The 4x4's are 16ft long, they are berried about 4ft down, no concrete. My ground here is like concreate so it is really solid. We have had some 60-70 mph wind gusts over the last couple years and this thing has not swayed an 1". I would recommend you base your install on your ground type. Again the ground were I am at is clay and river rock, very hard.

From what I can tell, the structure & roof is comprised of just 4x4s and 2x6s right? The 2x6s appear to be wrapped around the 4x4s and just screwed in? I'm looking to do the same setup in my back yard, but have seen videos where they say the beams should be placed ON TOP of the 4x4s for support. Im curious as to whether or not this is necessary and if you could get away with maybe just some corner bracing for additional support. I was thinking 16ft wide, split like you have it with 3 4x4s and then 2 8ft runs of 2x6s. Doesn't seem like a whole lot of weight to me.

@@kellywaldemer9677 I'm no architect but I can tell you that we get some gnarly winds here 60mph sometimes. Since this video I did add corner bracing on each column pole. Obviously I don't walk on the roof but it is enough support for the tin I have on top. I used Joist brackets and don't have any issues. Combined with the side walls I think they add a lot of structural support from sway. Had there been no side walls this setup may have not worked to well....lol!

During rains do you find because the steel roof is not extended that it gets into the patio interior?

looking do same here ,,looks really good too..my question is how did you get away with not using so few 2x6x12 ? look like you used 5 per section ? .im having hard time getting metal roofing supplier guys here to under what pro roofing is ...?
@willsfire2 жыл бұрын
I built the roof to only support the propanel, not to walk on it. I got the propanel at Lowes. Had 80mph winds here in Albuquerque on Wednesday, no issues, thing is rock solid.

I don’t I just kind of winged it. 24 long by 11.5 wide. 6 4x4x12 posts. I just dropped the back about 4” from the front no big science there.

No plans per say just went at it based on images in my head, sorry. As far as the 4x4, I used 16ft 4x4, spaced 11ft apart, buried 4 feet (no concrete). Lopped off at the top what I did not need.
