Fake blood at the Halloween store is about 8 buck per bottle and 20 for the jug. I don't want to pay that much for that little. Corn syrup makes good fake blood buts it's sticky and attracts bugs. So that's why I started researching and experimenting so here is what I found.
This is my recipe:
Bring 4 cups of water to a low boil.
Slowly add 1/3 cup of corn starch to the boiling water- Whisk it vigorously as you add!
Add a LOT of red food coloring.
Add 1 drop of blue food coloring.
Add ROUGHLY a tablespoon or more of instant coffee to give it a bit of a darker gory look.
Make sure you're still stirring!
Turn off the heat, but keep stirring as it cools.
It will thicken as it cools. add small amounts of water as necessary to thin it to desired consistency.
Hope this is useful! Happy Halloween!

Just use flour corn syrup red dye one or two drops of blue dye to darken the color and if you want it to be more runny add just a little bit of water

Corn Starch should be added to COLD water. It dissolves much better.

@@ClayCarlino it worked out great Clay! Because I was able to make so much, I had no qualms about using plenty :) I’m using it for one of the 48 hour film projects I’m participating in this weekend. If you’re interested in seeing your prop mastery in action, I’ll share the link when it’s online. Seriously, that was some phenomenal blood though

I wanna try this! But I was just wondering, does this blood dry after application or does it stay wet and sticky?
@ClayCarlino
@ClayCarlino 4 жыл бұрын
The main ingredients are water and corn starch, so if you thin it down like I did, it stays wet, but it's not sticky. There's no sugar or syrup in it, which is nice. Instead it's starchy. I imagine if you made a thick batch it would probably dry in a relatively short time, but I've never actually tried it that way, so you may want to test it out to make sure.

Clay Carlino when you mix starch with hot water it creates thick clog of starch in water. Instead if you will mix with cold water it mix smoothly and never make clog dissolve completely.

I didn't like the results with any of the flour based recipes I tried. I was never happy with how it looked. But if you've got recipe that works well, shoot a quick video or post some pics somewhere. I'll gladly put links to it here in my comments so other people can see it! Thanks for the suggestions.

Does this stain clothes or skin and is this edible?
@fitbmx7744
@fitbmx7744 4 жыл бұрын
@@DarkShadow-tg1sz Given the ingredients it is edible if it hasn't spoiled, but it is going to taste really bad. If you want so that taste better I would use a corn syrup recipe. This and any other that uses food coloring will stain clothes and lightly stain skin. You can make fake blood using acrylic paint (red, black, and blue,) mixed with Dawn dish soap, and some baking soda. You just eyeball the mix, it cleans off of skin but will stain clothes. It does dry quickly, so you can slow that down by putting some vegetable oil to make it "wet" longer. To make a removal solution mix 40% rubbing alcohol 50% water 5% baby oil and 5% baby body wash.
