Because she's your "half" sister you only share 25% ("full" siblings share 50% of the DNA, ~25% from mom and ~25 from dad) :)

Thank you. I am African American and recently been researching which test to take to figure exactly where in Africa my lineage comes from. I enjoyed your video, the information is very helpful.

I love ancestry. I found out I was part Italian from my dad and he also is part french and Spanish. My mom has some black in her dna which is also cool. We were shocked by our results because our ancestors were pretty much the first settlers and white that lived in the West Virginia area. I now want to explore those African and Latino cultures because of it. ❤

You share 50% of your DNA with your full siblings.
@Bonzi_Buddy2 жыл бұрын
This is not true. On average the population shares 50% DNA with a sibling. But it can vary depending on which segments the siblings inherited in the DNA shuffle from their parents. Believe it or not, one can actually share more DNA with a half-sibling than a full sibling if one inherited more of the same segments of their shared parent and a biological sibling did not. 50% is not a fact. On average 50% is. One can be over 50%.

Can you see which side of the family your ethnicities come from?
@shakiramoreno_2 жыл бұрын
For me it is very vague, but the more members of your family that do it the more information you’ll have!!😊
@controlaltdelete34102 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can, with Ancestry DNA they made a new feature some months ago that you can see what you got from each side. It does not say mom-dad. just parent 1 and 2, but its easy to figure it out if you know little bit about their difference.

Everyone calls my uncle Mexican because he has darker skin than some of his siblings. But seriously, his father also had that skin tone. He was descended from parents who left Austria-Hungary so he is probably significantly Hungarian…. People with darker toned skin. Some people believe some silly stuff. A DNA test will figure that out!!!

Actually Hungarians originally were from Central Asia and were an integral part of the Huns for the Magyars

which kit is this one . 'Cause 3 different kits.
@ntl59832 жыл бұрын
Doesn't matter, they all give you your ethnicity percentages and DNA matches... which is what she talked about.
@controlaltdelete34102 жыл бұрын
There are plenty more than 3. It's in the title and at the beginning
@ntl59832 жыл бұрын
Ancestry has 2 kits... the simple one that gives you ethnicity and matches, and a more expensive one that also gives you "traits". If you're talking about DNA Test companies, there are 6 or7.. but only 4 are worth mentioning. Ancestry 23andMe MyHeritage FamilyTree DNA

You skipped some of the ethnicity results since there was Mali and a few more ethnicities that you cut off showing.
@controlaltdelete34102 жыл бұрын
I saw that she got to the 2% France and stopped. Maybe since the least 5 were only 1%. But they were interesting, Mali, Nigeria, Balkans and 2 more indigenous groups.
