The spanish ruled southern italy for centuries. A lot of the "spanish" immigrants to South America were actually Aragonese/Neopolitans/sicilians who were ruled by the Bourbons too..

Spaniards of today are a mixture of Mycenaean Greek, Ionian Greeks, Goths, Latins (which are mix of Ancient Greeks, Torjan Greeks and others) and Indigenous Iberian peoples. (beautiful people) Even the Greeks today are a mixture of different Greek peoples. The King of Spain faught Rome in the end, but people did not mix as what historians try to write.... DNA results are very factual and point to the most reliable evidence of people settling there to live and married each other out of loving companionship.

But where are you from in Colombia? As you know people from Barranquilla will have higher Italian/Middle Eastern heritage, people from the Pacific coast will have higher West African heritage and people from Bogota will even have substantial British-Irish heritage. So Colombia is not one monolithic group but highly dependant on city and regions. I'm curious to know what cities your parents are from? Thanks for sharing.

Its not actually that well known but people are just beginning to rediscover this. A lot is due to the over 7,000+ British & Irish legion that fought in that region for Colombian independence. Several legitimate and illegitimate children were had by these men during and post the independence campaign but unlike in other countries many of these Anglo/Celtic descendants are from the lower or regular classes. Britain never officially recognised the legion classing them as mercenaries and most of the upper classes have more Spanish heritage so not a lot of fanfare has been made about this heritage despite having a substantial imprint on the people of the Cundi-Boyacense Andean Plateau and to a lesser extent other regions of Colombia.

Ancestry is inaccurate with Southern European DNA. They get them all mixed up. You're most likely more Iberian then actual Italian or Greek.

Sure. They give you a wide range. I am from 0 to 22 % Iberian so they finally showed me 11 % of Iberian. Not accurate. Maybe I have more than 11%.

That's because of Roman Empires mate. Western Roman spoke Latin and Eastern Roman spoke Greek. Before Rome there was the Hellenic (Greek) empire which covered Italy. Basically southern Italians have a high Greek percentage and very likely they moved towards the west Iberia so south of Europe is pretty much the same people with different % of specific regions. There's Greek DNA from Iberia to India.

Ur phenotype is Italian/ middle eastern.. Study the history of Spain before they conquered the Americas.. They were taken over by many nations like the British, the romance, and later on the Arabs. That is why a lot of us have all of those mixes in us. I am only 11% Italian and 4% Middle Eastern yet everyone my whole life have confuse me for a Italian or Arab. It’s just that my phenotype it’s like yours Italian/ arab

Bri Alvarez : Not the British, but the Celts! Celts were an ancient tribe that settled in Spain and part of Portugal and mixed with the Iberians . That pre-roman community, was called the celtiberians. Which is the main genetics "baggage" spaniards are made of. And not the Arabs, but the Moors. Spaniards have no Middle Eastern blood. Some of them may have small % of North-African, but def not Middle Eastern. Of course there might be exceptions, but indeed it's very rare. If you have Middle Eastern genes it might be due to migrations from Lebanon or so, but not from Spain.

There appears to be a lot of confused people on KZbin. Probably World-Wide. Later on as other peoples migrated from Viking areas (North of Swiss Alpes), Roman province (Latin peoples, which are also a mix of Mycenaean, Ionian Greeks and other indigenous Latin Roman people) is what made the authentic Spanish people as Spaniards today. (Catalonian, Latins Lyrians, etc.) Basically if you are anywhere around the Mediterranean sea you certainly have Greek DNA in you. Almost 100%. (they Hellenize the entire known world, not the same as colonizing people but they implemented writing systems, math, government, schools, etc.) I am Greek and even today, we learn from Greek sources and Espania is certainly part of the histories we learned, was important part especially for Olympics and ancient Greek Mythology.
