Playing as a hero in Battlefront 2015 was never based on performance. It was whoever was lucky enough to stumble upon a hero pickup and that was the problem.

Actually, they did test it out along with a health system for heroes bases on kills like on the og battlefront 2, though they removed it after a week or two due to "poor feedback". They never once patched it or tried just skill based or just the health system either, so there was no opportunity for growth there. I'm still salty about that

In EAs Battlefront 2, i absolutely recommend doing co-op to level up units and heroes if you are a brand new player or if you just want to get those maxed out star cards. Wednesdays also have triple xp so you can level up real fast. Great vid btw!

Its stinks because me and my brother planned on 3 star every mission but sadly we cant. My assumption is console limitations.

Dice's BF 2 died because it was mostly COD corridor shooter and not Battlefield combined battles. It took years for them to even add Supremacy. And that was still half corridor shooter.

@@NiosaiThat requires an account system that can be linked between devices, it is a lot of infrastructure work on its own and also requires some backend changes. Gamespy also does not exist anymore and has been completely ripped out of the collection altogether there is not a system to build from. Crossplay will therefore most likely not be a thing in the Collection it is simply out of scope for a project of this kind. The collection is more or less about unifying all the versions of Pandemic battlefront (especially 2) as well as adding online for consoles and future proofing the games a little bit in terms of engine tech.

As of right now I'm trying to talk my friends into getting the PlayStation versions because they have confirmed that multiplayer is at least cross gen.

@@cwooddirectorit was in Academy and it was not really cross play, PC players were just able to find the server consoles used and it created issues, which is why it was also removed. It was a bug and not proper cross play.

Yeah Dice is well known for making visually breathtaking games but they focus so much on that so most other parts of the games suffer. If Dice would have tried to copy the old school 2004/2005 formula with their engine, sound design, and graphics the game would have been perfect. Also Dice could have just made an actual Battlefield game but with Star Wars aesthetics and the game would have been much better than what actually came out. The OG games are timeless and I’ll be spending hundreds of hours on the new classic collection. Those games were my childhood.

I do sort of agree in a sense, and I kind of said something similar in the video. The DICE production values in a more Classic-style Battlefront game would be incredibly cool, but at the same time, I do think it's okay for a developy to try their own spin on an established franchise.

That said, what fans wanted (a Battlefront 3) was well known and Dice just incorporated very little from that desired build into their games and just monetized the crap out of it. First game ultimate edition was going for over $100 US and didn’t launch with much and then drip fed content for a year and then the game just died so quick. Then the 2nd with the loot crates….

For the PSP games (Renegade and Elite), your biggest problem for the controls, according to your gameplay, was your absolute neglect of the right shoulder button (the same button used to strafe) for the active lock-on which will also auto-lock on for headshots after a couple of seconds not firing at your target and keeping your aim locked. I.e. you don’t disengage active target-locking, or the enemy rolls; which is something you can do as well in a pinch to disengage enemy lock-on with the circle button. This same principle applies to space battles; use the triangle button to follow enemy ships automatically and the D-pad down button to switch between targets. Right shoulder button to speed up. (In Elite Squadron this is changed to Left shoulder to speed, and right to auto-follow a selected ship target; D-Pad down is still to cycle targets). It’s a great bit of gameplay system making up for the PSP only having a single analog stick.

Fun fact there was and likely still is a bug in Battlefront Renegade Squadron where that point system didnt matter. You could equip whatever you wanted in the menu, close the app and as loong as you didnt go back into the menu you had everything you wanted

