Your commentary is getting better and better. It flows nicely with the emotion you show throughout the different hands, makes it feel like I'm over your shoulder watching the hands. Great vid Sam!

Hey man! Just wanted to say that you seem to be a really consistent and careful player, and that your videos are genuinely interesting to watch! Just out of curiosity, what sort of level of money did you start at when you started playing poker, and what would you recommend?

I appreciate that! I’m trying to be more diligent in studying and learning more since I make many mistakes. I started playing live poker in April and my bankroll was ~$1k, I’ve gone up and down since April and I’m currently down a bit right now. I would definitely recommend not starting with 5/5, as I’ve noticed the players are a lot better. I may even go back to 2/3 myself since I do a lot better against those players. Good luck!

Good vlog: On the A4 hand you definitely lost a lot of value. That hand is a great check raise on the turn, can look like a flush draw if you check raise small he probably calls all kings. Then you can blast the river blank and get paid for an all in. Or at least get added value from any diamond draw by check raising the turn. When you have an unexpected strong hand like that try to play for stacks. That’s the implied value of that draw. And on the QQ hand, out of positions with like 5 callers, 25 is way too little. I’d go to like 40. Their ranges are capped except maybe the first limper. No one limps AA or KK or AK after a limp. So blast off with AA-JJ there. And yes you beat nothing on that board.. I gotta get down to LA, that game looks weak and lively…..:)

Thanks for the feedback. I like the advice on the A4 hand especially. The games are usually pretty loose down here, lots of action. Depends on the table of course.

Not the pizza giving you indigestion. White stomachs struggling out here. Good hands, like the QQ fold.

How long have you been playing poker for ?
@pokersam5 ай бұрын
I’ve played casually with family and friends growing up. As of April this year, is started taking it more serious and played my first live sessions. I just started studying CLP and a bit of GTO as well, hoping to get better since I’m not very good.

Why are the screens in front of all the players that are seated at the table ???
@pokersam5 ай бұрын
It's super annoying. They added those for players to make bets on the flop and stuff.

Im glad to see you're booking a win! Keep it up, however there is much to learn! :) In my opinion the first hand was player terrible. Sorry :( First of all, you shouldn't even be in that hand, since UTG and UTG+1 will often have tight range. But if you decide to play that hand anyway, you should be raising from SB, not just flat calling suited ace. Then if you get into a point where you check with the nuts, and UTG bets, UTG+1 calls, you should be raising it bro. Don't let them see the card for 35$, raise it up to 110-160$. If you get called, it gives you perfect opportunity to go all in on the river, and get maximum from your hand. Instead of calling the turn and betting river as 1st to act, you should be raising turn, and jamming river if the opportunity comes. Also be mindful, that even if A came on the turn, you would be outkicked 95% of the time, again... UTG and UTG+1 will play tight most of the time, and 4 as a kicker is not good at all :) I hope you appreciate the hand overview :)

Thanks for your time and the breakdown. I am especially upset I didn’t raise turn and jam river, but I also agree with your preflop points. Just started playing live in April so have a long way to go!

I really dislike those dumb stupid touch screens they have in the table at Commerce

Congrats on a win, but you have some terrible plays here. The A4 hand should definitely be x/r on the turn, for max value charging flush draws, and also all the action killing cards on the river. The A3 hand, you should never be leading into the preflop 3b on AT3ccc after you just called preflop. You should be check calling or check raising here. If you are just leading when you have strong hands, you are ridiculously easy to play against, and you'll never have AA in this spot. You should also be raising to 3x or 4x preflop. Online you can do 2 to 2.5x based off position, but rake is so high at commerce you should just be going straight 3x or 4x at all positions. Min raising is just not profitable. Also, opponents will call too wide, regardless of open size.

Thanks for the insight on this hand. I agree, I misplayed the hand in pretty much every street. When I checked the turn, I expected my opponents to bet, which they did, but for some reason I just called(?). Raising big there was probably my best bet at getting paid, and I should of shoved on the river regardless. I have a lot to learn!

The lead on the A3 hand is very well played. Most players are donking with medium strength hands. Not hands as strong as two pair. If the opponent had a strong Ace with a club, they would almost certainly be raising, and then we can call or 3 bet. Some of the hands were a little meh… but leading into the pfr with Aces up is a very nice play. Check raising just announces you have a strong hand…
