Yep I’m familiar with the leisure batteries I used them on my cruiser boat (nauticus 28ft) good preps mate 👍🏻😎👌🏽

They're definitely a good option for their price. 7 years old now, the panels have extended their life greatly.

Looks good. 👍

Good system, PV

I don't like messing around with them, they're pretty much self sustaining with minimal maintenance - Can be dangerous for the clumsy and uninitiated.

One day I want to install a small solar panel and battery bank for some basic lights in the house.

BioLite have a good system

I have 3 AGMs chained in my kitchen. Panels on roof of my patio. I need to upgrade to lithium. Like #15. Blessings 🙏🏼👍🏼

Sounds good and expensive too. Discharge depth would be very advantagious with a lithium. Energy sustainment and contingency will be of great value, good stuff.

You got a nice battery bank and 6 of them is pretty good actually and i guess you plan to invest in some more batteries. Awesome video my friend and thanks for sharing.

6 is more than enough for my needs - Any more and the ability to recharge them will have to be upgraded too. Maybe in the future I may upgrade them to batteries that can be discharged deeper than 50%.

My god. That would be amazing. I think I will have to stick with my 5000mAh power bank for my pocket though 🤣

The relief of self sustainment is immense. Only when self sufficient, can one look back at the rediculousness of 'the system'.

Nice set up. I long ago planned minimal solar rather than try to replace the mains. Some is way better than none

This is my mains supply - via 1500w inverter - LED lights, tv, washing machine (not hot water or heating though).
@HuplesCat Жыл бұрын
@@PreparednessVeteran hot water takes about a third more power than energy efficient fridges and freezes and led lights. I am not sure if solar home heating is possible unless it is a passive house
@PreparednessVeteran Жыл бұрын
@@HuplesCat Yes. i'm surprised how much fuel/ energy is required for domestic use - hot water/heating and cooking all adds up. Hot water is always the big contentious issue for us. We have to either turn the diesel engine on or hook up to a domestic landline for the immersion heater to be switched on. There are propane options but they eat through a lot of fuel. Solid fuel stove for our heating.

@@PreparednessVeteran The solar gives us plenty in the Summer but in the winter its boiling pots on a wood stove. One day we will get our external wood boil connected!
@PreparednessVeteran Жыл бұрын
@@HuplesCat Similar to a wood burning back-boiler? That's probably the more robust way to go for winter. Yes, solar for us really dwindles from Oct - Apr.
