My Accepted Art Portfolio (Pratt, SAIC, CCA) Portfolio tips + info!

Hey guys! A different video topic but I just wanted to share my art portfolio that I applied to my top art schools with. I wanted to share information and tips that I learned along the way.
I am still not that comfortable talking in front of the camera but I am working on it! So please excuse any rambling, I tried my best to edit for the most important information.
I am sharing two portfolios in this video. One I made in 2018 for portfolio day, it was very bad and I hope it teaches you guys what not to do. My second portfolio was the portfolio that I used to apply to my top choice art schools. Luckily, I was accepted to all three I applied to. That being said this fall 2020 I will be moving from Madison to NYC to attend Pratt institute as a photography freshman!
I will continue to edit the rest of the footage from my time in Korea and hopefully end that series soon! until then if you have any questions please comment or private message me and I will try my best to answer those questions!

Hello! Your portfolio is amazing and very inspirational. This is by far one of the most helpful videos I've come across for Pratt. I have one question, did you get a significant scholarship package? Also, what did you mean "accepted" at national portfolio day? Was it like reassurance or did they genuinely accept you as a student? I've never been to one and I'm not sure I'll be able to because of the pandemic currently happening. Thanks!

I didn't see your comment till now I am so sorry!! I got the presidential scholarship which was $88,000 spread out on all four years (22k/year) because of my portfolio. And they accepted my portfolio at NPD which means they will only look at my portfolio again for scholarship and only look at grades and essays for my applications. Considering it is an art school and your portfolio gets accepted this puts you ahead of others. It is not an official acceptance but like a gold star hahah

I’m currently in undergrad for a stem major but have been thinking of getting an mfa but I just wanted to comment that I’m glad you incorporate a lot of themes around sexism and sex work as that’s also activism I’m really interested in but often goes against the public opinion

Does Pratt require observational drawings?

It does not require it if you're not an illustration major but it mentions it can hurt you if you do not submit. This is as of 2019 application period it may be updated.

What can I do if I don't have a portfolio day? I'm currently a senior trying to make a portfolio but where I live portfolio day doesn't happen here. :(

There are a lot of online portfolios day too :) I suggest doing that or even emailing admissions and asking to set up a time
