@@DarthCovider lmao yeah man go on ahead and pay $35 for this buggy mess. It is completely obvious minimum effort was put in for maximum profit. A few characters/maps added in, a tad bit cleaner graphics, and a WOPPING 50 GB STORAGE. Plus, Asypr has a mixed history on porting old games to new devices so I had low expectations for this. Note to others reading this: Hold off buying the game until it gets better or when the price goes down.

100% the only problem is the servers, the mp crowd is flinging a lot of shit rn. The best thing for Aspyr to do is release the mod tools, dev tools, networking code and server files and let the community fix the problem. Other than the mp being bad in only bf2, both games are great. 90% of mods still work after some small tweaking as well.

I ended up refunding my copy. I can wait for them to work out the kinks. I got plenty of other titles I can play through while I wait for a fix and a sale. Better game, better price. I'm tired of games that are released half assed, let alone un-optimized. I'm managing my nostalgia and voting with my bucks on this one.

I'm on PS5 but idk if I'm even able to get a refund at all. Currently there's 400+ people ahead of me in the queue when I checked so I obviously quit so idk when I can get a refund. I also played it for over an hour & PlayStation is terrible with support/refunds.

My experience has always been positive with Steam. PS..Plus(joke), I don't ever have to repurchase my software when I upgrade my hardware, ever.

I also don't want to buy both an Xbox & a Gaming PC cause that's very expensive, I just want one. I wish there was an Xbox/PC hybrid & wish it was a lot more simple. I also don't understand how upgrades work & would never be able to upgrade anything myself.

I’m one of those losers that likes to play games either by myself or with local co-op. So the online issues aren’t affecting me, and I think the graphical updates and improved frame rates are great for single player. But I understand most people wanted this re-release to play online multiplayer, and so those issues are terrible. Hopefully they update and fix quickly, and I wish they had fine tuned this prior to release, but that’s not how video game studios operate anymore.

It would be amazing if they created a few new maps and added some new heroes (on top of the original Xbox DLC) for this rerelease. If there’s any scrapped content for the original games they could have tapped into to keep it as genuine as possible, can you imagine? $19.99 definitely seems like it would have a more realistic price point for what we’re truly getting- which really just boils down to a shot of nostalgia and the ability to share it with other players, and nothing *really* that new. I grew up loving this game, it’ll always be one of my favorite games of all time.

3:39 and on, they talk about more reflective surfaces. On jedi knight II jedi outcast and jedi academy, i used to do skinning and mods etc.. I slapped on most skins i made a reflective shader on some parts of the skin (like metal or armor). This enhanced the look of the skin, keep in mind this was back in 2009-2014. I feel like they slapped shaders on excisting models and slightly enhanced the textures looking at all the videos i see. Like Theory says, they could have made new models, new animations, etc.. But it ain't worth the current price.

i really do miss JKO/JKA. i spent sooooo many thousands of hours in that multiplayer. had server browsers from user created content, mod support, the community back then was different but it was so good. i met so many amazing friends along the way. we all fought each other in game in the duel setting and we learned from each other it was really fantastic. some communities even had full blown structured clans based on skill and dedication to the craft. some of the BEST duelists in the game were something truly amazing to watch and experience. id go back to JKA in a HEARTBEAT if it had anyone playing it.

I had a mixed reaction to this. It had texture issues, and when playing the campaign mode, after you win, it doesn’t show the end cutscene. It cuts to the scoreboard screen. The gameplay is still fine.

the 64 player online was what i wanted, but its not even cross platform so the player base is divided multiple times and on top of that the servers are garbage. Overall its a massive cashgrab, no true care or effort went into this, at no point did anyone in the process of releasing this think about the players.

On Xbox it is a pure port of the originals with the slight updates. When i played IA on Xbox (all gens) it could lose sound randomly and the only way to fix it was restart the game entirely. I have experienced this again to prove that point.

