Thanks!. I just discovered your channel last week and I’ve only watched a few of your lessons so far, but you have already been a big help. At 77 years old, I’ve been struggling to get back to bogey golf. Since watching a few of your videos I have been to the range once and have only played once, but I am hitting many more quality shots and I dropped 5 strokes off my average scores. I’m going to keep watching and practicing.

Update from an 68 years old golfer that had to give up golf for a few years due to back problem cause by too much golfing.....being a canadian familiar with the slap shoot, I decided to try swinging golf clubs and to follow yours directives .Spending 7 weeks in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. I spent the last 4 weeks hitting a basket of golf balls almost every day. For those interested let me tell you that my new slap shoot golf swing allow me to enjoy hitting golf balls without any pain. Being a very good student of the game I am able to hit my drive s around 215 yards carry from and average of 175 yards. At the range the big slices are almost inexistant being replace par fades. I mostly hit nice draws. Really I prefer practicing then playing. I am getting back to the cold next week but I will keep watching these great videos and get ready for the upcoming golf season in Canada hopefully soon less than 2 months. Thanks Marcus sorry for the long message but I want peoples to understand that with some efforts and a positive attitude you will improve there is nothing difficult but it could be new for someone to make changes in their golf swing. Keep it simple.

I'm in my 70th year of life and I took up golf about 5 years ago; never did understand golf instructions which never worked for me; there's nothing intuitive about the golf swing, and it's infinitely harder to pick something like this up as an older adult as opposed to a young one; your methodology makes sense and works; I'm still not a great golfer but I am improving now and have a much better golf shot thanks to you. I never listen to anyone else now !!

Hi Marcus, my partner is Czech and played a decent level of ice hockey in his day. He is right handed but plays left. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw your channel for the first time! He loves your circle of speed as it makes so much sense to him. He’s trying to show me in the garden how to do it - I’ve been a long time follower of Shawn Clement and I find I need analogies to follow but I always come over the top with the handle coming first. Ross is getting me to release earlier and earlier as you instruct and my ball flight is getting straighter and longer. I’m finally getting some confidence again thanks to you. Thank you from Adelaide, Australia. ❤

"Moving in sync with your weight"!! This is the best golf swing video ever. Move your weight back with the club and move your weight forward with the club! I really think this is THE secret. It is the key to your timing, control and power in the swing. After watching your video I tried it and it was a huge AHA moment after about 4 or 5 swings! Most of the reasons for any mishits is because your body weight momentum is ahead of the club's momentum. When you transfer your weight early even if you are tilted with your head behind the ball you are not getting your weight into the hit and timing and power is very hard to control. When you go back with the club and move forward with the club there is no rush you feel like you have all the time in the world but you can swing as hard as you want. You can also easily take a long smooth full backswing. You can swing a lot of different ways draw, fade, steeper, shallower as long as you keep moving in sync with your weight. Thanks Marcus this video is golden.

Hi Marcus! In a few days I’ll be 80, your videos came on my utube 4 weeks ago like an early birthday present. Lol. I started golfing at 45 conventional lessons led me to a bulged disk in my back, so I’ve always been an arm swinger, with your teaching I’m doing it right now. In the short time that I’ve watched your videos I’ve made a swing speed training stick and have my speed up to 95 mph from 84, my goal is to surpass 100 mph. I have been striking my irons solid, realizing the release point was a huge part of that. I’m so appreciative of your teaching style that makes everything easy to understand and makes golfing fun again. The golf season is almost over in western Canada but I’m excited for next season. Marcus--I can't tell you how much I appreciate your teaching. You are a such a generous soul and, as a former teacher myself, I sense the spirit of true givingness you offer each one of us. . I am 78 and have been on the same search, trying to try to recapture what worked in the past. The greatest compliment I can give is that I TRUST what you say. Your power is amazing but you are a realist and ask us to find for ourselves, in our own way. I am reviewing my athletic past, remembering what worked and how I used my body. I played, to about a 4 handicap in my 20s, won a couple local long drive contests. Your lessons are spot on. Two questions: In general, are thicker golf grips better? I have long thin fingers and have used thin grips my whole golfing life but are thicker grips worth it, considering the loss of speed? .Second question: Do you recommend us finding a much lighter softer driver shaft, Auto-Flex or something cheaper? f And again, thank you again for all that you do. Deeply appreciated.
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad9 ай бұрын
Hi. I'm glad you find good value in my videos. All I wanted since I started this is to help as many as possible. I have made some tests with different sizes of grips but I can't find any benefit in thicker or thinner grips, just a better feel. Shaft however is fun. If you can use a more flexible shaft, do it. You will hit it longer but it requires a good timing. The club will feel more alive and you will work better with it and feel the club head better.

I just started golf a few years ago, I'm now 33. I still have some level of speed and athelticism left over, but I know that with kids on the way and more and more office work in my future, I'm not going to maintain that rotation and power long term, so I'm trying to build a relaxed swing that doesn't feel too stressful on my body, while maintaining that elastic feel. I took the advice coming from this channel on letting the arms accelerate over each other and not focusing on spinning too hard/not going as far back. I practiced the "face target with feet + body and try to hit straight" advice also. I also really exaggerated how high the tee is and really thinking about hitting up high rather than imagining hitting it horizontally far. Well whatever combination of technique that put me in, I hit a 300m drive, a good 30m further than my previous furthest. I know golf, and I know it will vary between hitting it well and hitting it bad, but I really think there is a lot to say in letting your body do what it is good at and picking and choosing the bits that work for you. The simple tip you gave for pushing down with the right hand also "restarted" me taking consistent divots, and was the missing piece with my irons. For me it feels like hitting a "block" in cricket - which I played for many decades before golf. Thanks for the great tips!

