Had one declined at Wal-mart in a small town in Canada, I was the cashier and in under a minute the couple had a call on their phone to verify the purchase, it worked on the 2nd attempt.

We were visiting Rodeo Dr and happened to walk in front of Peter's store. There was security at the door, and we didn't just want to walk in for the sake of walking in. We saw Peter through the door and we waved. He waved back and smiled at us. We thought that was really nice of him. He seems to be very down to earth despite all the bling.

I heard, sometimes rich peoples cards get declined, because even though they have the money they need to call the creditor to confirm the purchase. I can’t blame them for declining at first. When you’re spending like 15 or $25,000.

It’s the AMEX Centurion Card. If the purchase price is above a set threshold you need to speak with a Centurion rep or concierge over the phone for verification.

It will probably have triggered a fraud call. I get them from time to time on my lowly Amex gold card. Basically they ring you up to make sure it's you buying the thing that the transaction is for and then allow it to go through the next time. I assume all credit card companies do similar things.

All Amex cards still have a maximum value that can be charged without prior authorization, which depends on the individual cardholder and prior credit history.

American Express ( the basic card ) is one of the hardest to get from what I hear. My sister and her husband got turned down years ago and they have good paying jobs, excellent credit and never had any past financial issues. I couldn’t imagine what it takes to get the AMEX black card like Michael.

Some people don't get that a black amex literally has no limit. My mother had one and my younger self rarely had my card to the account in my possession. The difference being you pay the full balance off monthly. Also I hated becasue atleast in Alabama 10 years ago more places tended to not take it than would.

There’s no limit on a centurion card but they will put a hold on charges over a million till they speak to the client. It’s a charge account so you can charge anything on it but you have to be able to pay it off too. It’s not a credit card and there is no apr because you don’t carry a balance on it.

My friend's dad is super rich ... They have so much stuff they never even use ... Ever ... The only thing I ever get slightly jealous of is the trips they go on ... But even then - he has the same complaints as anyone. Not as big of a life change as you'd think.
