I used to travel all over mainland europe with a friend as travelling musicians. Lived out of our cars and loved every second of it. The only creature comfort we EVER missed....was a fridge! You just couldn't buy any food for more than the meal you were about to cook. I would have loved one of these things. Loving the new van and the tranformation mate. Look forward to seeing how it turns out.

I too, have a basic van... A 20yr old VW Lt. It gets a bit chilly from time to time in the Northeast of Scotland, and after 2year I'm thinking about insulation. My mate comes up from the southcoast twice a year and we go Ferral for a week in the mountains. Best sleep in a van if not anywhere is a camping hammock hung between the bulkhead and the rear doors, underblanket, good sleeping bag..... Toasty all night, in the summer ditch the underblanket. All rolls up to a carrier bag! Sorted 👍🏻 Great video by the way 😊

My van's doors drop over a period of time and squeaking is a result. An adjustment by a suitable mechanic solves the problem. I like your videos. Keep up the great stuff.

You are funny as F. I was eating my dinner of canned Mandarin oranges when you said you were flipping back and forth like a rotisserie chicken. I almost choked on those freaking oranges. Same with going to a wake and having a baby. Wtf. Lol. Anyway, congrats on the fridge. My new fridge got delivered today also. It's the Setpower PT45. It doesn't stack up to the Ecoflo - it doesn't have a battery OR an ice maker :( - but for $332 USD, I'm impressed with it so far. The build is nice anyway. I'll turn it on tomorrow so my fingers are crossed that it cools and sounds as good as it looks. Dude, I so know about the cold! I went to Beaufort, SC, in my SUV before I put the frame together. I figured I would finish the frame when I got there. I got there late so I slept in the front seat with just a thin blanket. I have NEVER been that cold or uncomfortable in my life! By the second night I had the frame together so I could lay down BUT I still forgot to buy a freaking blanket. Again, I FROZE. By the 3rd night, I was good. My heart goes out to anyone who has to sleep without adequate heat or comfort. I couldn't do it. Anyway, good video. See you in the next one.

Another cracking blog. I love Echo flow and have the old delta mini worth the money but over a grand for a coolbox it’s too much. £5-600 that would be max. The ice maker will get buying though lol.

I've always found air beds are a bit naf in cold weather. It's like the air in them just gets colder and colder during the night and you never get warm. You do need something warm on top or you'll probably just die or something.

I would mate but mines an over blanket and it’s not safe to lay on it. I was originally going to get an underblanket but most aren’t supposed to go on memory foam mattresses which is what I had in my last van

@@Adz mine is a over blanket too but safe on lower setting and less juice from the powerstation. used it all winter on a lower setting worked fine and was snug in a rug. anyway its nearlly summer solar fan come out then. China diesal heaters are great and cheap for the size of your van. Fridge looks great but out of the price range for me.rhanks for the vid

The problem is you're sleeping on a big bubble of cold air, get yourself a berghaus sim. More comfortable than an air bed and warmer. 👍

I am converting a transit and used the same dodo Insulation. Still freezing even when completely insulated. I also did what you did and slept on one of those mattresses and that was freezing too. I splashed on the Eberspacher D2 heater and that's great but too warm to sleep with it on...but it gets you toasty before you slide into the bag and I can dry my walking gear. Got a plywood bed now so I'm off the floor and a bit warmer.... But I'm not sure how much the insulation helps really.... Maybe it's more of a vapour barrier in reality. Great vids cheers. My mate has one of those flixr (I think that’s what it’s called) thermal cameras and he can see from the outside of his van how much the insulation makes a difference so it’s definitely worth using. But yeah sleeping directly on the floor is not good! Thanks mate!

@@Adz yeah, I saw a vid with those cameras and it was useful that he could see where heat was escaping. Diesel heater is a game changer for the winter. I also got a vevor chinese one I fitted in the house as a test. It actually works fine but isn't 8kw as described.. Its about as warm as the 2kw eberspacher.... But I think is worth a punt for the money for a van I'd say. Only think is the noisy chinese fuel pumps... Mount them outside as they click. The Eberspacher pump alone is 100 quid but it's nearly silent.. .. Which is about the price of an entire Chinese heater. Love the content.... You're like the uk equivalent of "Mav's" truck camping youtube channel in USA.

I spoke to Alex Frood the other day about his (he does trips to the arctic circle) and he said those Chinese ones never run at what they state. I was planning on getting an autoterm one because the pumps are apparently silent on those too. But I’m currently speaking with another company about something potentially far better. Hopefully the weather picks up soon though and they won’t be needed until the winter! Thanks again mate!

Your dead right to do the insulation properly...i did Dodo then roll of recyclable plastic bottles...25mm insulation board then 5mm vapour barrier..I have no issues with condensation as have only a roof hatch as glass creates moisture...lovely and warm at night with my 2kw diesel heater which i tapped into main fuel as i hear them plastic fuel tanks leak...Great video lad..i am going to buy a load of feasts now haven't had one in years

@@Adz BTW, meant to give you a tip to heat your wraps. Even if sitting on it is an interesting solution ahah. Same as you, the first time I had to heat up my wraps in the motorhome, I had a little dilemma. I didn't want to waste a pan just for that, nor do I have a microwave nor did I want to put it in the grill oven. I had a silicone pan splash guard (a lid with small holes all over) so as I was cooking the content of the wrap in the pan, I put that on top (to prevent splashes) but then I thought, why not put the wraps on it? with the steam of the tiny holes, it should actually work perfectly, and it did. Much better taste and texture than if done in a pan or microwave. It is now the only way I heat the wraps.
