From the way OP describes her relationships with her sister and Fiance, I guess she's a 'giver' and they are 'takers'. The unfortunate thing is that when you're a kind, loving, and generous person, you need to learn how to protect yourself and spot the people who are going to take advantage of you. I'm glad the other people in her life stepped up to help her redecorate and feel better.

Wow. The whole 'I'm sorry I cheated but I was lonely' excuse is lame to begin with, but to say this to your partner who is grieving the loss of her best friend is monstrous. My heart breaks for OP. She lost three people that were important to her. Her best friend, her fiance and her sister.

I'm glad to hear that OP held firm and did not agree to meet and give her sister and ex fiancé the chance to spin a sob story to alleviate their own guilty conscience. It bothers me no end when people say that the victim of horrendous betrayals owes the betrayer(s) closure in the form of one last conversation. F that. It's extremely offensive to not only ask but demand such a thing of a victim who is already hurting and potentially already feeling like giving up on life. It's cruel to ask him or her to hurt even more just so that the wrongdoers can feel better about themselves and their evil acts.

My advice is that if OP's current relationship breaks down, like if she catches the new guy cheating or he gets sick/injured to the point of feeling like too much of a burden to her or he outright dies, turn to any brothers she might have so they can start playing matchmaker from between their morally sound sister and any single platonic friends they might have that happen to have an interest in women.
