great video as always. I wish there was more explanation on why the kv determined the prop category. It does not mention why none of the motors tested are suitable for 4S 5" ultralight, or why 6s is not suitable for 3.5" freestyle. Apart from that I find it really annoying that manufacturers don't publish the correct KV and your work is very valuable to help us better chose.

Hi Chris, AMAZING testing! Thanks!!! At 12:21 you made a small "typo" talking about 4 inch instead of 4s ;) What would be interesting is to look for a smaller than 2004 motor to drive 5 inch 2 bladed props to.bring the ultralight weight down a notch. Do you foresee any motor? I Reckon it's very specific....

Great test. Pity that you have not tested even more different sizes. Because for 4" freestyle I have tried more options: (2004 3000KV, 1804 3500KV, 1505 3750KV, 1404 2600KV). For me the results are 2004 -> the smoothest precision flight, 1804 -> Great freestyle but mechanically prone to be damaged by hit because of large diameter, 1505-> Extraordinary power for freestyle, robust but took the most amps on punch (but I stayed with them), 1404 great efficiency for long range. All of them flyable on 850mAh 4S. ' But there is no scientific testing from me and I hoped I would see it here. So I look forward for another tests. Love your videos. :)

I had the emax 2004 2400kv motors and they were twitching ans runing hot. Tried it on two different builds. Same problem. Even tried them Single just to test. Totally bad. Maybe I was just unlucky, but I'd keep away. Although my emax 2807 and 1404 are still running strong

@@chrisbee5481 I’ve run these motors on an AOS3.5 and currently have them on my Quadmula F35s and absolutely LOVE them. My only complaints would be the 1.5mm shaft breaking but then again these are freestyle rigs so there’s obvious abuse on my part. I’m sorry to hear you had a poor experience. Thanks for all the testing. I've purchased your AOS 2207 and 2807 motors. The spec sheet shows that the 5 inch motor draws almost 50% more watts than the 7 inch motor at full throttle. I figured spinning a bigger prop meant the motor was doing more work. Can you explain why the 5 inch motor was drawing 60 amps and the much larger motor was only drawing 38 amps?
@chrisbee54818 ай бұрын
That 2807 spec sheet has wrong data for the amp draw. It makes like 2800g of max thrust and claims to draw only like 38A max. If you compare that to rcinpowers 2809 motor on same prop, then it draws much much more amp for the same thrust. Both motors are rcinpower and it can't be that the aos 2807 perform a miracle efficiency. I work with these thrust charts and just believe me
@mikybaga97628 ай бұрын
Hi, what motor would you recommend for the fastest direction reversal? Iflight 2207 are not fast enough for a custom mixer craft that I'm PID tuning. Thanks!

Thanks chris for yet another great test video, although most of these motors don't fit my use case it's still really interesting to learn about them! Question for anyone: I'm having trouble with my Skystars KM55A AM32 esc, set up exactly the same way I have set up all my BL Heli stacks but displaying very wierd behaviour in BF (Esc alarm stays on with Dshot Beacon set to off on default settings, also motor direction wizard makes the ESC restart when changing motor direction). I've attempted to update AM32 to latest (1.99) but esc configurator webapp fails to find the download using the online feature, but also fails to flash the (triple checked) correct target hex file downloaded from the am32 repo... I've never seen behaviour like this before and I could only know about the ESC alarm after soldering (which is usually the point where the warranty stops). Hopefully I can find a solution!
@camdynkellett67828 ай бұрын
Also if anyone has info on where I can find some sort of AM32 discord or support group that would be legendary!! (ps for BF configurator I previously used 10.9 but uninstalled and updated to 10.10 official within the hour of release)

@@camdynkellett6782 my advice you might not want to hear. Just get a new esc. There are good budget ones out there and you save a lot of time and trouble. But you can go through the experience of many hours trying to fix and maybe some crashes due to faulty ESC that costs you more time and money. Ask me how i know
@camdynkellett67828 ай бұрын
@@chrisbee5481 I appreciate your advice, it's a bummer for me because It was the only option for a 20x20 stack in my country and currently still is. I need a 20x20 for my Shendrones Hydrophobe frame. I've spent enough time now, I'm buying a replacement ESC to see if mine is faulty, and if it solves the probelm I hope that Skystars provides some sort of support, unlikely but we'll see.

Can we stop with the flat pancake motors already? A 1507 motor has on par responsiveness to a 2105.5 motor which is a whopping 50% larger. Unless your application can't keep a 1507 motor cool for some bizarre reason this is just crazy. Its time we get those tall stator gains across the board already!
@strykerfpv8 ай бұрын
bro, they overheat instantly. unusable for racing and pretty likeley to overheat for freestyle

@@strykerfpv I still have a Diatone GTR349 with 1408 motors, perfectly fine for freestyle with ridiculous amounts of power for punch-outs. I'll grant you I never tried racing with it, maybe I should I think it would work fine. Could be a MultiGP qualifying racer would be overheating these and in that case sure, but I have a strong feeling people talk crap about these tall motors for no real reason other than the cream of the crop of pilots need a bit flatter motors

Yes - wide stators are a waste of torque. Overheating is barely an issue unless you f up the tune.

But what if it is not an actual KV lower than the one stated by the manufacturer, but rather just a bad/low-quality bearing? You know that this method of measuring KV is not very correct. Good job btw!

I recommend not believing Chris rosser about motors because I've heard he lies about the data to make his motors seem better just so they will sell more 😢
@strykerfpv8 ай бұрын
not really, people say his motors are only better because he lied about the size but they are only a small amount larger, closer to a 2308 than 2207 and still keep less weight than most 2306 motors, so they really are innovative

Most of these motors are too heavy on a sub 250 build. Brother Hobby 1504.5 is a good balance for sub 250g with GF3630 props. (Any stator volume around 800-1000mm^3)
@strykerfpv8 ай бұрын
true, for sub250 you would be better off with something like the tmotor pacer p1604. brotherhobby performs better than the tmotor but the brotherhobby is not durable at all so pick your poison.
