You're such a funny guy, Nev! Finally got around to viewing your BookTube backlog. Loving it! In answering your question at the end of this one: I'm very curious about your Milly-Molly-Mandy (no-apologies accepted). Of course, The Dragon Reborn and The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown. Looking forward to seeing and hearing your thoughts on those. Back in the day when I still did written 'Reading Experiences', I wrote at the end of my Lost Symbol review: 'I sincerely hope that more from this skilled writer will see the light of day. For me it doesn't necessarily have to be a thriller. In fact, I would like to see this artist work without the straitjacket of the 'page turner'.' BTW, I gave this book 4 stars.

I’m of course looking forward to Wheel of Time (my personal GOAT series since high school), and would like to hear more about the Neal Stephenson because I read snow crash for a college course and liked it at age 18, but never went deeper into his works. A personal question. You’ve mentioned your daughter a few times, and it’s been on my mind after watching a Philip Chase interview his daughter about growing up reading. My daughter is about to turn 3. So most book involve Gerald and Piggy (brilliant, truly). But how do I introduce her to fantasy and science fiction and just love of reading? I worry modern technology just makes books less relavant to kids.

Great question Dan! I think the best thing I can recommend is to just keep reading to them. As my kids were growing up, I would read to them at bed time pretty much every night. You can see a picture of me reading to my kids when they were young here: stackoverflow.com/users/36510/nevster I think that was an Asterix or Tintin comic on a pre-iPad tablet! When they were young, we'd go to the library about once a week and get a stack of picture books. Reading to them continued up to their teens. So reading will always be associated as a special-time-with-dad kind of thing. (Note, I also played classic video games with them as well! Download mame and show them some classics like Pacman.) As to getting them into SFF, you can't go past Harry Potter, though you'll have to wait till they're older of course. And I also set up a plan of movies - eg when they turned 10 they could watch the first 3 Harry Potter movies and Ender's Game and The Princess Bride, etc.

@@NevsBookChannel Good call for Asterix, she was sorta, jokingly named for him! A childhood favorite of her mothers in French. I was thinking how my aunt showed me the animated hobbit when I was maybe 5 or 6

@@danmacarro wait, do you mean your daughter is named Asterix?
