Simple and easy things that we all can do to get better. The tips on my channel will work at 17 and also at 70. Let's get better together.
Let me help you get an effortless golfswing with speed and accuracy. A good release will help you to a better impact and longer drives and irons without slice and hook. How to swing a golf club need to be adjusted to your skill level and experience.
Long and straight is the goal for everyone but it takes time. Try to focus on one thing not everything when you practise. Impact, face control and swingpath will always be the most important part to drill. We focus too much on rotation but no good golf shot will be executed just by rotating.
I’m naturally right handed but all my tips works for both left handed and right handed golfers.
We also need to understand that many myths in golf are misleading. We shall not keep our head still, only start with the hips, look only at the ball or keep the left or right arm straight.
If you use callaway, ping, titleist or taylor made clubs doesn’t matter you can learn to hit good golf shots. Your loft or your shaft on the club will not change but you can get better.
Find what inspires you. The pga tour, longdrivers or other good golfers can all help you find better golf shots. Watch what they do instead of listed to what they say. Listen mostly to your body and figure out what you need to do to produce the same results as the pros on TV. Be careful when you watch a golf swing in slow motion. The result isn't always what the golfer is trying to do. Feel and real are seldom the same.
Mike Malaska, Mike Austin, Mike Dunaway and Steve Pratt are some of my favorite golf instructors online. Find the tips that make your golf better. Decide what you want to hit. I teach a draw but many like a fade and nobody likes a hook or slice.
Your hips or your lag is not the key to golf. Your hands will decide the shot and you can do like Tiger Woods and trust your hands. Teach your hands to hit different shots. Hit big hooks and slices to understand what happens. Only straight is not gonna teach you anything.
Bryson Dechambeu and Kyle Birkshire can inspire you to hit it longer. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson can give you inspiration and motivation to test new things and new golf shots. Linn Grant, Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg can show you the future of golf.
The Masters, Players Championship, The Players, The Open and US Open can make you love golf even more. See the best in the world solve all the problems we all need to master any golf course. Golf is a craft and you need fantasy, feel and skills to master it.

Thanks!. I just discovered your channel last week and I’ve only watched a few of your lessons so far, but you have already been a big help. At 77 years old, I’ve been struggling to get back to bogey golf. Since watching a few of your videos I have been to the range once and have only played once, but I am hitting many more quality shots and I dropped 5 strokes off my average scores. I’m going to keep watching and practicing.

I'm in my 70th year of life and I took up golf about 5 years ago; never did understand golf instructions which never worked for me; there's nothing intuitive about the golf swing, and it's infinitely harder to pick something like this up as an older adult as opposed to a young one; your methodology makes sense and works; I'm still not a great golfer but I am improving now and have a much better golf shot thanks to you. I never listen to anyone else now !!

Update from an 68 years old golfer that had to give up golf for a few years due to back problem cause by too much golfing.....being a canadian familiar with the slap shoot, I decided to try swinging golf clubs and to follow yours directives .Spending 7 weeks in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. I spent the last 4 weeks hitting a basket of golf balls almost every day. For those interested let me tell you that my new slap shoot golf swing allow me to enjoy hitting golf balls without any pain. Being a very good student of the game I am able to hit my drive s around 215 yards carry from and average of 175 yards. At the range the big slices are almost inexistant being replace par fades. I mostly hit nice draws. Really I prefer practicing then playing. I am getting back to the cold next week but I will keep watching these great videos and get ready for the upcoming golf season in Canada hopefully soon less than 2 months. Thanks Marcus sorry for the long message but I want peoples to understand that with some efforts and a positive attitude you will improve there is nothing difficult but it could be new for someone to make changes in their golf swing. Keep it simple.

"Moving in sync with your weight"!! This is the best golf swing video ever. Move your weight back with the club and move your weight forward with the club! I really think this is THE secret. It is the key to your timing, control and power in the swing. After watching your video I tried it and it was a huge AHA moment after about 4 or 5 swings! Most of the reasons for any mishits is because your body weight momentum is ahead of the club's momentum. When you transfer your weight early even if you are tilted with your head behind the ball you are not getting your weight into the hit and timing and power is very hard to control. When you go back with the club and move forward with the club there is no rush you feel like you have all the time in the world but you can swing as hard as you want. You can also easily take a long smooth full backswing. You can swing a lot of different ways draw, fade, steeper, shallower as long as you keep moving in sync with your weight. Thanks Marcus this video is golden.

