moved to newer buildings off the hills. Years later, the classrooms blocks in the hilly part was abandoned. Recently, those buildings are now demolished. Really sad to see that. All my memories, gone. Also, there's blocks of student dormitory which was already abandoned when I began studying there. Those blocks are haunted by a female ghost and djinns and are off limits to students. Now, these blocks are demolished too. University admin decided to return those demolished place back to nature (with some hiking trails for people exercising).

It's a Great thing you took your yearbook with you, because the next time you come to revisit the school, there is no telling how the school would look in the future! There is an abandoned middle school about 10 minutes from where I live and the school closed for good in 2004 for unknown reasons. Me and my friends went exploring there a few years back and for some reason the power and all the lights were still on. In the school, there were some backpacks, school supplies from students, old 90s computers, and various pictures just lying around. It was like a time capsule of the early 2000s and that will most likely always be forever frozen in that time. While it was cool and intriguing to explore, there was also this weird intense sadness that all of us felt while exploring there, and after we left the building me and my friends just started bawling our eyes out for literally no reason.

Asbestos is only dangerous if it is in spores (airborne), lead has to be ingested (probably in the pipes), and mercury is usually airborne. I would like to hope they cleaned out the mercury, but it’s doubtful.

Dude.... this.. thank you for this. I left WMS at the end of 8th grade in 2001... moved to Narragansett... so I never got the chance to go and visit the teachers or anything and then all of the sudden it closed down. My high school isn't even this large- But funny, half of my school was built a 14 years later. In 1928. The half was built when the school before still remained. But the main school at the time was burned down. There was an accident and the whole main school was reduced to rubble. After the incident the rest of my school was built. Then in 1960 there was a gym added to it. There have been multiple deaths at my school, of course those are just rumors or legends if you will. I'm a senior this year and me and my class will be the last graduating from the building. A new school is getting built near and once it's built my school will be destroyed. It's weird. And honestly a bit sad knowing what's here now, won't be in the next year. My school is also a fallout shelter. ((I seen those signs around in this school)) But also, your school reminds me of Outlast-

i mean there were a few classrooms with books and papers still out, and even writing still up on the boards. in my experience last day of class is usually either a mad dash to tear everything down or at least an excitable time to pack up your bag to go home. I’m sure the teachers who left drawings and projects up either thought they were going to come back after break for them or had to abandon them for some more urgent reason

Man you are just like me! I’m a 24 year old woman and I LOVE memories like you. And 6th grade to 8th grade were the best times of my life. I met my soulmate at that time too (even tho we are not together now). But i freaking LOVE to explore old places that I used to be at. My middle school is still there and it’s still used. I have fond memories of each of the schools I've been through, each for better or worse. Unfortunately, my old Elementary school was closed down (but luckily, not abandoned). I'd relish the opportunity to walk through and say hello to any of the teachers who've been there while I was growing up. Many of them don't use social media, but I hope they're all living wonderful lives, and if not, I hope those who are no longer here with us were able to live peacefully, knowing how many lives they've changed. Man, how simple, lucky, and wonderful of a childhood...