On launch PC was a disaster, 3 dedicated servers for BF2 and ZERO for BF1 lol. I stayed up till 1am with 2 of my buddies to hop in and create a server so we can get people to play with and have fun but could not at launch. fast forward to now and servers are up but hit scan is really wonky like Theory said and honestly i am torn on my view on it now just because the MP is up at the moment. Would love to see what Theory said in applied to the game and get new models or even new units and heroes in the future with actual support for the game and not just leave it as it is now which is what im scared about.

It's got the feel of a cash grab but I did feel the sense of joy playing Battlefront again. My only dislike is I found some textures didn't load in my game and just comes up as a black spot or missing texture allowing me to see through objects (solo player/Rise of the Empire)

I find the game's interesting and I like watching others play it. I think the biggest reason that Lucasfilm didn't go with it is because it still embodies the MOST POPULAR CHARACTERS, the original and prequels. The only thing that Lucasfilm and Disney cares about is their own creations, and if they are not adorned by the public regarding their SWs characters, which many don't (including me) they don't seem to invest in it.

Looks like Battlefront 2004 in the classic collection still only has a 28v28 bot count in Instant Action, which for me is pretty disappointing as I was expecting an updated bot count of 64 like Battlefront II had. In addition, some bots seemed to not load in all the way which made some instant action matches really one-sided. Matches seemed difficult on your side even with easy mode selected. Idk, hope they look at the collection again and tweak some things if they can.

I would have bought it if it was graphically rebuilt from the ground up like so many other older games these days, like tony hawk, crash, spyro, shadow of the colossus, etc... but I guess Disney doesn't trust Aspyr with that after what happened with KOTOR remake. Still though, I think Battlefront deserved better, wish they would've given it too another studio so they could do the graphics justice and maybe get the online servers working. Anyway, I'll still pick it up for the switch so I can have the series portable but I'll definitely be waiting for a discount.

The original games you can buy on any console were more than good enough. They could have improved the environment with things like actually putting in modern water instead of the old make a square and repeat it everywhere. Also there’s no reason any mode that has co op can’t be online.

@Star Wars Theory --- I do not think we're ever getting Battlefront 3 from EA Star Wars, more so if they do not extend their licensing agreements because of the percentage increases by DLF for those licenses. Also remember that if EA uses Unreal Engine, they have to fork over a cut to Epic Games as well --- that's how it is for all UE-based games. I think they just see the cost of all of it as prohibitive which is why they cancelled a lot of games, including BF3. BUTTTTTT what I could see is that DLF starts to buy out the rest of the pie for the Battlefront series (which is owned in large part by EA, in conjuction with Disney) and then have Epic Games do something with it, because ya know Disney bought a large chunk of Epic Games. Imagine a "Fortnite" like style of game set in Star Wars as the "new" Battlefront 3 that's hooked into the "metaverse" world that Epic Games and Disney are working to create? Would people buy that? Personally, FUCK YES I WOULD! I hate Fornite because its just turned into shit tbh but I cannot deny how fun it was. To set up something similar on a Star Wars background would be amazing!

I appreciate the review. Here's my thing, I grew up on these games. I went and saw 1, 2 and 3 in theaters with my mom, aunt and uncle. They are who got me into the Star Wars Universe as a whole. However, this was pretty much one of the first "Star Wars video games" I ever played. I played the Pod racer game on N64 then I didn't play another Star Wars game until these two came out in the, what was it, early 2000s? I do agree with bugs, cause, what game doesn't launch with some sort of bugs? How else does the company know what to address and fix post launch? No game drops day one perfect, it's literally impossible. However, I disagree about the price a bit and maybe its a ticky tack reason, but here's why. In the states, it's available on PS4 for like 35 bucks(36 and some change when you include taxes) and to me, you're essentially buying 2 games for the price of one, so, for example, for me, it'd essentially be 18ish bucks per game and for you, ranging between 45 and 50 bucks, you essentially paid 20-25 bucks per game. Now, I say all of that to say this. These 2 games were mega childhood for me, so, between it being Star Wars and it being a game with a ton of fond memories for me, I'm gonna get it eventually regardless and I hope a lot of other fans feel that same way so that hopefully, if this is successful enough of a re-debut into this franchise, maybe just maybe, a long awaited Battlefield 3 could come off this rereleased set

