New subbie! He’s a beautiful dog and thanks for sharing your journey.

Unless he is mostly mastiff, that might not be a good thing. It is true that American Akitas (hybrid Akitas) are mixed with random large European dogs, and supposedly Chows also, but the Akita DNA in him might not be able to support so much weight so early without causing hip dysplasia and other health issues. It is a good idea to watch the weight of large breed puppies in general because of potential bone and joint issues. Note, I use to have an "American Akita" who looked a lot like yours that was mixed with Chow and St. Bernard.

U should not give your Akita or any dog raw meat. He needs dry food with protein and other nutrients. The dog doesn't even want to eat it. That is messed up. I am on my 4th Akita. Yoshi gets dry food with fresh blueberries and cooked lamb, cooked chicken and cooked turkey. Too many dogs have died eating raw meat due to contamination. Yoshi 's meat is always cooked.

@@nishobap I am not reading any of it. Majority vets say it is bad for dogs to eat raw meat. If the meat is bad, they can get deathly sick. No, I simmer the lamb and or turkey for my dog. Good luck

Bro dogs have been eating raw meat for centuries dude. All that stuff in many dry dog foods is toxic and is what is making dogs sicker. Read what ingredients are toxic to dogs and then look at the back of your dogs food bag and if you see any of the bad ingredients listed then you yourself are hurting your dog. I've seen many dogs on raw and they were always healthy and have lived past their expected lifespan. These dog foods that say 'veterinarian recommend' have listed all of these bad ingredients that vets will personally tell you to stay away from. Vets will even advise against dogs eating fresh food because just like with everything else in the world. 'No dog food no money'

Hey man just curious because I'm in the process of getting an akita, what are his grooming requirements, how often do you brush him ? How much does he shed in normal times (not during coat blowing season)
@nishobap
@nishobap 2 жыл бұрын
At the moment, my Akita is going through his first real shedding. I brush him daily. It is slowing up now but that’s after like 3 weeks of nonstop hair clumps falling daily. Prior to now, I was brushing Brasi once a week. Hair constantly falls out and will be seen around the house here and there and flying around too.
@nishobap
@nishobap 2 жыл бұрын
On regular days it is not that much hair, but it is noticeable especially if you have a dark color carpet or no carpet at all. After our walk, I make it my business to brush Brasi everyday. Hope this helps and Good Luck! ✊🏾

Mine is 3 years old, sheds heavy twice a year blowing coat which can be a two hour brushing depending how long he will stand for however very much enjoying. Otherwise for 10 months of the year don't have to brush at all but maybe for fun once a week 1/2 hour. Loves baths, very good about.

Housebreak? Get yer ass outside, be careful big cats out there kill you, called mountain lions but at 130# he might just get smaller one. Cats know, he's big, they rather go smaller deer grab by leg no fight, deer don't fight, Akita will always.

Did the vet recommend feeding raw? Kinda wondering if i should have started mines on raw diet?
@nishobap
@nishobap Жыл бұрын
Just like conventional doctors would not prescribe herbs, conventional vet will almost never recommend raw diet for dogs. Maybe a Holistic Vet will (not sure). It is never too late to start Raw. I HIGHLY recommend first, reading “Give a Dog a Bone” by Dr. Ian Billinghurst, an Australian veterinary surgeon with 50 years of experience. This book explains all concerns, curiosities, doubts you may have about feeding your dog raw. Good Luck 👍🏾

Here's a little fact with mine, I'm 2nd rescue, 1st from shelter younger gal didn't have the proper space or could handle, about 14 or 15 months old at time. The point this gal says he has sensitive stomach only feed him $85 a bag science diet sensitive formula, dang every morning after eating he's tossing his stomach poor guy. I was low on cash at a point so go to ranch store and buy this $45 bag natural type hasn't really tossed stomach since, I don't give raw but do mix in whatever I've cooked for him, it's just the two of us so he looks forward to dinner happy guy, he gets 3 meals a day approximately 3.5-4 cups but I've also free fed him if I'm going to be gone all day which he won't eat all if he's full. So I feel conspiracy this science diet makes dogs sick and folks keep spending $85 on, like is there something in it that does this and people keep trying to figure out what's wrong? 😂

@@stevenutepass7671 yea my girl "bathsheba" is tummy sensitive to some meat proteins. Like boiled chicken. Gives her the bubblies. I feed victor high quality formula. 30 bucks for 15 lb bag. A few shreds of chicken and fresh jasmine rice goes in with her kibble. Also a beniful wet meal. Im actually having a hard time keeping her on schedule. Which is 12pm meal and 7pm meal. I wish i could give her more chicken cause she is crazy for it and trains well with it. She will be 20 months here. Blowing her coat all over my house.😩😒

@@carsondouglas8600 yikes blowing coat, good luck there. It's feet of snow here 9,000', my guy don't shed this time of year, cleans up well running in snow wet or buried in off snow shoe trail yard out back, actually cleans himself after well, licks himself like cat. Snow here required snowshoes for me to stomp trail for him. The bags food I get $45 are 40#, because live rural mountains get 2 at a time and store containers, like everything I buy bulk, 30 plus miles to even gas station if you can do in blizzard type weather days. Swear this is great dog for property, we are preppers, live off grid wood heat, some solar and working to better systems, he just loves it here. Sounds of you truly love your dog, shouldn't we all?! Best wishes

@@Junseld He is half Pure american aKita And half serbian rottweiler. He was supposed to be pure blood rot. But my friend's male American Akita had other plans. Actually chew through the metal building to get to the female. His dad the same dog actually killed a mountain lion. Now the serbian rottweiler they did breed in like the Caucasian mountain dog, Answer other large Mastiff breeds to make a larger rottweiler.. If you go to my page here on youtube you can see videos of Him. He's a gorgeous dog. Now he is a year and three months old in weighs a hundred and thirty eight pounds.. He's a big boy. A big old teddy bear until Someone Tries to touch Or hurt me. He seems the real eyes that i'm in a wheelchair in Missing my legs. He's really smart he knows Am different. Hey, Just pointing something out that occurred recently unrelated topic to Akita but thought I'd share. I follow Chicago news because from, still few friends there, it's ridiculous that city from government to many of the people or violence. Well I like your channel, seems as if your really into you dog and care, offer advice, etc pretty straight up man. Well tried contributing here for your channel not because im some nice guy angel, feel I have knowledge or experience helping others. Anyways I'm not nice when it comes to comments on Chicago, I am truthful, look at facts, see news media twisting so comment on those grounds careful. Some black man called me racist even when in comment stated I wasn't, this guy has now become so deragatory, abusing, even threaten me almost, clearly if I was racist white person ii would not be checking out your videos, just saying lesson for all any race, treat people equal. Idiot threaten me, live mountains rural on property with gate road, everyone has guns and me an Akita, silly guy have hard time doing anything, the law is called make my day which translates to 911 is too late, anyone threaten you on your property shoot them dead and just formal paperwork. It happens.

Socialize with other dogs, mine is rescue and very reactive to most other dogs. Other owners don't understand off leash mine on will kill yours fast, for safety out I muzzle mine. No other dog can really hurt him with me having on leash, he can kill fast. One situation was in mountain town for appointment office building letting mine out of car do his thing. Well guy has labradoolde type off leash out of building running across lot towards us, broke him off killing this dog, I ended up fractured T7 vert back saving this other dog, then I kicked owners ass and had cops come. Silly part it was therapist office for appointment, she called cops pulling into lot parking. Like I went for nice relax progress appointment therapist and turned into bloody dirty snow frozen lot crazy.
