Woohoo super glad to hear it's helpful!! Thanks Justin :) I'm sure yours looks great! I think it makes a lot of difference when you gain exposure into others' portfolio and learn from their mistakes - so you're doing awesome! Best of luck!!

Hello! This was such a helpful video as I am working towards creating my portfolio. Getting to know your explanation and the mental process behind each step was very informative. Thank you so much! Btw, if I can give a small suggestion, making the background music's volume a little lower might be better as it'll help in focusing on your voice more! Once again thank you for this video and for sharing your early portfolio work. Have a nice day ahead!

Hi, how’s you doing? Did you find a job? Im planning to create my portfolio too, was it helpful through your job seeking process?
@arulight8 ай бұрын
@@martayegger7947 Hello, yes! I think a couple of months after this comment I got a UXR internship. Now I'm in a different role. My portfolio was still a wip at that time, and honestly I haven't gotten back to it. What helped was presenting my existing work and experience differently, and these days every other interview process involves some assignment too, so they were able to see my work through that. This is specific to my experience as a sociology grad looking for UXR and market research roles. I'd make it clear upfront in the interview process that I don't have a portfolio, but other tangible examples of my work. I hope this helps, and all the best!

I just started a UX boot camp! You helped me decide whether I wanted to be researched and designer, and it’s been so hopefully setting what my expectations should be in finding a career.

Thank you so much, this was fantastic! P.S Another potential solution to the long-line/congestion issue: Offer discounts during off-peak hours. This could incentivize employees (“Aprons”) to visit at different times, and could decrease traffic in the checkout line.

Thank you for this video, it's super helpful! I'm curious to get your opinion on whether doing "fake" case study projects or volunteering UX services for a case study is better for the portfolio. Thanks!
@Tifffster9 ай бұрын
Sorry for the delayed response! That’s a tough question, because I wouldn’t advocate for “free work”, but I also think learning on the job in the real life environment is the best way to learn. So definitely real life work >>> fake projects, even if that means little to no compensations. If there’s a way you can volunteer to run a case study in an organization you’re acquainted with (school, old job, family friend business, etc), I think that’d be ideal! Hope that helps!

I'm so struggling right now to find a user research job anywhere. I only have about a year of experience, and have hit a dead end. I cant tell if it's my portfolio holding me back or what.

Great video, thanks for guiding me through my portfolio making process. It would have been easier if the background music was a little milder than your voice. I usually watch videos on 2x speed so background sound was really disturbing at times.

Hi, please what app did you use to decorate the pages? And how do you attach this case study to your portfolio?
@Tifffster4 ай бұрын
Hi! Decorate the slides? I actually used the powerpoint template at my work, because the case study was related to the work at my previous work, and then used Google Slides to update. Though, these days I love using Canva for creating slideshows - It’s free and super animated + intuitive. These I didn’t attach to my portfolio. I sent sharable link to hiring managers when they asked for sample work.

Did you pay for those User Interviews out of your own pocket?
@Tifffster2 жыл бұрын
Hi Felix! I did not - my research participants were employees at the headquarter, so I reached out to random folks at the company and spoke to my coworkers. :) If I may give some advice, I recommend trying out scrappy ways of recruitment before spending $. As long as you have a clear reasoning as to why you chose that group of folks to participate, you'll be good!
