Hey my favorite couple, here is some experience of mine, going back to India from USA for decades. Eat all hot food, do not eat salads uncooked of course unless you are in home. Dip salads into salted water for 20 minutes before chopping and add lime and lemon along with other ingredients. That acidity kills balance bacteria. Drink bottled water. And drink Coka Cola even if you don’t do that here. Coke has phosphoric acid and sugar that fights bacteria. The thing about bacteria is that our American guts are not used to tropical bacteria. See how animals in African jungles drink any water and do not get sick? Resistance within themselves for all local bacteria and viruses. And be prepared for shocks all types good and bad. Like family is the greatest thing there and rules are stretched like elastic and it is sooooooo diverse! There is so much to see and enjoy, one lifetime is not enough! 🙏