Battlefront 2015 was probably the most disappointed I've ever been in a video game. I remember seeing the trailer and being so hyped. The game looked absolutely gorgeous, and the sound design was top notch. However all of my hype INSTANTLY left my body after coming home to play it on release. NO campaign mode, NO Galactic Conquest, No Clone Wars, No Class System, NO space battles with capitol ships, The customization was half baked, the Star Card system was grindy an led to one-sided matches, and the extra modes honestly sucked. You could only play spitscreen in the survival mode (the worst mode by a mile). After playing for 10 or so hours I saw writing on the wall. I had already experienced everything the game had to offer. It had a good outline for a game but the content just wasn't there. An outline isn't good enough for a return of one of the most BELOVED gaming series' in history. Then BFEA2 happened and my disappointment turned into sheer unfiltered RAGE. However, I was smart. I didn't pre-order the game. I wasn't gonna let EA do me like that again. I waited until reviews came out and they were abysmal. INSULTINGLY AGRESSIVE monetization tactics, DOGSHIT campaign, and once again lack of content. Luckily they were able so salvage it in the latter half of the games lifecycle, but they had to at that point cause they were being CLOWNED by the entire gaming industry. I GAURENTEE you the Jedi games are result of the absolute PR SHITSTORM that was BFEA2. I'm just glad that the gaming and Star Wars community banded together to combat EA's BS. I really want a dev to give the franchise another shot because the DICE games had potential, they just fell victim to EA's poor management. I want new entry that gives this franchise the love and respect it rightfully deserves.

Actually, that reminds me of the Rogue Squadron books from Legends, where Wedge and the gang infiltrate Coruscant after Endor and discover Imperial propaganda that portrays it like the Death Star was a sinister *rebel* battle platform that the Emperor *heroically* gave his life to stop. 24:49 neat glitch you could do. Max out everything in an online lobby / game. Pick everything that had highest capture rate/ health/ speed/ weapons and side weapons. Turn off the wifi with the psps simple slide to turn off wifi button. Itd kick you from the lobby. And then youd turn it back on and go into any game. Local or online. And youd have every perk and like 240 points out of 100.

In battle front2 you can earn special weapons when doing certain things with special units. For instance with sniper, get enough headshots you get a stronger sniper rifle. Do this enough times, you can get it permanently.

Hero Starfighters in Dice's Battlefront 2 is actually different to HvV. From what I remember everyone starts as a ship but when you die you can choose any basic ship from any era. It's round based similar to Hero Showdown and you win the round by defeating the enemy Hero ships. Similar to Battlefront 2015's HvV, actually; minus the fact that everyone starts as a hero rather then three people chosen at random.

The only thing i really hate about starwars battlefront 2 in galactic conquest there is always 150 vs 150 reinforcement no matter what so when you take over a planet you dont have to worry about how many troops are there defending it. The reason Elite Squadron exists is because it was gonna be the PSP/DS port of Battlefront 3. The PSP port’s devs were also making a PS2 version, and their work was going just fine. But when the PS3/XB360/PC versions were cancelled, the last gen devs decided to scrap the PS2 version, and rename the PSP version to sound like a successor to Renegade - that way all their work wouldn’t be for nothing. Then the DS devs just followed their lead with the name change.

When I first started playing BF2, it was the star card upgrade system that left my team at a disadvantage that made me not want to continue playing. It was even worse on release on account of it being random drops - and even after they changed it so this wasn't the case, I continued to think of it as being such.

It’s so funny hearing you mention the meta in the early days of battlefront being dodge rolling and nading, that it doesn’t exactly scream spectacular space battle. In hindsight now, dodge rolls and cqc have become the bread and butter of all the best 3rd person shooters 😂

One thing you missed for BF 2015 (not surprising if you were playing solo), is that for Leia and Palpatine (and later Krennic), 2 players can spawn on you as a "bodyguard" unit. Leia gets the Honor Guard, Palpatine get the red Royal Guard, and Krennic gets Death Troopers. These two players get a few powerful abilities like a rocket launcher as a rechargeable ability and some extra health. It's a shame this wasn't carried over in BF2. One other thing people don't notice, in BF 2015, the sky box would change depending on who was winning the match. In Walker Assault as the Empire gets closer to their objective more Star Destroyers appear and rebel ships begin to get blasted out of the sky or take heavy damage. Or if they're running out of time, the Star Destroyers are on fire or are crashing onto the planet. It was a little detail I always enjoyed in that game. For the most part, I didn't like BF 2015 but those few things I thought were great. 48:25 getting to be a hero was never based on performance in BF 2015 it was always based on finding those random tokens on the map.