Very timely video big man, I just turned 60 and feel like I’m losing distance off the tee so I need to employ your ideas more and more. One good analogy you could apply here is the spokes on a wheel….if you look at a rotating wheel, the outside rim is travelling far faster than the hub but they are obviously perfectly synchronised or else the wheel would fall apart!

I am trying to see if your trail palm is bent back , like you are holding a tray, at the top of your back swing, and if you feel this position or idea is a key point or keeping your knuckles on your lead hand pointing down during the down swing.

Wonderful again. I have a question. I like to move like a rocket , steady and faster during the swing. But because of my martial arts background i still hit like a gun shot from the top. Any suggestions of how to train myself? Thanks buddy for walk the talk. 😍😎
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad Жыл бұрын
It's normal to try to take the shortest and fastest road to the ball. This will probably give you problems with longer clubs. I don't see a straight line from the top to the ball I see a circle and that helps me give the club a detour to the ball. It gives me time to accumulate speed. Hey Marcus. What are your thoughts on the hockey shot and golf swing? If you’re a left handed hockey player, would your golf swing be better if you did this left handed as well?
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad Жыл бұрын
Hi Keith. I was a lefty in hockey and I play golf as a lefty. I meet a lot of hockey players and most of them with direction from hockey to golf and it seems to work out great. Like most of the things we experience in golf, we need to try to know. I couldn't switch but I tried. 🤔

Hello Marcus Thank you for giving us hope. One question, are you mostly using your dominant hand and arm? I am a right handed golfer and today I tried using just my right hand to hit the ball and there was a little success. I wasn't however able to hit everything straight.
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad4 ай бұрын
My dominant hand is my left and I use that mostly to control the club face. My right arm produce motion and speed. 👍

Marcus, your respectful teaching style is commendable. Simple, concise and engaging. As a former trainer/instructor myself - not golf - (Army and car product) I know you’re an expert communicator. Very well done my friend. Very well done 🫡 And, we thank you. I’m 56 in a couple of months, with a crook back, and thought I’d have to swing the club like the young pro’s for many years. They’re great to watch, but like you, “I can’t do it”. I watched too much slow motion and was ‘stupid’. Holding lag. What a f@kn con that movement is! Better now though 🤙 Unbelievable, yet achievable guidance on the golf swing from a long drive master such as yourself. Cheers mate. Hope the skillest is going well, and see you on that platform soon. Pro, would it be beneficial for older golfers to use a senior shaft and more loft on the driver ?
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad2 ай бұрын
A softer shaft benefits many golfers but loft depends on how we hit it.

Hi Marcus, when you release with the driver or long irons, do you deliberately bend your lead wrist or the release happens automatically because of your swing? Thanks.❤
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad10 ай бұрын
Sadly nothing happens automatically in the release. I extend my trail arm and wrist to control when and how the release happen. My lead wrist is mostly responsible for what happens from just before impact and after impact to control the face nd minimize rotation of the face.

Hey Marcus. I hope all is going well with you. I’m having a dilemma. I hit the crap out of my 3 and 5 woods (consistent and long), but my driver isn’t going much farther. I’m 60 years old and still swinging club speed over 100 mph, but you would never know it from the result. I’m using a 10.5 M4 with regular shaft. Any suggestions?
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad8 ай бұрын
This is a normal problem. We all need to make an exaggerated early release to get the driver going. Watch this video about it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6O0gJKpr5aJY7Msi=1JXGp3c4EAStwfwi

Timing is what you need to change. An early release of the club will ALWAYS make you hit up on the ball. Watch this video for more: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5bXhqOMgt6Vi5Isi=eGC0Y7gUpYBn0_-1

What time of downswing you shift your weight forward?

I can't say that because it depends on what shot I want to hit. I shift early if I want to hit a low stinger and later if I want to hit it high.

Great video Marcus...I'm trying to get distance back after reconstructive shoulder surgery last Oct. I'm 69 years old, played hockey (semi-pro) for over 20 years but struggling. My golf instructors have told me that I will continue to struggle sue to the fact I played hockey left handed and golf right handed.....your thoughts? (I'm too old to start playing golf left handed) :)
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad Жыл бұрын
I can't tell you what to do but I think it's possible to play either way. If I practice a bit I can hit almost as good right but I don't have the same speed. I'm stronger as a righty but faster as a lefty. I'm weird. 😁

I’m a senior golfer too. Also 1m93cm tall. I have slow swing and often told I sway a little. Result is some fat and thin shots. Last lesson told me to stop trying to swing a bit wider while trying to keep my head central. Been told to anchor my feet and have a narrow backswing. Not working. Any help welcome😊
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad Жыл бұрын
Hi James. It's hard to give you exactly a solution but I try to. Firstly, we need to move our body and our head. Being still kills all energy and speed. What we need to learn is to countermove forward what we did going back so we don't loose balance. If the big problem is bad/fat shots I would only focus on getting the club back to the ground at th correct point. Club fokus will force your body to move back enough to hit better shots.