The base of this hype was that we were getting the actual old games back and playable on new Gen. The lighting upgrades and textures are cool, but I disagree with needing new charter designs, sounds etc. Battlefront Classic would have been a game I would be comfortable paying 60! My experience with the originals was with no internet connection so it was all solo or with a buddy via splitscreen. So NONE of the multiplayer issues affected me.

For those that are wondering where the huge file size is coming from, 4K textures are gigantic in size. I'm also guessing they didn't optimize it all either. Battlefront 2 2017 for instance has 2k textures and is 90 gigs.

Aspyr are contractually obligated to only improve the engine and graphical fidelity. They cannot add new maps, units vehicles etc etc. They were hired to remaster the games and they did, it’s the bare minimum sure and I won’t argue that the multiplayer works well. BF2 servers have always been terrible tbh, they need to give the community the server files and net code for the game so we can fix it ourselves.

If they fix the multiplayer I’m honestly happy with it. The rare times it did let me join a match I had a lot of fun gameplay wise online with other people. It’s just the lag, random bugs, and difficulty to join servers that’s frustrating me, but I think they can easily turn that around with a few updates/patches if they actually decide to put in the effort. Just my opinion though💯

It looks like they just took the Kit Fisto and Ventress mod and put it into the game and shipped it and charged people for it. They look exaclty like the modded versions. They both have the same graphical glitches and issues that the mod has (ex. Ventress’ off-hand lightsaber clipping through her torso and not being held in her off-hand) exactly like the mod’s glitch issue.

Conquest matches are too short because of the increased player count. Five minutes of gameplay at best and reinforcements are exhausted. Reinforcements need to be quadrupled at least. You will never be able to win by capturing all command posts because the game ends WAY too quickly.

So far I’m having fun. It’s not perfect and has issues but I still have hope they’ll fix those problems. I don’t hate the company because they did bring back a lot of classic games. Like KOTOR which I did buy for my switch and it runs decent. I think the other problem is people assume a game comes out pefect. It doesn’t. No game with servers comes out neatly and clean. I agree. Give it a week and it’ll get likely fixed. Curious question: Do you believe that if they add new maps, the price would be compromisable? Or does it have to be new models only?

Honestly, I think they did a decent amount of texture updates and a few things like that. With 2 games in 1, I think $35-$40 is maybe a little high but not rip-off territory. New models would start to edge into remake territory and if they remodeled the characters and worlds, it'd be easily a $60 game, maybe more. I think this is relatively fine. Basic HD re-released with even less effort than this often release at $15-$20 per game. So I'm not that surprised and them doing any texture work is a nice upgrade, plus we know they won't be doing bs dlc for an extra $10 like most modern games do. In general, the pricing may not quite be ideal, but I think they did alright here. And hey, you can always just grab the originals and mod them or play them on the Xbox with its backwards compatibility

I got this for ps5. I pay alot for internet, I didn't receive any lag. My game crashed once. I started it back up took 1 min to load back up. Online they should add more tickets. The Fonts aren't how they used to be - that didn't stop me from having fun gameplay. The textures for being 20 years old was playable for me.

Outside of the bugs I’m enjoying it single player. It’s hard to judge because of the nostalgia for me. These games represent Star Wars at its peak. What bothers me most is Helldivers is also $40 and has a clear influence from Battlefront. How is it we ended up with a port for the same price? Couldn’t they have made a Battlefront similar to Helldivers quality instead? A new Battlefront game would have been a direct competitor to Helldivers.