Thanks for you comment. It's just years of trial and error. I still try all interesting things I hear about but nowadays I rarely find anything good. I was also out of sync for many years but I was in sync when I started playing golf. Golf tips made me worse but I could find my way back.

Hi Marcus, my partner is Czech and played a decent level of ice hockey in his day. He is right handed but plays left. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw your channel for the first time! He loves your circle of speed as it makes so much sense to him. He’s trying to show me in the garden how to do it - I’ve been a long time follower of Shawn Clement and I find I need analogies to follow but I always come over the top with the handle coming first. Ross is getting me to release earlier and earlier as you instruct and my ball flight is getting straighter and longer. I’m finally getting some confidence again thanks to you. Thank you from Adelaide, Australia. ❤

Hi Marcus! In a few days I’ll be 80, your videos came on my utube 4 weeks ago like an early birthday present. Lol. I started golfing at 45 conventional lessons led me to a bulged disk in my back, so I’ve always been an arm swinger, with your teaching I’m doing it right now. In the short time that I’ve watched your videos I’ve made a swing speed training stick and have my speed up to 95 mph from 84, my goal is to surpass 100 mph. I have been striking my irons solid, realizing the release point was a huge part of that. I’m so appreciative of your teaching style that makes everything easy to understand and makes golfing fun again. The golf season is almost over in western Canada but I’m excited for next season. Thank You so much for all your work. 👍👍

Within 1/2 a day my club-head speed went from between 65-70mph to 80...all my distances extended by 10m-15m per club...my 8 iron = 133m carry, and these distances are without "real" strain. I started to play golf at 42. I am now in my seventy’s. My handicap was from the start 18-24 and ik never got better because it was so inconsistent. I followed lessons at so many golf teachers face to face and at KZbin but I couldn’t do it. I spend way to much money on golfclubs dvd’s books etc. But for some reason it never made me better. Probably my hand eye arm wrists body coordination sucks big time. I always tried to hit further by rotate faster. Until this fabulous golf tip from Marcus. I hit the ball further and straighter almost without effort. Can’t belief it. I am over the moon. Thanks Marcus thanks 🙏

I just started golf a few years ago, I'm now 33. I still have some level of speed and athelticism left over, but I know that with kids on the way and more and more office work in my future, I'm not going to maintain that rotation and power long term, so I'm trying to build a relaxed swing that doesn't feel too stressful on my body, while maintaining that elastic feel. I took the advice coming from this channel on letting the arms accelerate over each other and not focusing on spinning too hard/not going as far back. I practiced the "face target with feet + body and try to hit straight" advice also. I also really exaggerated how high the tee is and really thinking about hitting up high rather than imagining hitting it horizontally far. Well whatever combination of technique that put me in, I hit a 300m drive, a good 30m further than my previous furthest. I know golf, and I know it will vary between hitting it well and hitting it bad, but I really think there is a lot to say in letting your body do what it is good at and picking and choosing the bits that work for you. The simple tip you gave for pushing down with the right hand also "restarted" me taking consistent divots, and was the missing piece with my irons. For me it feels like hitting a "block" in cricket - which I played for many decades before golf. Thanks for the great tips!

Marcus love your video’s content. As you say do what works for you. With the irons I find for me taking the club inside out by playing the ball in the middle or a tad more forward my shots are better. Playing the ball more back is not my cup of tee but get excellent results with it a little more up in my stance 😊

Marcus--I can't tell you how much I appreciate your teaching. You are a such a generous soul and, as a former teacher myself, I sense the spirit of true givingness you offer each one of us. . I am 78 and have been on the same search, trying to try to recapture what worked in the past. The greatest compliment I can give is that I TRUST what you say. Your power is amazing but you are a realist and ask us to find for ourselves, in our own way. I am reviewing my athletic past, remembering what worked and how I used my body. I played, to about a 4 handicap in my 20s, won a couple local long drive contests. Your lessons are spot on. Two questions: In general, are thicker golf grips better? I have long thin fingers and have used thin grips my whole golfing life but are thicker grips worth it, considering the loss of speed? .Second question: Do you recommend us finding a much lighter softer driver shaft, Auto-Flex or something cheaper? f And again, thank you again for all that you do. Deeply appreciated.

