Yes!! Phone would not charge. Tiny lightening bolt icon on battery said it was charging but battery level remained at 24%. Followed the reset instructions on this video and it works great! Back in business here! Thanks guys!!

I tried all the options. Till I threw my phone on the ground out of anger and then I plugged the charger in.All of a sudden it started to charge. Edit: Good news, I still have the same phone, working as well. There was this one time in January when my phone didn't want to charge again. I had to hit it against the counter and it started to charge again, still charging. I might get a new phone, I think it's time to get one.

You two are AMAZING! I had my Blackview Tab 8 go out on me and I couldn't get it to wake up and show an active charge even with a brand new charger and cable. This went on for 2 weeks. Figured the battery was just fried and just surrendered to the thought of having to send it away for diagnostics. Took your advice about cleaning out the port with a fine paint brush and then gave it some vigorous taps and some light dust came out twice. Plugged it into the wall outlet and it wasn't more than 10 minutes when I heard the camera activate much to my complete surprise with the unit coming alive and showing an active charge!!!!! What a life saver!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

After a frustrating weekend trying to fix a Samsung A40, I can add one method to your list for when the phone only shows a ring with a lightning: Drain the battery completely! Do this by booting into recovery mode as explained in the video (for samsung A40: disconnect USB, press vol up + power and insert USB, release buttons when the phone boots). (At this stage I wiped the cache I do not know I that's needed or helps. I did not need to do a factory reset.) In recovery mode select "reboot into bootloader". This screen is much brighter and will drain the battery faster. Now remove the USB and leave the phone to drain completely. When the phone has shut down all you need to do is to connect the USB power again and keep your fingers crossed. Mine first showed the ring with lightning, but then immediately the 0% and the ring started pulsating indicating that it was charging. A few minutes later I could boot the phone normally. Background: I attached a cable that was faulty and the phone first showed a Slow Charging message, then it just went black. Pressing power did nothing. Later I realized I could boot into recovery mode, but that did not help a lot since I first wanted to do a back up (which was way to late now). Maybe this helps someone. Maybe it was just dumb luck.

Of course the thing you didn't mention is that your battery may be at or nearing end-of-life, in which case it would be charging but not hold a charge, so, in effect, appear not to be charging. Thank you so much because, even though I just got rid of moisture trapped in my 3 rear cameras and in my front camera (waterproof vs water resistant vs steam proof) my phone is not steam proof, my Samsung A 71 5G It wasn't charging while the phone was on, until I went through your list of tricks and when I got to the safe mode that's when I saw that it was charging.
