@mr burg being able to exercise vs being extremely disciplined in every aspect fo your training to be the best you can be are two different things. It takes a lot of discipline and will power to do what Nick has done for as long as he has. I'm not making him out to be a God but yes anyone can exercise but anyone can't do what iron man people and Nick Bare can do.

its because some people use the old 180 - your age to calculate their Z2 pace and hr and its reeeeeeaally conservative, the correct way is to use your functional threshold pace/hr as your mesure for Z2 the difference for me is about 20% faster Z2

@chrisoman87
@chrisoman87 4 жыл бұрын
ahaha yea I was saying the exact same thing, 4.4w/kg is pro cyclist and he's going to be training 3 disciplines coming from Cat C, that's a pretty unrealistic goal. It also isn't linear growth (unless maybe your hitting the steroids hard), I went from Cat C to B pretty easily because it was semi-serious to serious but my growth in Cat B has been slow.
@danielmorton4306

@@trepidati0n533 yea its pretty common that people just assume if your fit you take steroids on the internet. It wouldn't be a stretch that hes natural hes been training for years and he is definitely ripped but years of training will do that for you, no one should try to diminish his work like that without proof. Apart from his well kept physique hes not particularly exceptional a ~12hr ironman is not fast so I don't understand peoples tendency to jump on the obviously hes on steroids bandwagon

There are two tests you want to do. A sweat test (the rate you sweat) and a salt test (how much sodium you lose when you sweat) and then work with both of those. I had this same test done back in March but my results were onsite which was really cool. I found I was a very salty sweater, so I consume a lot more BASE salt during training and racing.

Hey @NickBare! Really like how you’re stepping up this prep whit a base in sport science. But, why aren’t you using a lactate meter? Or a metabolic cart? And I think the Stryd foot pod would be really beneficial for your running analysis. Yes sure estimating aerobic threshold via a formula is a good enough, fast, easy and cost effective way but since you’re doing a electrolyte analysis wouldn’t a CP, MLSS and VO2max test be a good idea?

Get a massage where you can open your shoulders up. Your stroke is breaking at the elbows. A higher elbow is more efficient at pushing off the water.

Not sure if he reads these at all but avoid over-rotating your head in freestyle when breathing be keeping one goggle in the water. This way your head acts like a bow of a ship and the little wave it makes on the side of your head is a pocket to breathe in. It works in almost all water conditions too.

Get a fan going brother. I love to sweat too but cooling the body down will help put up better numbers and keep the HR down.
