You'll understand your ethnicity better if you build a family tree. Once you figure out where your grandparent and great-grandparents are from (or find the immigrant in each branch), look into the history and a map from that time period. People have been migrating and mingling all over Europe for centuries. Half my German ancestors lived in present-day Poland and Russia, but for 600 years it was a German region. If you link your tree to your DNA profile, Thrulines will activate, so if you and your 1st cousin have both linked your trees, you will see your grandparent as the common ancestor. It's not 100% accurate, but it can be helpful. Also if you mother does the test, she will get higher DNA matches and some you won't have, since she is a generation back. It's also a good way to help sort out which side of your family tree your matches come from. Ancesty attempts this, but a lot come back as unassigned.

Girl when you register your kit it shows where you can opt in or out of dna matching. It's not just your ethnicity, unless you want it that way.

@@katec8888 Yes, def!! Come to the Celtic festivals. They are so fun. Celebrating the heritage, learning new things, seeing everyone wear their kilts, the music and food is top notch. I've been going since 2022 but when I was younger I went to the parades in nearby D.C. The Transceltic website has a list o Celtic festivals in the U.S. I email updated the list and it took 11 hours. Hopefully they get back to me with the updates. Cheers!

I found your video through searching dna tests after of my own after taking a DNA test earlier this year through 23&Me.. I am French, African, Native American, and Asian. The indigenous tribe my ancestor(s) came from are Inuit, which is a very rare result considering how many thousands of miles away I am from my ancestor's homeland! Funnily enough, most sites are linking my DNA to people from South America and not those of modern day indigenous North Americans. Weird, right? The reason I took my DNA test in the first place is because I was adopted, ICWA didn't protect me in the early 2000s so I didn't end up with an indigenous family. We're all very different and even though we are different, we are all still people at the end of the day regardless of where our ancestors come from. Awesome video. :)

Really interesting results for an american especially (If youre american) Eastern European DNA (Slavic) is not common in americans, because they never really settled in america. 29%Scottish + 4%Irish makes you 33% celtic 24%german + 12% swedish + 2% norwegian makes you also 38% of germanic descend. --- 38% germanic 29% slavic 33% celtic

First, stop referring to the UNITED STATES by the continent America (or Americas plural for more than one America) Yes they did settle in the Americas north and south…. Just more so after the Second World War. Argentina, Brazil, USA, Canada - all within the Americas aka the new world

I have similar DNA to hers, but my family was New York Dutch and Pennsylvania Deutch. I have 20% Balkan DNA. On some tests it's list a Baltic/Slavic. Likely from my East German ancestors who lived in what used to be Prussia or Poland.

You have a Donegal Genetic Community so that is more likely to be correct so some of your Scottish could actually be Irish. With an update your Irish and Scottish results might change a bit.
