For the persons wondering, she set the mic to take the vocals exactly how she wants in to sound in her DAW(protools, Luna, fl studio etc). When punched in, you don’t have to any crazy processing for it was already processed in the interfaces stand alone mixer.
@pimpinton18012 ай бұрын
Yo how she do this tho im trying to have my daw sound like my console but when I record it sounds different do you know why?
@DANTEVLADOАй бұрын
@@pimpinton1801 from my experience with UAD audio interfaces, it has a stand alone console that automatically loads up when your computer turns on. I set up my mic shape and warmth via the console and then record in my daw. For other hardware consoles, I presume you might have to use line input when shaping your mics frequencies. (Don’t quote me, not a pro with this yet)

I wanna learn more. I have always believed hardware controls were better thsn software. But this is showing me differently.
@AriJordan9 ай бұрын
They are, you can hit, hardware harder creating coloration that you can't get with digital. Also a mistake in hardware isn't the same as a mistake in digital a mistake with digital is more crucial. The con with hardware is if your hardware fails where as digital you can just uninstall then reinstall. I've spend hours changing tubes for example in my different pre's and compressors seeing what I liked best. Also if your settings are one way with HW it might sound different the next day even wit the same settings, mic, artist, etc. They both have their pros and cons, but I'd choose analogue every time over digital. I've used many of the consoles and gear over my 32 years and you can tell the difference if your ears are trained to between the two, some come close (for example) waves may sound closer to the actual 76 than UAD version to some.

@ItsKontrast9 ай бұрын
So with the interface there’s an option . You can either have the effects on just so the artist hears it while recording , or you can print it , so all those effects actually manipulate the vocals , meaning there’s no going back lol

Do you ever record higher than 48khz?
@JulianRosso-b7q Жыл бұрын
48khz is more reserved for film/video sound. 44khz is slightly more "musical" and tends to be a little softer to the ears. Most films/videos have 48khz as it sounds more modern/digital. But I'd recommend switching to 44khz to trial it out and to see if you prefer it
@therealforeignwolf Жыл бұрын
Your vocal input level doesn't have to be that high. You can leave it at about 40% on mixer and inside your daw. The engineering/mixing will pull your vocals out front center FOR VOLUME ie compression and limiters...
@stilltrvsbeats9606 Жыл бұрын
Not true, you should aim for -6 for correct signal to noise ratio, this was a standard practice when using analog preamps, as you would get more pleasant colour from your Pre. Also, a mixing engineer will also just turn down the input of the compressor. -6 is industry standard for vocal recording and sometimes louder for the style or genre of music. Lots of music has been recorded with clipping their pre amps for a particular sound, better to record something slightly louder and be able to turn it down, than to record something to soft where you can’t boost it dies to noise from the ground floor and the units you used to record the material
@therealforeignwolf Жыл бұрын
@@stilltrvsbeats9606 I understand, but you can still achieve the same results at -6db... While keeping the recording levels less than halfway when you record. The reason for this is because you will achieve max volume plus clarity. If you record at high volume levels, you'll loose clarity when trying to keep max volume on vocals. Trust me
@nathanaeljames3059 Жыл бұрын
@@therealforeignwolfreal talk atleast with my Apollo when my levels are that high , I get some nasty ass distortion. I usually need it only peaking into the yellow at my loudest points.
@4KDr0 Жыл бұрын
@@stilltrvsbeats9606this is irrelevant to in-the-box mixing bro. What you just said about noise floors is only relevant to hardware units. I typically record low & use gain staging to increase volume. Works out a lot better. You also flipped it, you can turn something up more, but if it’s too loud you cannot turn it down.
@LoskiSavage Жыл бұрын
@@stilltrvsbeats9606 dont listen to this nigga hes talking nonsense. The "industry standard" is -18 dBFS and all the plugins hardware emulation aim to that level as well, which is 0vu analog.

Right... I have tried those UAD preamp plugins a few times and I'm just not satisfied.
@3rdGen-Media Жыл бұрын
@@blvkqmusicgroup I wouldn’t rely on the unison functionality over equivalent external preamplification if you can afford not to. The benefit is in being able to process many channels of externally captured signal using the closest equivalent to physical hardware. I may dream of it, but I’m never going to own several physical channels of SSL 4000 channel strips or even empirical distressors
