Don’t delay the arm release when you transition at the top off your swing. We need timme to increase speed before we reach the ball.
Let me help you get a effortless golfswing with speed and accuracy. A good release will help you to a better impact and longer drives and irons without slice and hook.
Long and straight is every ones goal but it takes time. Try to focus on one thing not everything when you practise. Impact, face control and swingpath will always be the most important part to drill.
If you use callaway, ping, titleist or taylor made clubs doesn’t matter you can learn to hit good golf shots. Your loft or your shaft on the club will not change but you can get better.
Find what inspires you. The pga tour, longdrivers or other good golfers can all help you find better golf shots. Watch what they do instead of listed to what they say. Listen mostly to your body and figure out what you need to do to produce the same results as the pros on TV.
Mike Malaska, Mike Austin, Mike Dunaway and Steve Pratt are some of my favorite golf instructors online. Find the tips that make your golf better. Decide what you want to hit. I teach a draw but many like a fade and nobody likes a hook or slice.
Your hips or your lag is not the key to golf. Your hands will decide the shot and you can do like Tiger Woods and trust your hands. Teach your hands to hit different shots. Hit big hooks and slices to understand what happens. Only straight is not gonna teach you anything.
Bryson Dechambeu and Kyle Birkshire can inspire you to hit it longer. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson can give you inspiration and motivation to test new things and new golf shots. Linn Grant can show you the future of ladies golf.
The Masters, Players Championship, The Players, The Open and US Open can make you love golf even more. See the best in the world solve all the problems we all need to master any golf course. Golf is a craft and you need fantasy, feel and skills to master it.

Marcus is spot on about this release. I read too many books when I started golf about “lag”. Complete BS and took me 20 years to figure out what Marcus is talking about. Wish I’d have seen this 20 years ago.

lag has probably set as many golfers back as any other single swing thought. I believe Jack Nicklaus also said at one time that he starts the release as soon as he starts the downswing. Marcus is on top of it. Marcus is the MAN.

With your health, I can now enjoy playing golf again and get my speed and length back. I no longer listen to any other KZbin instructors, you are the best!!!

Marcus, I have slowly added your swing concepts into my game. I’m 78 years old so fast hip rotations and the like are not possible. But playing last week in 20 mph winds, I shot 77. Solid long drives, irons solid with slight draws. I gave your website to my lefty golf partner and he is now a subscriber. You need more subscribers! I will work on that.

Hey Marcus, watched your video last night. Did some swinging at a tee peg in the ground then went off to play competition at my club today. Your instructions on release makes me feel absolutely free compared to dragging the driver through impact zone. Early results were impressive so I will keep working on it and your other videos. Many thanks. I actually hit the sweet spot over and over today. Usually a rarity for me. Love your work.

For me this is the key to the golf swing, especially with driver. Like Marcus, I don't keep my lead arm straight in the back-swing. So I start the downswing by swinging out (straightening the lead arm and casting) and down with my arms before turning. I only start turning in the bottom half of the swing, maybe a little earlier. This forces the club to take an inside out club path in the bottom half of the swing and I don't slice anymore. So it really feels like the downswing has two parts. The first is down and the second is out. After the hit, you just want to go up and out.

Played Friday and about 4 holes in with mixed results I thought of this teaching from having recently studied some of these videos. I said to myself, Self I'm gonna try to push though with right side. First one, bombed a slight draw easily 50 yards farther than I have been able to muster on my best shot while trying to pull through with front side. I hit four more bombs out of 5 attempts. The only errant one was a slight fade instead of a draw which found the edge of the wood line due to me aiming that way. Also I tend to hit fat shots with irons for multiple reasons but one of them is pulling down suddenly and violently with lead side. Interested to see how this shapes up with irons. Great videos man, thanks so much!

I think i finally understand the quotes “i wish i had three right hands” and “you can’t release the club soon enough”. If i’m pushing with my trail hand, the only physical limit is how hard i can push that hand and the sooner the better for more speed. Then match the body turn to that speed. Notice Marcus gets insane speed without looking like he’s turning crazy fast. He COULD turn faster, but only would if he could generate an even faster release. Which he could do if he had three trail hands

I really like this series. How important is it to keep a steady / centered head throughout the swing? Also, does it matter if the lead arm is straight or bent in the backswing given that we are using the trail arm?
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 11 ай бұрын
The lead arm needs to be relaxed and that could be helped with a little bend and no, you don't need a fixed head. If you do the swing correct your head will move correct. 👍

Dear Marcus, I am enjoying your videos. Good job! I do have a question. I'm currently focused on improving my hand or probably more correctly arm speed, and upon measuring my lead and trail arm speeds separately, I've found that my lead arm is consistently 10 mph faster. This leads me to suspect that my trail arm may be the limiting factor to gain speed. If you concur with this assessment, do you have any specific drills or techniques in mind to enhance the speed of my trail arm? Maybe it is as straightforward as implementing overspeed training for the trail arm?

Hi Marcus. I'm learning to start the release earlier with driver. Do you find with yourself and students that certain shafts work better generally? For example lighter or a softer flex? Maybe a thinner grip?
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad

The grip doesn't seem to make any difference but a lighter softer shaft can often be a good choice. To many golfers in my opinion have to stiff and heavy shaft.