Hero showdown in bf2 is one of the hardest things ive played. I just bought this game like 2 weeks ago and ive gotten accustomed to most modes, but the skill gap in hero showdown is insane. That mode is where the masters sit for sure.

one thing i've enjoyed doing and was sad i couldn't *really* do is being just me without teammates against the entire other AI team. for the OG battlefront 2 i'd kill off my team and it'd usually end up as something like 3 vs 60 which was tense and fun, or setting the AI to 1 and reinforcement count to 15 units and playing my own kind of hunt lol. But with EA battlefront 2, i *have* to have teammates and they keep spawning even when we have "1 unit left" which i really don't like. Actually being the very last guy is thrilling!

The first EA Star fighter gameplay was edged for the rebels. I can’t tell you how many times as a tie fighter I had perfect hits on non-shielded rebel ships and it had 0 damage. I know it’s perfect hits because the sparks from hits was raining off of the ships. And I do know what the blue shield looks like. It wasn’t the shield.

I'm still hoping that one day a team can create a Galactic Conquest Mode that is a hybrid of Battlefront 2 and Empire at War. For example, use EaW methodology for the Galactic Map so you can build forces and make armies/ fleets, and then BF2 style to conquer the space and land forces.

Skirmish is basically instant action for 2015 and did not exist upon the initial release. It was so much more sparse on release. It also sucks to me that the game’s servers are dead, but I guess that’s what you get for making a modern game focused on/weighted heavily toward multiplayer.

Fun fact with Elite Squadron. if you destroy the Ion Cannon on the ground and have the max points to 5000 it can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours.

You've got a bunch of stuff wrong about 2015, so let me correct you: Firstly, you do own the dlc, otherwise you would only have 3 heroes on each side. Only 2 of the game's multiplayer modes are playable offline, walker assault and fighter squadron. Walker assault being one of the 40 player modes. The other is supremacy, where you capture command posts. Also, heroes were never awarded for performance, the hero pickups were there since launch. Other than that, I really enjoyed this video

What I would want to see in a battlefront game are the following. 1: clone troopers that is your character. What I mean we make phase 1/2 armor with armor and padding, the more armor you have slower you are, but more health you can have. Allow us fully customize like. Let’s say someone wants to make a clone trooper that has Darth Maul marking, go ahead, or even clans could have a ‘clan skin’ thaf the clan leader can make, call it a number and maybe even write a little lore for those corp to add more roleplay to it. 2: Hero having cannon and Legend skins, for example think of Darth Vader with a broken mask showing the face under. Or a Lord Vader that is before he was burn. Or lastly his all white armor. This would have so many custom for hero to mix things up a bit. 3: Ground to Space battles. Using battlefront 2 (2019) supremacy mode, when you capture enough of the ground there a time limit where people can get to an area of ships. Think of people getting into single/double or a group of 6 with the biggest ship getting in and a player to fly out to the next part of a space battle to land in. If you died you get to watch if in time the ship your on coming out of light speed and some can stay on turret or get on the ships to get out and when you have to get back to ground everyone fly down. 4: larger map for more vehicles combat with ground and air battles. And I don’t want it to be something where you wait in a menu to get a chance to click a card no I want to walk up jump in and go. 5: more weapons OR each weapon clearly feels diffrent. 6: Some map having a 3rd party of neutral team. Where they attack both sides 7: if in space battles I would love if possible someone could control the big ships, like that be so cool of course they be slow as hell but that be cool.

I've spent a lot of time thinking about why Battlefront (2015) is visually... sharper than Battlefront 2 (2017), and I'm glad you pointed this out. I think part of it is intentional design choice. Battlefront 2 introduced the Sequel and Prequel eras. While the Original Trilogy was initially shot to have a documentary style, according to Lucas, which based it in a 'realistic' sci-fi fantasy setting and aesthetic, the Prequel and Sequel trilogies exist to sell toys, primarily, and as such are cartoonish at their core. The game would have looked really weird if Clone Wars Anakin was in the hyper-realistic artstyle of Battlefront (2015). The gameplay is also more fluid and arcadey to a degree, so it fit the gameplay as well. I do agree with your take on the lighting as well, however. I'd love to see someone mod that lighting engine at some stage.
