As you mentioned in the video there is less interection among people so in that i wanna ask , are there any events etc conducted by uni for knowledge sharing ? Further did ARU students get chance to meet Cambridge uni unis and exchange knowledge? It would be great if you could share your insights on same Thanks

Hey. There is a student union, they organise events, society, other meetings like: outdoor cinema, sports societies, talents shows etc. Secondly, our uni is mixing sometimes with Cambridge students, but rarely. We have some events that are together, but as I said, it's a rare occasion, unfortunately. There are more talks outside the University you can attend at Cambridge university, sometimes you have to pay for them, sometimes is free.

Hello, is it easy to find a part time job in Cambridge? How is nightlife? Does the university make events?
@dominikakalinowska

Hi! Depends in what sector you are looking for a job. There is plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, food stores you can find job easily. At uni there are some jobs available as well. University is creating events regurally for their students, yes. It might differ because of the virus, but from what I know, there is a lot of online societies and groups you can join. More you can read on the university website :)

Hi, I have Autism and mental health problems and I chose ARU because it was apparently the best for health and well being. However I’ve been hearing horror stories about mean tutors and students not having enough support. Do you have any experience in the support services?
@dominikakalinowska
@dominikakalinowska Жыл бұрын
Hey, these stories you hear everywhere, and each student will have a different experience. I did hear a few of them before I joined. Still, because for me it was essential to gain experience on top of education and live in Cambridge, the education bit was not as important. Hence, it is all about your priorities. I had enough support on my psychology course, but each module is run by different tutors and you can't put everyone into one basket. In all organisations, some people are more passionate about what they are doing, and sometimes you find people who want to be paid and be done with the session. It is life and this will happen, we are just humans :)
@dominikakalinowska
@dominikakalinowska Жыл бұрын
Regards to mental health support, that is correct. I was myself looking for help when studying, and they can do it in a few ways, so it all depends on individual cases. There are also external organisations that help, and plenty of phone numbers you can call for free like Samaritans or the Mind charity. From what I know there are some local ones but you would have to do research to find them or ask at the university :)

There are options of placements, internships and work experience. You would have to go to the Carrer/employment office at uni once you are a student and learn about all of the options for you :) some industries have different opinions, wether it's practice or academic opportunity. Just look around. Also, if you find a nice place want to work in, or have a placement, the university can help you get there :)

Hi Dominika, Thank you for the video. You gave us a lot of information about the school. So, a couple of days ago I applied ARU for MA Human Resources Management and now i'm in the waiting process. Actually, I'm already a little stressed because of my bad English. I am gonna take the ielts academic but what i fear most is the presentations. I've heard that UK universities have a lot of presentations instead of exams in their master's programmes. I have a question for you.I realized that English is not your mother tongue either. So how did you deal with such situations? Was your English as good in the beginning as it is today? Could you give me some tips to being ready about this tpye of situations. Thanks a lot...
@dominikakalinowska
@dominikakalinowska Жыл бұрын
Hi, first of all, take a deep breath. Your English is perfect, you are better than you think you are! English language skills will come to you when you practice, learn, read and speak at loud. They come when you have fun. I did struggle at the beginning but I can guarantee you you will smash it after a few months of practice and living in English speaking country. That is true, we had a few presentations, but they are usually easier to prepare and you know what to expect. I would choose a presentation over an exam any time :D You will do great! Just take it easy. There are so many international students, equally stressed about their English skills. You are all in the same boat x

Hi, all universities has good and bad sides. The decision is only on you. I was satisfied with my course, I lived in Cambridge, experienced different life, worked where I liked working whilst studying, gained additional voluntary experience. It all combined (for me) was worth more than going to the best university with the best reviews. It is all about your priorities, what is important TO YOU. What YOU want to do in the future, and how determined you are to create a life you want. Reviews are just opinions of someone's perspective and experiences, and as we know, the same apple can be sweet for one, and sour for the other person. I would read them, but judge on your own, what else can you get whilst studying here.

Hi, the question should be directed to you, which one is best for you? It all depends on your budget, how many people you want in the house/ building, do you mind sharing amenities, how far do you wany to live from uni? There are lots of questions you have to ask yourself. For me, I chose one of the cheapest, so budget was my priority. I didn't mind sharing kitchen and bathrooms so I chosen thoday street shared house accommodation.

Hello Danush, I can't confirm these rumors as I did not experience them personally and have never heard of them. All departments and lecturers work differently.
