love your gardern! Just for information, it is very likely that the bamboo used in the insect hotel is glued down, as well as the connections of the frame. Unfortunately, glue is very very harmful for bees (even glue on a water basis) and other insects. Especially wild pollunators get poisoned over time when using these "hotels". So please be mindful when purchasing these insect hotels. A tip would also be to focus on one type of insect (not a hotel with entries for butterflies, ladybugs, bees etc etc, because they cannot thrive with each other in one place), instead buy a hotel that focusses on one type of pollunators or insect :)

What a lovely little garden! A tip on your tomatoes. It looked like you didn't prune the suckers that grow between the regular stem and a branch. These long shoots take a lot of energy from the plant while not producing a lot (if any) fruit. Cutting out the suckers gives the plant more energy to focus on fruit production and also has the benefit of allowing better airflow through the plant so it doesn't catch diseases.
@petitsmomentsfr2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the in-depth knowledge. 😊🍅 I went through this difficult decision when both branches are equally fruitful and strong looking 😆 so I kept both of them. I’m planning to grow cherry tomatoes this summer. I will try better this growing season, getting rid of those suckers as you have mentioned so that they produce more 😊Thank you again for watching. 🍅

This proves that you don't need a big garden to grow your veg and so lovely that you're providing habitat for insects. I bet you don't have a problem with slugs up there. I hope you're all well and continuing your hard work, It's so worth it. Much love from the UK.

Your tomatoes have cracks that may be due to irregular watering or lack of calcium. Add more eggshells to the tomato potting mix and add a water saucer on the bottom of the tomato grow bag (if you don't have one). I love your urban garden. love from NYC
@petitsmomentsfr2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the tips :) I'll definately try to do so this growing season 🍅
@pineappleapplepens2 жыл бұрын
@@petitsmomentsfr if you can, I'd recommend the Espoma Tomato-tone fertilizer. An 8kg bag can last 2-3 growing seasons depending on how many tomatoes you're growing. Seeing you have a balcony garden, it will last 3-4 seasons! Cheers

What a lovely video :) Could you maybe say a few words about how the composting worked that you show at the end of the video? Is this an extra planter where you put in biodegradables, let them rot and then use the soil for other plants? Or is this how you prepared all the big planters and then put the plants in? Everything I read about composting sounds so much more complicated than that 😅
@petitsmomentsfr2 жыл бұрын
For composting, I literally follow a youtube video from Mark (Self Sufficient Me). For my case, it was at the beginning of July that I harvested my 1st batch of lettuce. My planters are 50 cm in depth. Therefore, I was able to bury the food wastes deep down, put some soils on top of the waste and then transplant new lettuces to the same planter. I did not include this in the video as I thought the video might get repetitive. The wastes decomposed in about 6-8 weeks in summer time. I was able to do composting this way as my planters are relatively larger than typical balcony containers. It might not work for every situation :) Another drawback would be that I’m not able to compost my food waste as much as I wanted to. I’m still looking for other ways of composting :) I hope this answered your question. Thank you for watching 😀💚 You can check out this video from Self Sufficient Me: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4Kpc2yDZ7qXgZI

Thank you for watching Rachel 😊 Her86m2 is such an inspiration 💕 I do color correction and color grading but I’m not very good at it for now… I’m still learning 😀 For lining material, I used what’s called “geotextile” which allows water drainage. I got it from a garden supply store 🌻
