I have no idea how many videos of yours I've watched in total (today or in general). I just love them. It's like getting to chat books while I'm drafting briefs at work or working on my horror D&D campaign when I'm home. Just so pleasant.

Hey Peyton! I'm so happy to see you posted- I've been missing you. What you said about being kinder to yourself is so true. Don't put too much pressure or stress on yourself. Getting in a reading slump certainly sucks- I've been there many times. Hang in there girl and it's all worth it when you find that perfect book that brings you back! Thanks for posting 😊

I'm reading Absolution by Jeff Vandermeer now (coming out in October), which is book 4 of Southern reach series. I can't say this series is strictly horror, although the first book (Annihilation) has one of the scariest scenes I've ever read, but I find that he is so great at creating this oppressive confusing atmosphere, and everyone is an unreliable narrator. I can't review Absolution yet , but I loved the first three books, and would recommend if you haven't read these.

I had a rough reading month, too…2 back-to-back DNF’s after not having having any since winter. Just makes a good read feel even better, though. Expectations tend to bite me more often than not. I seem to have lots of unpopular opinions & it’s hard not to get why so many others felt differently. We like what we like, & there are always lots more waiting to be a next 5star.

July was a pretty successful month for me (no terrible books and I cleared a few things that had been lingering on my shelves), but then August turned into a slog for me. I had a few chunkier fantasies and some good expectations, and I barely got through it 😅

The way I *KNEW* the book was going to be Lady Macbeth 🙈🙈🙈🙈 Not me hyping it up since January!! It’s got super divisive reviews, you’re not alone!!!!

I've been in a reading slump for a few months. Thankfully, Im not a book content creator, because the solutio Im trying, is giving myself permission to actively stop reading.

I read A Study in Drowning by Reid and felt similarly to how you reacted to Lady Macbeth, good ideas that didn’t quite reach their potential. I think after your review of Macbeth maybe she isn’t an author for me🙈I am so sorry your two biggest books of the year were such a let down. Keep in my fingers crossed you’ll hit your stride again soon. Reading is a hobby to enjoy - try to take that pressure off yourself ❤