Hi. I'm glad you find good value in my videos. All I wanted since I started this is to help as many as possible. I have made some tests with different sizes of grips but I can't find any benefit in thicker or thinner grips, just a better feel. Shaft however is fun. If you can use a more flexible shaft, do it. You will hit it longer but it requires a good timing. The club will feel more alive and you will work better with it and feel the club head better.

Glad you included the 80-year old golfer in your introduction, as I will soon hit that milestone. My swing speed is around 70 with driver. I would very much like to know how far you could hit with your driver if you reduced to that speed. That would give me a target to achieve by hitting up on my drives. Naturally I am speed training to move up from 70 mph. Thanks for the informative video!

Hi David. I needed to try it before I answered your question. Hitting 5-7 degrees up on the ball I can get to 200 yards total length with 71 mph. High launch with low spin is the key to driving distance. 👍

Marcus, I came across your channel a few days ago but I have not yet had a chance to visit the golf course to try out your advice. I'm 65, retired and out of shape, but intend to make golf my new job. In my youth, I could score under 90 on a regular basis, but it's been many years since I have even been able to break 100. I am going to adopt your swing methods and have established a goal for myself to break 90 by the end of next summer and will let you know whether or not I achieve that goal!

Hello Marcus I hope all is well. Haven't played real golf in 2 1/2 years because of injuries but went out today with Lidocaine patches on my hands and two Bionic gloves. I hit the driver about 80% and the long irons 100% but the short Irons I was pulling them. It may have been the arthritic grips I had on them. I will try some short irons with standard grips and see what happens. I will keep working and watching all of your videos. Thank you.

Very timely video big man, I just turned 60 and feel like I’m losing distance off the tee so I need to employ your ideas more and more. One good analogy you could apply here is the spokes on a wheel….if you look at a rotating wheel, the outside rim is travelling far faster than the hub but they are obviously perfectly synchronised or else the wheel would fall apart!
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad

Glad to help but the spokes doesn't have an extra engine like we have in our shoulder that can make the arm (spoke) move even faster than the hub of the wheel. 💪

Marcus, your respectful teaching style is commendable. Simple, concise and engaging. As a former trainer/instructor myself - not golf - (Army and car product) I know you’re an expert communicator. Very well done my friend. Very well done 🫡 And, we thank you. I’m 56 in a couple of months, with a crook back, and thought I’d have to swing the club like the young pro’s for many years. They’re great to watch, but like you, “I can’t do it”. I watched too much slow motion and was ‘stupid’. Holding lag. What a f@kn con that movement is! Better now though 🤙 Unbelievable, yet achievable guidance on the golf swing from a long drive master such as yourself. Cheers mate. Hope the skillest is going well, and see you on that platform soon. It's normal to try to take the shortest and fastest road to the ball. This will probably give you problems with longer clubs. I don't see a straight line from the top to the ball I see a circle and that helps me give the club a detour to the ball. It gives me time to accumulate speed. If we don't hit the intended spot on the club we need to adjust it until we do. It normally has nothing to do with set up but everything to do with the difference between what we think we do and what we do. If you try to hit the heal you will probably find the sweat spot.

Sadly nothing happens automatically in the release. I extend my trail arm and wrist to control when and how the release happen. My lead wrist is mostly responsible for what happens from just before impact and after impact to control the face nd minimize rotation of the face.

Hi James. It's hard to give you exactly a solution but I try to. Firstly, we need to move our body and our head. Being still kills all energy and speed. What we need to learn is to countermove forward what we did going back so we don't loose balance. If the big problem is bad/fat shots I would only focus on getting the club back to the ground at th correct point. Club fokus will force your body to move back enough to hit better shots.
